    Ok, now I'm pissed...

So, after buying it in-store, all happy and excited.....

I activate it, and here's the intro then menu...

I click "medium" and know what?

    Game locks / freezes up.

    Wtf?

    Red face

You activated it, so you have a PC version. Fine.

Do you have the last drivers for your CG ? Do you have a CG that can handle such a game ?

Do you have the latest version au DX9 or 10 ?

Anything else ? Check out the settings in your ATI Tray Tools/nVidia Control Panels, in case you have activated special option within the games.

Check out the graphical option menu in the game to see if something is wrong with your rig.

Did you try to reboot the game and try to play it again? Or did the same thing happen?

Man that sucks MOS. Maybe a bad DVD burn? Those happen.

I bought a game on DVD that was completely blank.

Try a reboot...I am sorry man that has to just suck.

I guess more and more my steam purchase is looking better...I hope this is isolated.

Try running it in windowed mode, that seemed to fix any freeze problems on the demo.

edit, you can tell when its that coz the loading screen appears, but it doesn't light up properly, stays a dim tone.

    All updated. Have rebooted.

After the first time I realized it / happened, I then decided to download the beta, no luck...

Ok I'll try your method, fpad, thanks.

Enjoy, lemme know if it works, because that happened to me so if its actually a problem then I hope there's a fix for it, because it'll be ridiculous if you have to switch to window mode for every loading screen..

Those retail discs are not made by "burning" like we do at home. Its more like "pressing" actually

    No luck.

I don't know what to do.

When after it has been installed for the first time and launched for the first time, the game launced in a windowed mode first........I didn't expect that. Then, I changed its resolution in options and got back to full-screen normal.

Hmmm just out of curiousity try running it in XP compatibility mode (right click game .exe > properties > compatibility tab).

Before you go to that extent though try disabling desktop composition (improved my ability to run 2142) through the same tab.

    I found the problem.

    I click "Play - DirectX9"

It went successful. I've been able to get into the game. Everything's smooth now. Thanks a lot, fpad77.

    Wow.

Guess DX10 still has problems, huh?

I'm off to playing it. Thanks again, guys.

I'd try reinstalling Dx10 in that case.

Alright now, cut me some slack, I am not up to date with all of the latest technologies unless it has something to do with the Q-Course, CQC, or any other modifications to the current AR's. LOL...so not all of us are CD geniuses.

I have Company Of Heroes DX10 demo, have zero problems running it

I now notice when playing it, it would quit back to the desktop whenever which I have no idea why. For example, I tried quick saving it, by pressing F8, and it crashed me back to the desktop. When I wanted to use something ("E"), it crashed me back to it, too. Damn....

    I got the problem.

I've been able to play it with no lock ups only in windowed mode, it's working perfectly in windowed mode.
