Ohh! That's who Mike is! (Saw him in a photo) I remember him! He was the one in charge of the NY photo op! Oh yeah! Is it just me or 2K has the nicest staff ever? O_O
EDIT: LOL, In the NY event his helmet straps kept on falling off but in the Chicago event they replaced it with ball chains XD Nice replacement

Ok, so here's my recap now that I'm awake. I was planning on getting there around Navy Pier/Michigan Avenue around 3ish but like a few people, I had car problems. I found cheap gas at a gas station 30 miles from home and accidentally locked my keys in my car while still running. Cut to an hour later and I'm back on the road thanks to my coworker Richard. Despite all of that I was making decent time. Apparently people can't drive here and I saw a minor fender bender so I stayed and helped. Train #1 missed. Apparently God or whatever didn't want me making it yesterday. I ended up driving to North Chicago, caught an L train and successfully made it.

As far as the event, I was there at 5 figuring that there would be people there already waiting. I was kinda shocked that come 1800, there was maybe 20 of us there. Like I told Mike and Elizabeth, amazing job guys. The little sister was creepy (good job Mike with the makeup) and was really shocked to see that the big daddy's drill worked. I could see if it was plastic molding or something but credit goes to the guy in the suit for carrying that big metal drill and it rotating which can't be the easiest thing to control. Anyway, pictures were taken; the little sister was eerily skipping around, and it was great.

The cocktail hour was amazing as well. Thank you Red Bull for not only keeping me awake for 16 hour shifts but for having a great party. Those Vitalize drinks were fantastic.

I guess to condense everything, thanks guys for being so kind. In the past events that I've been to, generally people haven't been as kind to each other as we all were here. It was great meeting everybody and I hope that whenever Bioshock 3 and or the movie comes out, we'll have to do it again. And that time I hope the weather is better so my thin Sander Cohen suit will be managable.

Alright, after an exhausting bus ride home, and packing my stuff into my dorm room, I'm ready to write a summary. My day started off at 6:30 getting ready for my megabus to pick me up in cleveland at 8:15. After arriving at the bus stop early me and my friend chilled in tower city mall for some time until we were picked up and whisked off to Chicago. We got into the city at about 1:45, and walked around for some time. I still needed to buy some gauss tape for my costume so I stopped in a walgreens to pick up some supplies. Soon after we stopped for pizza at Lou Manlti's to kill some time. After Enjoying my first Chicago pizza (NY style is still better, sorry ) we took a taxi over to Navy Pier. After arriving 2 hours early, we had a ton of time to kill, so we decided to walk around. The inside was nice, but upstairs they had an inside garden which looked surprisingly a lot like Arcadia.

After mindlessly walking around it was finally time to put on my splicer costume I had worked on the night before. It took me about half and hour to do because I had some make-up work to do.... So by the time I got out I was greeted to some other splicers. I was really relieved to see other people had dressed up just so I didnt half to attract all of the looks inside of the pier. It was really awesome to meet everyone else that had gone, I can truly say I made myself a good bunch of friends that night. Anyways, we all sat and got to know each other for a while when out of no-where some man walk up to us. He just kind of casually said, "So what is this all about?" we explained to him that we "were a bunch of crazy denizens of an underwater community", as put by my friend the welder. He said he wasnt into video games, but he had something for us we might like. Thats when Delta and the little sister came out to greet us. Now I had seen the delta costume in online pictures, but to see it in real life is something completely different.

The suit was completely made from scratch, as the man (Mike) explained to us. It was so intricate with the plasmid tubes going through the suit, the actual rotating drill, and the body work. It really was a work of art. We all took pictures for an hour, talked more to Mike, and had an awesome time. Thats when they handed out invites to the cocktail hour, which I happily went to. We exited the front of the pier where an escort service was ready to take us over to the bar. As we all sat in the van, which was very nice actually, I stared at the over-head T.V to see if some message was going to be given to us. We all joked about it. We arrived at the bar not to long after, sat down and had some great conversations with mike and had an over-all awesome time. There was a costume contest not too long into it where to splicers won some masks. A bunny mask and butterfly mask was handed out to the winners. (I had brought my mask from SITS so I participated, but not expecting to win anyways).

I really have to say that Elizabeth has really gone heads over heels for this whole thing. I have not seen a company so dedicated to their fans that they actually pay for food and drink at an after-party. The real star of the night was mike of course, he told us awesome stories, gave us background info on planning these things and putting together all the swag. Just such an interesting guy, I have to give a lot of credit to him. Then meeting everyone was such a blast, I met the best people that night, so congrats to everyone. I had bought a throw away camera that day so it may take me a bit to develope the pictures and scan them in, so look for those soon. Once again thanks to everyone! Now I have to get back and catch up with SITS!!!!

    Here's my summary:

My Dad and I left at about 4:00 PM and parked in his reserved parking spot in a lot nearby Navy Pier. From there we took a cab to Navy Pier (Don't ask why). I hadn't seen the 'Moving Event Inside' post on the Cult of Rapture website. So I was standing out in the cold waiting for a Splicers of some sort to show up. So I gave up and started to head back towards Navy Pier. I walked in to maybe buy a sovenier to make it partially worth-while when I spotted in the distance s couple of Splicers. I eagerly greeted them, they didn't seem interested so I sat on the stage, waiting for 2K. Then Mike comes out (But I thought he was just an average guy wondering what was going on). He asked the Splicers what they were doing and they replied. Then Delta and the LS walk out and everyone stares at them, some cheering. They started taking pictures and then I got a little annoyed. I saw some teenager walking around with a 'Splicers Unite!' Bag-like thing thinking he was a Bioshock fan. I eagerly shout, "Hello, fellow Rapturian!" and he gives me this weird look that I could tell was, "WTF are you talking about?" so we had some fun, and I got a Jester Splicer Mask for being a 'funny guy'.

The afterparty was long and everyone knew what I was talking about. It's been a long time since i've had this much fun

    Talking Summary Time!!!!!!!

i left home with my freinds and my mom at about 5:15 (we were well aware the event started at 6:00) we were angry on the bus.... then after about 45 min, we got to navy peir and i swore outloud then ran to the pav stage, i saw big D and lil Sis walking away and said "WAITTT!!!" some freindly nearby splicer took my ppic with them, then big d drank root beer LOL. after i met mike and after about 5 min of talking he realized i was stupid question guy. we got invites to go to the after party. we waited by the lobby, and little boy mentioned "turdsandwich" from the forums, and everyone laffed, then the shuttle came and we didnt fit... so we said "well wait for the next bathyspher, thank you..." then i waved at the departing splicers.... then while waiting for the next one we saw lil sis wrapped in a blanket making a getaway..then the shuttle came we went to the after party, (my freinds made the joke 'is this the modern warfare 2 convenion??') then i talked to mike somore and the forum dudes and i saw the "red bull plasmids" leaflets...then i went home and my mask broke and then i fixed it and then i went to sleep and i woke up and then i wrote this........(srry if this is long)

Me too. Lots of worries about traveling, especially when cold up north. Good to know it went great without too much troubles for all the Chicago splicers.

Except for the TheMystic's tire issue.

I have read Atlas Shrugged and it is honestly one of the best books that I have ever read. If you want something less daunting you can start with The Fountainhead... it is about half as long but probably had about as much influence as Atlas Shrugged.

The book itself is an easy read, it starts slowly but it really picks up. If you are anything like me I couldn't stop reading it and had it finished within the week that I started... we should make a new thread about this perhaps.

Yeah, I read it through most of last year xD I got it at the beginning of March, and finished reading it sometime in August. It was a great read, the only negative things I have to say about it is that there are some dry portions to the story where I took a few weeks of break from reading it, just because I was bored with it.

If you're not personally invested in the philosophy and find it fascinating though, it's going to be absolute hell getting through it though. xD

    ----

Edit: The length of time it took me to raed won't affect you <.< I have massive ADD and am forced to read the same page a good three to five times until I have all the details down.
