I mean game with similar System Requirements thas uses DX9 too.
Hey, is there any game to compare with mafia 2?
I mean game with similar System Requirements thas uses DX9 too.
it wont be a new crysis game
i guess one of the godfather games, or saints row games.
but to be on the safe side, update those requirements to 2010!![]()
see, this is why i got the 360, i don't need system requirements but im guessing probably godfather twos requirements
well i saw somewhere where 2k said it wont be THAT big requirements![]()
All games have the same generic requirements, at least 90% of them.
Here they are if I remember them right,
Minimum:
Single-core CPU with 2.8GHz or higher
Geforce 7800GT or higher with DX 9.0 support
2GB RAM
Windows XP/Vista/7 (f*** off macs)
Recommended:
Core 2 duo/Athlon X2 2.6Ghz or higher
Radeon HD 3470/Geforce 9800GT or higher with DX 9.0 (SM 3)
3GB RAM
Windows
And thanks to boxstation fanbois, Mafia 2 won't support DX-10, or quad-core CPU threading.
thanks a lot man![]()
i have also posted same thread before writing Mafia 2 system requirements and u have added one thng(game to compare with) and that have changed everythng..........
well, mr.habbuba u saw somewhere....... I also saw somewhere writingwell i saw somewhere where 2k said it wont be THAT big requirements

are you totaly crazy man????
thank god that i have ps3
grtz
those are not from 2K, 2K have released no specs.and it have written "2k production says that" which i pointed out........
I asked 2K Elizabeth (wrote her a pm about the FAQ topic) about the system requirements.Her answer was "we aren't ready to release the specs yet". Anyway I am still hoping that my 9800 (512MB)GT will handle the game at high details. If not I will be screwed cuz i bought it especially for Mafia II when i still thought it would be out in fall 2009...
It was high end when I bought it 6 months ago. The only game that i'm having problems with my current configuration is GTA IV and that what worries me. A can run Crysis on High without any problem and about 35-40 fps, but GTA IV requires 1 Gb of video memory to run on "high" which is strange. I know that the game isn't well optimized for PC but still it's the game that looks most like Mafia 2. I'm a huge fan of the original and I buy it only on PC so i really hope they optimize it and the majority of gamers with nvidia 9**** and ati 3**** and 4**** video cards and dual core CPUs can run the game on "high" with decent framerate.
^above:
GTA4 sucked major bowls. Ive tried the game with a 9800GX2, and even a 4870X2 to overcome memory issues, but the game lagged still, the shadows were fuzzy still, objects disappearing randomly, still, and so on...
I have a feeling that M2 borrows some tech. from UE 2.5, so most of us should be fine.
http://minimum-system-requirements.b...a-ii-2-pc.html
it is from blogsot........
^ I don`t believe it. It`s too heavy for an average user.
yep, its too mutch, cant be real!!
don't worry guys this is just a blogspot anyone can write anything........it hasn't been sayed offically by 2k so don't worry..
WTF? I didn't realize it was that bad. Now that you say it's laggy on 4870X2 it means it has really ****ed up engine. And i don't know about the UE 2.5 because it certainly has some similarities with Mafia II. But still from what i've seen in trailers Mafia II is probably the best looking 3-rd person game EVER. And 2k has the ambition to create huge world without loading moments which sounds a little heavy, but i hope they will do fine and make something like LS3D(the engine for Mafia) awsome looking for it's time and with relatively small system req.
how many times..
It's not true!
its just that it came like a chock
Hey guys my system is:
Windows Vista:Service Pack 1(64MB)
Ram:4 GB
VGA: Nvidia Ge-Force 9800GT
CPU:Intel Centrino 2, 2.13 MGhz
could i run the game in high details or not?
I acually belive so if its at the level of Gta IV
Ps: Well at least at medium settings
dont think it will be like gta iv..
This is why I have a PS3, because my old PC can't handle any game from 2006 to these days.
No problem man, we'll still be doing these types of favors, and for free!
No but seriously, if they wanted, they could've used DX 10. Don't blame consoles for that, since it's different developments according to 2K.
Bioshock 2...
does this mean there's still hope for me on Mafia II?Minimum system requirements:
* OS: Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7
* Processor: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3800+ 2.4Ghz or better, Intel Pentium 4 530 3.0Ghz Processor or better
* Memory: 2GB
* Graphics: NVIDIA 7800GT 256MB graphics card or better, ATI Radeon X1900 256MB graphics card or better
* DirectX: DirectX 9.0c
* Hard Drive: 11GB
* Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0C compliant sound card or onboard sound
Recommended system requirements:
* Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Dual Core 2.60Ghz, Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 Dual Core 2.13Ghz
* Memory: 3GB
* Graphics: NVIDIA 8800GT 512MB graphics card or better, ATI Radeon HD4830 512MB graphics card or better
i got a AMD Athlon 3500+ 64bit CPU which is only 2.2ghz BUT it's overclocked to 2409mhz which would pretty much put it at the level of the CPU mentioned here![]()

I don't want to dissapoint you but bioshock 2 uses unreal 2.5 engine without any updates and is one of the ugliest FPS this year. Don't get me wrong Mass effect 2 also uses the same engine and it looks amazing but it's updated and requires dual core CPU (2.0 Ghz) minimum i think. I really want them to release the specs but they have not so there is still hope fore 1 core CPU's but Mafia II looks beautiful and considering that it is open world I really don't want to think what the recommended specs would be...
so in other words... the odds are against me. it's probably still a long shot that i would be able to run it.
because i pretty much gave up on being able to run Mafia II sometime late last year...
...but i had some slim hope restored after seeing Bioshock II requirements but since you said what you said odds are not looking good for me.
p.s. i wonder if they actually made the game to take advantage of 64bit CPU instructions if that would help but odds are a 64bit CPU won't be utilized simply because there's still to many people using 32bit OS's but it does seem a lot of gamers lately are switching to 64bit. (i got Windows 7 Home Premium x64 myself) ... so in other words, it's all about the CORES nowadays to get the performances boosts. but i know nothing about coding but i suspect the 64bit instructions alone probably ain't no where near the performance boost you would get from more cores i would 'guess'. so basically if that's true, my idea of getting 64bit support probably won't do much for us single core users at the end of the day.

I don't know really. I have compared Mafia II with Mass Efect II. Actually i have heard that guys with single core CPUs manage to run it at a decent framerate and low details with no problem, but i can't tell you for sure which model of single core CPU(AMD or Intel). So when I was able to run the game with everything on MAX (even antialaysing) it really looks like mafia 2 on trailers. I mean the level of textures, the detail level, the face exprations, the lightning effects everytthing is great. The difference is thatt Mass Effect 2 is so ****in linear.You have one path to go and everything around you is like a static picture (it can moove, you can't get close to it). Also ME2 has great loading spaces (1 minute loading in every 30 minutes gameplay). That is why I said the odds for a single core are small. Because really like gameplay mechanics the only game you can compare Mafia II visually is GTA IV which required Quad Core (dor max and a damn good core 2 duo for min) and 1 GB (video for decent framerate). I really hope they don't make the pc version of mafia with such crappy requirements...
yeah, i dont think Mafia II will be anywhere near as bad as GTAIV's requirements where since that game seemed poorly coded etc etc as it obvious with it's massive requirements as you say.
but generally speaking... for single core CPU's mine is generally one of the better ones. at the time i built my PC (i.e. March 2006) AMD was better (i.e. faster) than Intel but once the 'Core 2 Duo' came out (which was not to long after i built my PC) Intel has been back on top ever since.
but at the end of the day i suspect a dual core will probably be the minimum, sadly... so i ain't getting my hopes up like they where about 8 months ago where i still felt like i had 'a chance' to run it even though i expected to be easily on the low end side.
my graphics card still seems to be OK (Geforce 7900GT 256MB) considering it's going on 4 years old but it's my CPU that pretty much kills my PC in terms of general gaming. ... at the time i built my PC i had a option of going with dual core at a slower Ghz or a single core with a faster clock speed but at that time the single core was better for games it seemed but obviously years later it would be been overall better to go with the 2.0ghz dual core AMD over the single core 2.2ghz (overclocked 2409mhz) AMD. but it's a little late to change my mind now lol
If your mainboard supports it you could install Amd Athlon 64 X2 5000+ for around 60$ which i think is fine dual core processor for the year to come...
my main problem is...
my mainboard is a 'Socket 939' which severely limits what i can do
since it seems like not long after that AMD switched to the AM2 type socket which means i am screwed and all the Socket 939 Dual Core CPU's i can find (on ebay etc) are WAY WAY overpriced.
so as you can see if it where not for my Mobo (i.e. ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe) only supporting Socket 939 i would not be in to bad of shape and i could upgrade to a half way decent CPU for a fair price as you said. but as is, i am pretty much stuck on basically upgrading mobo/cpu/ram and probably a PSU which means i am better off waiting til i get some decent cash and building a entirely new PC from scratch.

I advise you to buy xbox360 man. Its cheap and it hasn't any minimum specs. You can easily play without lags and sh*t.
cmon man, dont be sily.
just practise about one week, couple hours a day and you will upgrade your skills very well
i guess...
