cant install/run bioshock vista64

Purchased bioshock through steam.
Running vista64
intel core2 duo 6700
nvidia geforce 8800 gtx (latest drivers 162.22)
When the bioshock.exe is run it crashes like so

since the bioshock splash popped first i suspect its you guys i should be talking to

Had the exact same problem. Solution was to install latest Direct X for Vista 64. Evidently latest version will autoselect Direct X 9 compatability. New problem: Now BioShock runs only in windowed mode, which is better, but the widescreen settings cause a black screen, lockup, and reboot. I'm just glad this is the demo and I didn't waste my money on the full version. Too bad though. It looks like a good game. -R
