    Inventory

what will the inventory be like in Bioshock?
will it be like the one in SS2? where you always just dont have enough room except for the bare-essentials?

i assume it would be like that by the looks of the info given on that x play review and on that xo6 demo vid lik ur always going to have limited ammo and inventory, similar to condemned, even though it did say there would be 8 different guns that were very customizable so you think it would be difficult to have that many choices with a small inventory capacity.

There's an inventory? I thought that the only things that would require an inventory were the plasmid combinations & the mods available for weapons, all of which can be displayed in an intuitive GUI front screen that dissapears after a few seconds, not in an inventory subscreen.

when i said inventory, i meant like how many weapons and such you can hold at once, cause it does appear that it shows which weapon you have equipped at the time in some of the gameplay videos in the bottom left hand corner but like you siad it disappears after a few seconds.

That's not really an inventory perse, but I get what you're saying. The first thing I thought when I heard Bioshock would be shooter 2.0 was there would be no upgrading of physical stats, and the 'inventory' would be quite streamlined.

....and why is the thread titled "Fleet Hall"? WTF

I am actually hoping for a full inventory system, possibly based of weight or size of items. This could put more emphasis on thought as people will have to determine what they can and need to carry.

After playing STALKER and admiring that mechanic, I concur. However *using best cockney accent* not bloody likely.

There's a set list of weapons, so I'm betting you can carry all of them. Plasmids could be restricted in the number you carry, and combining them could reduce the weight overall.

And that is what computer game mods are for, implementing features that people think will go great with a game.

I would practically vomit if that were the case, that would be a particularly hideous bit of dumbing down. Aren't we supposed to be able pick up everyday objects and fashion weapon mods out of them and stuff? I'm really hoping to have a variety of things to collect with various purposes like SS2. In fact, about 5 minutes into the E3 demo doesn't the player pick up a bottle of wine? He puts his crosshairs over it and it disappears, at which point Ken says "You can even drink the alcohol from the bottles and that will have an effect on him in the game". It seems like an inventory would be necessary for that kind of stuff. I loved how in SS2 you could eat chips, drink soda, smoke cigarettes, use tons of different hypos, use implants, wear armor and even play handheld games, among other things. It would be great to have that kind of depth in BioShock, even the focus groups of lobotomized Neanderthals with Alzheimer's would love it! Maybe the next podcast could be about the interface? Because we haven't really heard anything about it, and it is one of the biggest causes for concern, after some of the things that happened with DX: IW.

I think a podcast concerning the inventory/HUD system might be more suited to a late june or early july release, mainly because it's a far more integral part of the actual play than we've been shown thus far and it seems like it might be better shown closer to the release date.
