DX9 mode not working with vista.

8800 here but dx10 runs to slow for some reason. I hear dx9 is like 100 times as fast and looks about as good. But it crashes whenever i try and run it.

    Could you provide more info.

How are you trying to run it in dx9 mode?
The correct method is to create a shortcut to the exe, right click on the shortcut and select properties. Then in the command line, after .exe add -dx9

If the game still crashes could you explain when it crashes and include any error messages.

    Thanks.

It's not any faster, but anyway you might just be missing some DX9 files. Download the latest redistributable.

Also runs perfectly here on a 8800 gts on Vista.

To run in DX9 mode right-click on the Bioshock icon in the Games folder and select "Play - DirectX9".

Assuming you're doing that, is it just a hard crash with no information? Does it not launch? Does it launch and then crash with an error?

I have ran the demo like 4 or 5 times with dx9 on without any problem on vista however just now like 1 minute ago the same thing happend to me. It only said bioshock.exe has stopped working blah blah. I hope this was a one time error because DX10 is ☺☺☺☺ while Dx9 runs smooth as hell

Hmm, not sure what to tell you. I'm running Bioshock on Vista Ultimate but I'm still using my 7950GT. I don't do anything special to start it up, but the DirectX 10 options are greyed out in the Video Options menu.
