lots of trouble, need lots of help thanks
hey i just bought the real bioshock from steam, not the demo. and it opens and i get to the menu and there's no mouse, i have to swing it around till something lights up. Once i finally do get the game started everything looks great the plane seen is clear and the voice is fine. Then the logo appears and i can hear the plane crashing after that i have lots of problems come up, I'm technically in the game and no error came up, but i might as well be blind deaf and dumb. Right after the plane crash when your coming up from drowning i see lots of white squares and little bits of fire in the distance. Lots of textures and details and everything visual is missing. When i come up i can see the fire just fine, but other than that its all black except a few scattered white squares, i can move but i have no idea what I'm doing. I'm on windows xp home and i have a radeon 9700. Its like a 4 year old machine but it can run modern games like Battlefield 2 and Half life 2. I turned off everything in the in-game graphics menu, everything that cant be turn off is on low so i know it can run it. Thanks again for any help.

This is exactly what I have happen, and yes I have downloaded the hot fix.
ATI Radeion 9600 series

Neither the Radeon 9600 nor 9700 are supported by BioShock. The game requires a Shader Model 3.0 compliant graphics card to run properly. As the minimum system requirements indicate, anything less than a Radeon x1300 series or GeForce 6600 series graphics card is unable to run the game. Sorry

ahh, thanks, i looked for a GeForce 6600 on Newegg.com, couldn'd find it surprisingly, do you have any idea how much it costs and where i could get one, I dont want to have to spend anymore money than i have to to play a game, i found a 7600 for $90, i dont want to spend anymore than that. Thanks so much neildittmar.

get the 7600 in that case, its pretty good bang for the buck for the performance increase over the 6600 (which it replaced)
