Tell where was your favorite place or favorite character and why.
Tell where was your favorite place or favorite character and why.
'Sander Cohen. Why even ask?'
I really didn't like him, he was super super messed up in the head.
I would have to go with the obvious Andrew Ryan and the Smuggler's Hideout.
Actually, my favorite was Fontaine. I love how well he can judge people and situations despite having the vocabulary of a dockworker. He understands concepts like the conscience and social injustice and how powerful strong ideals can corrupt and destroy people.
Yet to him, its just another con.
My favorite place is probably the 'Welcome to Rapture' level.Probably because it so effectivle introduces the idea of Rapture then desftroys it in only a few minutes.
My favorite character was Jack. He had the ability to crash in an airplane, discover a messed up city and not freak out that he was underwater with a low chance of making it out alive.
My favorite location has to be Olympus Heights. It reminded me of City 17 in Half-Life 2.
My favorite person? Probably Sullivan. Why?:
He was one of those 'minor' characters that not many people even knw existed. I found his story 'or what there was of it' very interesting. How he didn't want to 'bump' Culpepper and right after he did he probably 'bumped' himself. He's one of the few characters that could still be alive and I really hope he is.
Secondary:
Steve Barker. He's the proud owner of the Kashmir Resturaunt and he doesn't want anyone telling him otherwise. He's the guy who you don't expect to survive and it looks as if he died in his own resturaunt. Poor guy
Favorite Place:
Neptune's Bounty. This place has a tale to tell. It's depressing, dark, and cool all at the same time. It's one of the only places where you see the dieing fish flopping on the floor.
Secondary:
Medical Pavillion. I love this place but I don't know why. It's scary as hell.
I love Andrew Ryan because of his awesome ideas, but I knew from the very start they couldn't work. True Capitalism is a very very hard thing to have with greed.
Sander Cohen in Fort Frolic hands down... I love listening to the audio diary " The Wild Bunny - by Sander Cohen"![]()
I like Dr. Steinman. I mean look at my pictureCoolest character in the game for me in terms of backround story. But my favorite area is Arcadia Glens. It is so peaceful in the trees.
My two most favourite places and characters are Cohen in Fort Frolic and Steinman in Medical Pavilion.
~Mari.
Favorite character: Andrew Ryan. Rarely do you see such a complex antagonist in a video game.
Favorite place: Fort Frolic. The atmosphere in there is beautiful and disturbing at the same time.
Fort Frolic, Neptune's Bounty.
My favorite characters are Peach Wilkins, Dr.Steinman and Sander Cohen.
Character:
Major: I like a lot of them, hahaha. It's really a draw. Andrew Ryan is really interesting, Cohen is hilarious, Atlas/Fontaine is a great villain, Tenanbaum has great character development. I guess it would be easiest to state my least favorite, Suchong. Why? I find very little about the prick likable, and it fills me with joy to see his corpse nailed to the table in this clinic.
Minor: Bill McDonagh, probably. I realize he isn't much more minor than say, Suchong, but minor enough. I like his level-headedness and his good nature. A close second is Anya Anderstotter. Her back story is pretty cool. Basically a more proactive Mariska Lutz. Amusingly, both characters can be found on Ryan's trophy wall.
Location:
Arcadia, followed by Fort Frolic.
My favourite character was Atlas, not fontaine i really liked the way Atlas convinced you nto doing things, but for levels is the elevator ride between proving grounds and fontaine, because there are 2 save points on each end of it![]()
I like Arcadia Glens cause its beautiful yet so creepy at the same time.
Also Medical Pavillion cause its just so disturbing lmao.
Favorite Character..Cohen of course! That guy entertains me to no end Haha. Such a likable nutjob...
Favourite Place:
Hephaestus, as the excitement of finally killing Andrew Ryan was with me throughout the entire level, and I was extremely interested in the bodies ("trophy pieces") speared to Ryans walls, and if there were stories centred around them.
Favourtie Character:
Sander Cohen, as he is completely messed up, and is completely oblivious to Raptures demise. He manipulates, and his sick sense of humour often made me laugh. He has his own little world, and is the only attackable enemy that doesnt want to kill Jack (other than Ryan, although you cant attack him)
My favourite place would have to be Fort Frolic, because it's huge, I love all the details, and I like seeing and being able to explore the various shops and businesses... Especially as it's not entirely wrecked like most of Rapture, it really gives you a good sense of what life in Rapture was like during its prime. It was also my favourite stage in the game, gameplay-wise, with a ton of memorable moments like being frozen and the battle against the Splicers in front of the quadtych. So much was packed into that one level that no other stage even comes close in terms of scale and detail, really... every part of Fort Frolic told its own story, from Sander Cohen, to your four targets, to Jasmine's relationship with Ryan.
In second place I'd go for the Medical Pavilion, a genuinely scary level that really set the stage for BioShock like no other level could have; it combined scares, a creepy atmosphere, a ton of detail, and perfectly intertwined philosophy and politics within the narrative and even the gameplay itself. Unfortunately, in my opinion, no other stage appealed to me quite as much as these two did... But I still love them all.![]()
As for favourite character, that's tougher... I think Andrew Ryan is fascinating, but Dr. Steinman was probably the creepiest character for me (yes, more so than Cohen, who I also like...) and as someone who is always intrigued by the ethical debates that surround interfering with nature, I found his audio diaries to be some of the most interesting. The dilemma of a plastic surgeon who has unlimited potential to reshape his clients, and knowing how far is too far, has so much potential, and his descent into madness as he sought to experiment with "new shapes" was well-documented. It's a shame - I wish this angle had been explored more in later stages, given that genetic engineering is a huge theme in the game.
I always found one of the biggest strengths of BioShock to be when each level - and their associated character - represented a particular philosophical or ethical debate, and I don't feel this was ever handled better than it was in the Medical Pavilion, with Steinman.
My favourite character would have to be martin finnegan. He
seems like a dark person, with sander cohen to blame. and when you hear his only few sentences. Wow. Son of a ***** left me to freeze....
favourite place is Rapture central control. Just because it holds
the greatest ever twist in a video game.
...don't have a fav charachter, but as far as place it's a tie between sander cohen's room and fontaine's penthouse for me...
Andrew Ryan is my favourite character by far, he is such an interesting character and I really felt pissed when we had to kill him; took it out on Fontaine though.
Favourite place, Rapture in general is just beautiful, when I was reading Atlas Shrugged I kept skipping ahead to read the Atlantis chapter.
My favorite character is Fontaine. My favorite place is Arcadia.
my fav character is andrew ryan, and place is Fort frolic
My favorite character is Pablo Navaro who I would really like to know more about, and I hope he returns in Bioshock 2 even though he probably got killed. I admired him because he knew how people worked, and had a good sense of humor while being smart at the same time (even though he didn't go to college).
My favorite place by far is Fort Frolic, because it really captures the feeling of the 40's and 50's, and you can do a lot of cool things there.
Andrew Ryan absolutely!
Favourite place....though one...Fort Frolic, but nowhere is bad at all...
Favourite character is Steinman. His insanity and goal to perfect beauty just makes him so incredibly interesting.
Can't pick one favourite location so I'll pick two; the Medical Pavilion and Neptune's Bounty. Two fantastic levels to introduce the player to the meaty part of Rapture.
I love Sander Cohen. The way that his insanity is portrayed is utterly brilliant.
I think it's pretty obvious who my favorite character is hehe. But my favorite place would have to be either Fort Frolic or the Medical Pavilion. Both seemed to make me tense a lot, just because I wasn't sure what was about to happen. Those evil Sculpture Splicers xD Scared me way to many times!

Fort Frolic and Andrew Ryan.
Sadly Proving Grounds has terrible gameplay. It looks really cool.
Top three characters would be
1) Andrew Ryan
2) Sander Cohen
3) Dr Suchong
Favourite place would probably be Fort Frolic at the moment.![]()
RYAN? COHEN? STEINMEN? WAT BOUT ME!!! im the coolest guy in the hole dern game!!!! i mean how could u like STEINMAN over me![]()
I take it you like Peach.
I didn't like him because he tried to ambush you, with a horde of guys, then failed miserably. He also was very unintelligent and jumpy.
Jack is my favorite character. His backstory interested me the most.
I enjoyed every level after Hephestus.
I gotta say Finnegan is my favorite. i wish i didnt have to kill him. "Son of a *****...Left me to Freeeezee." and "the Iceman Cometh, Sander baby. The iceman F***ing cometh." are badass.
i like olympus or medical. Both levels are fun to explore
Favorite places: 1-Welcome to Rapture
2-Medical Pavilion
Favorite Character: 1-Andrew Ryan
2-Winston Hoffner
Why? I love the intro that the game provides, it is quite intricate and the best opening to a game i have ever witnessed, and as you get deeper into the gameplay you begin to see more dark insanity
My favorite characters are Andrew Ryan mainly because he is a visionary and was the one who defied Governments to create his own Utopia (For that is what he set out to build, even though it was turned upside down by corruption and winston hoffner because he is the only one to have a memorial service in Rapture.
If Toasty constitutes as a character, it's definitely him. As for an actual character, it's gotta either be Ryan or Peach. In the case of the second game, it's Sinclair and of course Toasty again.
My favorite character in BioShock would either be Tenenbaum or Fontaine. My favorite place would either be the Medical Pavilion or Fort Frolic.
for bioshock would be Arcadia and of course, sander cohen. i loved the nature and it was beautiful when you cleared out the random poisonous fog >:O
SPOILER
for bioshock 2, it was Eleanor Lamb and Augustus Sinclair. Eleanor kicked ass and i felt like an lesbian for falling in love with her, and Sinclair, made me happy.
my favorite place is, i have no idea. i liked all of the places.
I love the Ducky-type splicers and also Ryan's lieutenant Sullivan, a sad remnant/reminder of the defunct Rapture/Ryan Security Force.
