    Xbox World 360 Magazine Coverage

I apologize if this topic has already been started but I'm on my BB storm so its hard and inconvenient to wade through other threads to check. So I was in borders and I saw the magazine that said 100% new info guaranteed and yes three is some good info in it. Has anyone else read this spread and want to discuss?

Every magazine always say they've got the first, which pisses me off.

In another forum they said the score was 90%, same as Mass Effect in the same issue.

Any negative points on the game?

Personally I find it a tad bit disheartening to see low scores, but then again Bioshock 1, and Bioshock 2 are completley 2 different animals.

    here yah go guys

PSM3 magazine has awarded the sequel 93%, saying "it tops the original in terms of storytelling and combat". PC Gamer was also positive, awarding the game 90%, commenting "it's still better written than pretty much anything else out there".

Ergh, I really need to start picking this magazine up again. Unfortunatly, I don't get it until a month after it comes out, and only then if I am lucky. I missed the AC2 issue a couple of months ago

I picked up a copy of this magazine.
The verdict was improved, dynamic gameplay, big sisters are great opponents, but rapture feels too familiar. It got scored 90%.

Just PM me if you want anymore info from the article.
I'll look through the article for ya.

I'll never understand this argument. Of COURSE it's familiar. It's the same damn city! Is Rapture supposed to drastically change from area to area? One part Art Deco, the next Victorian architecture, maybe some Gothic somewhere else? It's asinine. They should just come out and say, "We didn't want the sequel in Rapture." At least then they'd have an opinion that made a lick of sense.

I would've preffered if they actually gave a real negative point about the game...because from the 2 reviews I've read (the PSM3 is the only one that say's it's better than Bioshock 1 in basically every aspect) they seem to give BS reasons as negative points.

I mean really looks to similar? I mean there's no pop-up issue, graphical tear, aa issues, but rather it simply looks to similar.

Then why did they give it a 90%??? Unless there's more cons that they didn't mention...

some people, especially critics seem to LOOK for a problem.
BS1 had very few flaws, but i guess it's all in the eye of the beholder.

BS1 was just fast and frantic in my opinion, especially in the last sections.

The game was also one of the few games that made me stop-dead still stop-and just look around as if i was sight seeing, i would look out the windows when i got a moment, and i FELT like i was actually Jack, actually taking a break from the chaos that ensued constantly around me. a moment of sanity, surreal sanity, but sanit from what i was engaged in.

I personally think, another trip into this isn't a rehash and it isn't "familiar"
Rapture was a such a mysterious character in BS1, evenw ith the data we gained through the world, characters and diaries, It was massive and unexplored. As long as the levels keep thier feel and diversity but also their relationship to Rapture we got a feel fro in BS1 i think it'll be the right mix of, "here we go again" and "woah....". In my opinion, Rapture is something no game has ever given to us, i think a return visit isn't "familiar" but more like...."hell yes..."

First of all, thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Now were there any other complaints? What did they say about the story's quality?

Here, I'll give you a couple of quotes I can find in the aritcle about the story's quality...

'Bioshock 2's script has to be considered one of its biggest success stories; despite the large change between this game and last, nothing feels out of place or contradictory within the Bioshock mythology.'

'Those that greedily soaked up every puddle of the original's rich backstory will not be disappointed with the latest batch of audio logs scattered around the game world, many of which cleverly refer back to the events of the first game.'

And as for any other complaints, I don't see any. Looks like Bioshock 2 is a success. Although, I never doubted 2k Marin ever.

    Any other questions?

P.S. I also have the PSM3 version aswell, if anyone has any questions about that.

That's really cool, any more quotes about the quality of the story and combat as well as any issues with the game, for example

    Thanks for posting!

I would personally love to know any levels or how many levels there are and how long the game took them. any thoughts on how dual wielding works would rock as well....

glad to hear BS2 story is amazing. (like we doubted them...)

There may be some spoilers in this post here, so look away if you don't want anything spoiled.

Here is some stuff I've found in the article you may find interesting.

    • There is a new multiplayer exclusive plasmid called 'Geyser Trap', which you can use on yourself to propel your grotty avatar into the air.
    • 'So which Bioshock ending is the 'proper' one? In one amusing scene, you can eavesdrop on a bunch of Splicers discussing this very subject. All the poossible endings seem to have made it down to Rapture by Chinese whispers, but Jack's 'true' fate still remains a mystery.']
    • There also seems to be a screenshot they are showing. I quote; 'Hang on - why are we looking away from the action? Because we don't want to spoil the newest plasmid - it's the most powerful one yet, by far.'

Hope none of that spoils the game for you, but I did warn you.

    I'll give more later.

    Thanks for posting that, Mike.

Don't worry, the first two (geyser trap and the Splicers discussing which ending is canon) were revealed as far back as April of last year. Nothing new there to spoil anybody! But it is nice to see it reiterated, since a lot of folks have trouble wrapping their minds around the "how can both endings be canon?!?!" question. LOL

This point in particular interests me. This plasmid they don't want to reveal could be the Scout plasmid from the MTV article, or it could possibly be the yet unknown 11th plasmid. From their wording though, it sounds like there's only one new plasmid, and it's probably Scout. I'd be extremely excited htough if it were a totally different plasmid with new, cool abilities.

    Just a few more questions:

What exactly do they have to say about the Big Sister battles?

Did they comment on the graphics?

What else were they impressed by?

Thanks for posting this stuff Mike!

No level info? or new weapon info? I hope I don't come off as ungrateful, I really appreciate what you've been doing!

Also, in bioshock review thread, Tupello posted that he said 360 mag. said it was shorter then BS1, and if you played it like a shooter..."it'd be one of the shortest games you'd this gen"
    that was a bit disheartening.

Hehehe... sorry been a bit busy lately. xD I'll take some time to post that soon.
I don't remember reading anything about it being shorter and one of the shortest games this gen... weird.
