I have the same problem and I called customer support and they have no idea. They said call back in 24 hours and they will try to figure it out. If you read the letter from Ken Levine he said that he feels bad for all of the problems people are having and will work to fix them but most of the team is on vacation now and he explains that they have worked 7 days for six months. So I think this may take a while. I have other games to play and I bought this with a GC so I don't mind that much, although I should have bought a 360 version, but I like playing games and watching TV at the same time, so if I can help it I buy PC.

Try turning off hardware acceleration for the sound (EAX). That worked for me.

I have the exact same problem, no sound in-game after pre-rendered stuff and menues, and the guy and the splicer are frozen (btw, the guy adn splicer will eventually start moving properly, but sound never returns)

    AMD Athlon X2 4200 2.2ghz
    2GB Kingston ValueRAM
    ATi Radeon HD2900XT 512MB
    Realtek HD Audio

Tried updating my audio drivers to no avail...
