Bioshock.exe has stopped working. Full version, not the demo
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? It occurs when loading the game, every time. I haven't been able to get into the game at all.
I have the full retail version, not the demo.
Relevant system specs:
AMD Opteron 170 @ 2.95ghz
ATI X1950 XTX x2 in crossfire
2gb corsair xps memory
Enermax liberty 620w psu
Acer 22" wide screen @ 1680x1050

Hmmm yes I did try those, thanks for the excellent advice though.
Oh, why don't you use yours?

Check the firewall maybe. I got stuck at a little Bioshock logo. I fiddled with my firewall permissions and it started up.

Stopped Working
The demo works for me but not the full Steam version. I can't even get to the Bioshock bar. My system exceeds the minimum specs. The demo works well but I can't get to first base with the full Steam version. Looking forward to comments...

Ok thanks, I don't think that is the problem though because it says there is an error then it closes back to windows.
I also forgot to add that I am using Vista.

Stopped Working
Changing the firewall allowed the game to go further to displaying the little BioShock bar, but then I encounter the same stopped problem.

I tried that but it didn't get me any farther

I had a similar problem. As put by another poster, try adding -dx9 to the end of the target in the shortcut properties. Right after the quotes. I couldn't get past the black screen until I did this. One of the drawbacks is that you can't turn on the DirectX 10 water features. Hope this at least gets you playing...
Vista Ultimate
Core 2 Duo E6600
XFX GeForce 8600GTS
3GB RAM
etc.

try August DirectX release and (for me) 163.44 Nvidia drivers
