Lightbulb This question is for 2K Elizabeth...

Ok, so recently I've decided to change my major from computer animation to..well..I dont know yet. So I am trying to get ideas from different people in the entertainment industry. I really like what 2K Elizabeth has done with the whole Something in the Sea website campaign. So My question is -

Elizabeth, What is your job title, what are the requirement to it, and what did you have to major in college to have such an awesome job. I would really like to hear back from you as soon as possible.

I was thinking maybe it is in the lines of Internet Marketing degree or some type of Entertainment Business degree. Also I would like to hear from other peoples thoughts as well.

**On a side note - Elizabeth, I have recently moved out of state, so the address that I sent on the letter to Mark is different then the one I have now. I have already received my record (which is awesome, btw) before I moved. But I wasn't sure how I should send you my new address, (such as another letter or a p.m.) I don't want to miss out if 2K is going to send out any other "surprises" in the near future for Bioshock 2..**

Thank you in Advanced, Elizabeth..you are awesome!

2K Boston is looking for a Marketing Manager. Not entry level but the announcement should give you an idea what to focus on:

I want to hear from others on the board.

And besides, maybe there are others here that might have the same questions as I do.

I'm happy to answer your question. Maybe a couple of you will be interested in the answer, too.

I always knew I wanted to go into marketing, so after high school and through college I spent my summers (and got a part time job during school) working in the field. Upon graduation, I found myself a job in marketing, and from there drifted into the world of dot-com stuff. I have always been fascinated with new technologies and online marketing, and that's what I trended towards.

I never intended to be in video games, but I'm an avid gamer so when 2K Games created this position and I was asked to apply, it seemed like the perfect job. I've been lucky here and surrounded by amazing people who have let me grow and do some really crazy stuff, and I do interactive marketing and community related stuff for the company.

My technical major in college was English and Creative Writing. I always knew I wanted that degree, but I also always knew I wanted to make a living in marketing and write in my spare time.

I always recommend for people to study the core principles of the field they are interested in, and build their portfolio with real-world experience. Be it programming, design, or marketing, that advice stays the same. Yes, a marketing degree will be awesome and if you want that, go for it! But get yourself in a job, or intern somewhere, and see how it actually works in the real world. That's the best way to find out if you really like that job.
