AVG says setup.exe is a virus?

Anyone else getting this? AVG Free is telling me setup.exe on the disc is a virus. I normally would just disable AVG and install anyway but I faintly remember a few cases where mass shipped things had viruses and crap, so I figured I'd see if anyone else is getting this.

I have AVG antivirus, and it told me some .exe files were viruses (virii?) when they weren't. I don't have Bioshock for PC so can't say for sure, but I'll bet it's AVG making a mistake. But don't sue me if it all goes horribly wrong...

Yeah, taking the chance now anyway. My desire for Bioshock is greater than my paranoia.

Though oddly enough there's both setup.exe and _setup.exe on the disc. AVG said setup.exe was the infected file, and when I clicked install on the autoplay menu nothing happened except my disc light flashed a bit, so then I opened up _setup.exe from explorer and the installer started. Maybe it's nothing but I'm still a bit paranoid.

It's Ken Levine and the Irrational team deliberately messing with you. Even before it's installed the PC version is causing you to question what conspiracies are going on around you!

I've submitted the file to grisoft, when you get a false positive with it you can send it to "Virus@grisoft.com" (zip it first so it can pass the no-exe file filters most mail daemons have) and they will check it out and add it to a whitelist

I think it has something to do with the heuristics in AVG.

if it's really bugging you and you can't wait for a fix, pm me and I'll tell you how to temporarily disable the resident shield.

This has come up before. The readme on the game disk states that some anti-virus programs may pick the setup.exe up as a trojan horse virus. This is due to the fact that it has code that effecitvely "phones home" for activation without the users expressed consent.

This isn't the first game that has had this issue and I'm sure it won't be the last.
