Crashes to desktop as windows live tries to log in
First, the specs and stuff;
OS: Windows 7
Processor: Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3ghz
Memory: 4096mb
Display
Video Card: NVIDIA Gefore GTX 260
Video Memory: 876mb
Driver Date: well I downloaded and installed the latest nvidia drivers earlier and rebooted.
Okay so I'm getting a white screen and a crash to the desktop as it attempts to log me into games for windows live after I enter the password. I've tried running it in DX9 mode, I've tried running as administrator and I've updated my nvidia drivers (as mentioned). The thing is though that it worked fine (40-50fps for reference) the first time I played it but it crashed when I tried to bring up a menu with 'esc' and hasn't worked since (and that time I did log into games for windows live too)
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello. I also have this problem.
While it is logging in to GFWL, it crashes.
CPU: I7 920 2.66GHz
Video Card: GTX 280 1GB OC
Audio: Logitech G35 Headset
RAM: 6GB
OS: Windows 7

I am having pretty much the same problem
I was able to play a bit without a profile (it eventually froze however) But trying to log into GFWL would freeze the entire thing
I eventually tried to get it to log in automaticly, it would, however it never makes it to the loading screen
It's very fustraiting, my Specs
Windows Vista is my operating system
Q9400 CPU,
4GB DDR2 RAM,
Asus Maximus Formula X38 motherboard
Ati radeon hd 4870
Only difference is im not getting a white screen, mines going black and crashing

Well yeah, it's black for me, not white.
But also, I am able to login on the main scree, but when i click "Singeplayer" (is it?) it crashes.
So it isn't exactly GFWL that crashes it, it's something when it loads the actual main menu with the options and stuff on.

Mine did go to black, can't imagine it matters much though. Also I reckon this is a windows 7 problem?

I am also crashing when GFWL tries to log in.
Works fine in my copy of fallout 3.
Windows Vista here.

same problem
Made an account just to mention this...
It's not just Windows 7- i'm running this game on Windows XP. My computer isn't great, I'm running it on minimum specs- but last night I logged in at 1.00 a.m. GMT to play it on release and it ran fine. I managed to play for about an hour, got up to the train bit. Then as I was turning the game off it got the infamous error message. I thought nothing of it as I was going to bed anyway. This morning, I get on the computer, turn on BioShock 2. Menu system loads fine, I click singleplayer, GFWL tries to log in and it blackscreens. So no, don't think it's W7 specifically- maybe an actual game bug or something? GFWL is horrible anyway.
Edit: Forgot to post specs... I'm running just above minimum specs, although I don't think that's the problem.
OS: Microsoft windows xp professional (5.1, Build 2600)
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs)
Memory: 2048RAM
Display
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT
Video Memory: 512.0 MB
Driver Date: 14/07/2009
Sound
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy (doesn't have an actual spec name, for some reason.)
Driver Date: 07/07/2005 (I know it's old, but I ran the test and it's working perfectly :P)

True, I was always Shifty on it, and this latest bug has just killed off any chance of me giving it another go
Kinda glad more people have had problems with it, doesnt mean its simply just me,
I was able to run it without a profile for a while, got to the Big Sister fight and it just froze immediatly,
Messing around with multi player i was able to run it, didnt get too far however (wanted to play single player)
Tried everything, Even deleting the file in the big help topic pinned on the board, and nothing

Here is a mini-solution to what i've found.
Delete everything in here.
C:\Users\*Username*\Documents\Bioshock2
Then reload. (If you wish, backup the files).
For me, the game has now loaded and played the intro and starting off. But it'll most likely crash at the point where others are crashing too.

Hi,
Same problem here, game crashes when clicking on Solo Play, I can play when I'm disconnected from GFWL, but of course I can't save without it so that's totally useless.
I've tried the same things than Mrjimmy and game still crashes.
My specs:
Windows 7 ultimate 64bits
E8400@3.6Ghz
8800GTS 512Mb with latest driver
4Gb DDR2 RAM
Hope we'll have some answers
(Sorry if I made some mistakes writing English)
