Does ANYBODY know why this happens and how to fix it?
If not, why in the name of the bowel movements of a big daddy did I shell out fifty bucks for some good-looking cover art, an instruction manual and a shiny frisbee?

My computer should run it just fine. All things above or at recommended.
If someone mentions graphics card, I'll go to australia, or Boston, and hold Irrational team members hostage until they release a patch that lets people, y'know...PLAY the game?

Sorry if I seem angry, but after paying a considerable amount of money for the clearly badly neglected PC version of this game, I feel I have somewhat of a right to actually play it, clearly 2K or Irrational disagree with me though.
