GFWL Causing Crash

So I launched Bioshock 2 and it was lagging a bit at the title screen and I got that stupid GFWL overlay so I logged in, registered my key and then the game crashed. Turns out windows firewall was asking for my permission to go online, which is just super convenient since it showed up behind the game and I couldn't minimize the game to accept it. I had to log out of windows to get rid of bioshock as the task manager was also behind the game and I could not end the process. After logging back in, every single time I get to the title screen the game crashes a split second after the GWFL overlay starts to pop up. This is not acceptable.

edit: crash is the wrong word maybe, it just hangs indefinitely
