    Butterfly Pins

Hey all, new to the forum, this is my first post so I apologize ahead atime for any mistakes that may occur.

What I am discussing is not neccesarily a spoiler, but deals with a bit of information revealed in Cult of Rapture's "Voices from Bioshock 2"

In Sgt. Early Manley's diary changes, he reaveals that the followers of Lamb, before the events of BioShock 2 had a symbol of their allegiance- Butterfly Pins. I am replaying all of the Bioshock 1 trying to see if there is any of these pins on anyone or laying anywhere in rapture. Does anyone recall ever seeing any butterfly pins in the origonal bioshock?

No,there were never Butterfly pins in the first Bioshock.None that i can recall. Her influence spread to parts of rapture that Andrew Ryan didn't know existed or was aware of,obviously the levels we had been to were under ryan's control,so i could see why we've never seen these pins, yet.

yeah I was thinking maybe we could get some clue from bioshock one...maybe someone wearing one of the pins or pins a certain area to show that it was loyal to lamb.

The problem I see with this is that the concept for Bioshock 2 was not in anyones minds when they were making Bioshock, so having references to points of Sofia Lamb's "family" would not be possible.

Guess Lamb's Family really got known from 1961-

Plus, Jack never explored the parts of Rapture where Lamb was really well known. Guess that is one way of explaining the continuity error

Surely Lambs rise to power would've been after the events of Bioshock 1 anyway? At the time of Bioshock 1 they had Andrew Ryan and Atlas as the leaders. With them both dead, the throne was left wide open for anyone with a big enough idea.

    You don't know this.

You rarely use all your ideas when creating something this complex (game, movie, novel, etc). They spent years discussing the plot of BS1. I'm sure some of those ideas will make their way into BS2 and future games, in some form or another.

Doesn't mean they had Lamb in mind back then, but I would be surprised if something similar to her didn't come up at one time or another.

I think Ken's rapture is very different from Jordan's rapture.

Tell you what. Let's discuss the validity of that statement after you've played both games.

As Jack we went through some of the most important places of Rapture (Ryan's office, Fort frolic etc) as well as some of the less important places (all the apartments etc). Lamb had to have followers in some of these places.

The only real answer is that there's no pins in BS1 cause noone had idea what was going to be included in BS2 (or even if there would be a BS2)

I meant that Jordan is changing the structure behind bioshock, in his own words the philosophical contrast will form the backdrop allowing them to zoom in on a more personal story.
And I really doubt Ken would have had Sofia Lamb or any similar character in his head when working on bioshock.

Hmm. That sounds interesting. I doubt there is any pins in Bioshock 1 though. That sort of thing gets noticed extremely quick. And not by me lol.

I bet there's going to be an audio diary in which it is revealed that the butterfly pins were outlawed, as they were deemed harmful to the state of Rapture. It would go along perfectly with the rest of Ryan's censorship of critics. So when he died, and Lamb really took over, the pins re-appeared.

    There. Reconciled.
