So about 20 minutes into the game, my 360 just stops outputting video all together. Thanks a lot, Bioshock. I've always wanted a 400-dollar brick.

Why blame Bioshock? They didn't do a poor job engineering the 360's cooling system.
And you should be covered under warranty. You can try the towel trick if you want.
Why blame Bioshock? Because I've had my 360 since December 22nd, 2005. A month after launch, and it's never even had so much as a stutter before Bioshock.
What "towel trick"? I don't think it's going to bring my video back.
I wish people would stop saying that "Game ABC" bricked their 360. It's your fault you don't take care of you stuff. Not my fault you don't have proper ventilation for your 360. These things heat up and they get hot. They can break even after so many hours of usage. It's normal wear and tear. It's just like a car.
I have 4 360's setup in the home all networked together and NONE of them have had any problems.. not even my 360 SDK/DevKit.
There's a 3 year warranty.. you are already covered cuz the system hasn't even been out for 3 years. Send it in and have them repair it.
Assuming I don't take care of my stuff brings you awfully close to "ignorant bastard" territory. I take better care of my belongings than 90% of the people you'll ever meet. Maybe I didn't state it clearly enough when I said my Xbox 360 has never had a single problem until Bioshock.
First hit on Google: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avWs4-wD15w
Geez dude, calm down.
Did you even bother to check if your AV cables etc. weren't fried? Maybe it's your TV? Depending on what type it is, it might need a new bulb.
Before you randomly complain to people who don't actually care, and couldn't help you even if they wanted to, make sure you checked EVERYTHING that could possibley be wrong with the setup.
It has nothing to do with taking care of the 360, it's always had these kinds of problems. I had to get mine repaired fairly recently and it was still in perfect condition not even a smudge on it :\ and all I did prior was watch a movie, which I HIGHLY doubt caused it, just like BioShock
actually I have personal experience with how horribly cheap the 360 is. I have had 4 of them in a 4-5 month period. first one lasted a month, brought it back to sams club, they gave me a new one, this one lasted a week, constant lockups and stuttering, returned that one, they gave me another new one in box, this one worked great for about 6 weeks and then the dvdrom drive completely stopped working, returned it to sams, they gave me a new one again.. so far so good on the 4th unit.
lol yeah, well the first wasn't
sams club is nice because they will honor the warranty and swap it out for you with a new one. It just blew my friggin mind that I had 3 bad units in a row. nervous the 4th one won't last long term.
Well Microsoft repairs all 360's free of charge for 3 years after the purchase date, and they actually seem to have less of a chance of dying after they're "repaired." Or so it seems.
That's cool... I thought it was only 3 months lol, not three years.
Say, if I get a used one from Game Stop, I assume MicroSoft's warranty is void? Also, what is GS's warranty for these things?
it was 90 days when they were released.. ms caught a bunch of crap about that and raised it to a year, I beleive its only a year for warranty now. Its like 150ish dollars to have it repaired/replaced out of warranty.
"Microsoft Corp. today announced that it will expand its global Xbox 360™ warranty coverage. Any Xbox 360 customer who experiences a general hardware failure indicated by three flashing red lights will now be covered by a three year warranty from date of purchase."
That's from E3 btw ^
If you've got the 3 red lights then it's covered by the new 3 yr warranty. And HykCraft is wrong, 360s break even with good ventilation. And it's not just normal wear and tear since most consoles last a good 5-10 years.
At least if you RMA it now, you should get it back with the new fix in place.
I owned a 360 since it was released. It was built on 11.06 and I never had problems. I own the PC version of Bioshock since im more of a pc gamer. But since I know someone at a gamestop they let me use the 360 ver. and I coulnt belive the sudio problems i was having with this game. I am very surprised that 2k would release a game like this. I'm running a DTS sys that runs like a charm on a 1080p and Bio is killing me.
No game is going to Brick your 360. It's purely Hardware. I'm on my 3rd 360.
