    Knights Tour t-shirt Design

    Hi guys,

Some of you my have seen this idea floating around the November General Discussion thread, but I decided that there has been enough interest to start up a seperate thread.

Basically this weekend has been great fun 'solving' (hopefully ) the 8X8 (big ups to Vulpius). This has show cased to me just how intelligent and community orientated all the folks on this forum here are. While working on the 8x8 puzzle I noticed that you can get some really cool patterns from a knight's tour. As such I posted the final pic which, to my surprise, was meet with lots of positive comments.

Several people around the forum (little_moth and janissary12 - hope you don't mind me naming you here) put forth the idea of a t-shirt based on the knight's pattern. Little_moth has some great ideas for actually making some of these shirts, if there is interest for them. So I've got together a few images (10) and was wondering... if you were to pick one of the t-shirt's which would it be?

As I'm a real forum noob I wasn't sure of the best way of posting them. I'm going to reserve the next post and have all 10 images linked in there for your viewing. I'll try to set up a poll as well, so we can gage what everyone thinks.

I like # 3. It has a good color scheme, and the Rapture-like font on the front is really eye catching. Good work on all of these!

Will the tag at the neck really have a knight on it ?

Thanks Haha, yeah that was something I was playing around with. I would like to keep the knight on there somewhere.

I Like the 9th best. Because you have stated "There's Something in the Sea" most people that have played Bioshock and taken interest enough to visit the sites would instantly recognize this and then the few smartasses in the area might recognize the knights tour. good idea but I think you need to work on your blending a bit more, the font for this particular t-shirt is very bold and clashes with the shirts colour slightly...maybe not in real life but I think it would look a lot better if you would softly erase some areas of the statement as if it were ghostly (almost like how you would montage random images to make "Art").

    Cool

I think I like the design of 10 a lot, although I would not buy it because I do not like the slogan "WE ARE NOT RED PAWNS". I do really like the font and the splatter / flourishes.

I would buy and wear #9 ... BUT: It needs to say "There's", not "Theres"

Close behind that is #8. Pretty cool ... BUT, again, one thing breaking the deal is that it reads "There's 64 steps ..." when it should be "There are 64 steps..."

I'm so sorry to be hyper-critical ... just being honest. I wouldn't wear those shirts with the mistakes on them, but I would wear 9 a lot if it was correct.

You obviously did a lot of work on these and I think they look great. Best of luck!

I'd love to have one of these. 3 is the best IMO thanks largely to the Rapture-esque font.

3 and 8 are my picks. Produce either of these and you'll have my interest at least.

I voted for 3, but I like both 3 and 8 (though, I agree with Xybot that it should be "There are 64 steps...")

I would (will) wear this shirt proudly all the time!

You don't think any of this stuff is a violation of intellectual property rights by 2K do you? I know it doesn't specifically say anything about Bioshock on there, but you could argue this all came about from SiTs. True that they got a lot of the content from Lewis Carroll, but I'm just saying. Maybe you guys need an "ok" from 2K that it's okay to make these shirts.

Since I can't vote for all the ones I would kill to buy/have made, I'm going to rank them all in order of preferance:

6 -this is my favorite, but I would prefer it in black rather than in white.
3- I love the grey on this won. I'd say 6 and 3 are tied
    2,8,9 - love them all.

Yeah, six and three are my favorites. If you don't get them made, I'm honestly thinking about stealing them and going to a local t-shirt maker store. They might be willing to make me them.

    Thumbs up

That's great, SS, very nice work indeed. At first I thought, "Oh, #1 is fine", but I wound up voting for #9, although #3 is a fav too.

Good work, and piss on the doubters!

Actually, it's all so vague and tangential I think they wouldn't have much of a case.

AND, they'd piss off so many people, and get so little in return, it would be an all-around loss for 2K. They'd spend more than they got just in having a lawyer send ONE letter.

I'm liking the designs, but I have to say that some of them seem a little...dark for SitS. Erm, let me rephrase that...a little more of a horror aesthetic than the game's been thus far. SitS, design-wise, has more of a steampunk/art-deco feel, to go with the overall design of Bioshock itself.

Argh. I'm bad at explaining. Let me try and mock up an example of what I mean.

Also, do you think it'd be possible to make "One Old Loon" using Lutwidge's actual handwriting? I always thought the stuff he wrote when he was proper crazy looked pretty neat .

Thanks for all the input guys. I guess I did go a bit over board, got a bit excited. It was a nice break to use photoshop for something other than creating scientific figures.

The last thing I wanted was to annoy 2K in anyway.

This is gonna be close between 3 and 9. When is the voting supposed to "end", and if it does, should we have a run-off between the top 2 or 3 vote-getters?

I think having a '2nd' round of the top contenders is a good idea. What does everyone else think?

I agree with all the coments on gramma. That can be changed at anytime, the font is really arbitrary in the sense that anything can be quickly placed on there (as I have done).

Again thanks for all your comments and ideas guys. If anyone would like to play with the .psd files just PM me.

These are fabulous! I voted for 3, but I like the color scheme in 4 too. A few of my friends who are also into SitS were talking about wanting a more 'sea'-oriented shirt, so I put something together... sorry about the quality, my photoshop's not working so all I've got is MS Paint.

The text says 'there's something in the sea' if you can't read it.
