    System, Bio/Shock movies...

Hey guys, I'm a director/writer looking to write and pitch some scripts on the Systemshock and Bioshock universes.

I wanted to get a feel for what the die-hard fans of these franchises think about bringing the story(s) to the big screen. Do you think it could work?

Do you think the big screen will be able to immerse viewers with that distinct resonating eeriness and fear as well as the game? Or is this something best left for game entertainment only?

The same applies to Bioshock, although I have not played it, I do know the same team that made Systemshock 2 is working on it and they are by far the most skilled atmospheric artists to bring any video game into reality, and I love what they're doing with the Rapture world and I feel I could easily bring it into script format.

I look forward to hearing what you guys think.

    Thanks.

Really? What have you done? Anything I might have seen?

Until two days passes and the above questions remain unanswered I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you really are a director/writer who actually works as such and deal with the rest of your post on that basis.

Great. I'd love to see a System Shock and/or BioShock movie.

Do you think it could work? You're the director/writer. Your opinion is the one that counts. Some of the greatest films ever made are of one man's vision who believed something could work when no-one else thought so. From what you posted it seems that you already have some belief in such a project. If you do then I would say go for it and don't let anyone put you off.

Maybe. I hear the big screen has immersed viewers before.

Now why would you want to do that when games have such a great track record as films? Now where's that DVD of Doom...

Then do it. Write your script (since it's so easy). Take it to Take-Two and sell them on the idea. If it has merit then they will surely jump at the idea. Why wouldn't they? They're in business to make money after all.

wow!-I admire youre ambition-the best advice i can offer would be stay true to your source material, but endow your project with its own unique narrative.
in plain terms, dont be tempted to film the games that you have played.
i waited ages for the silent hill movie, but was ulltimatley dissapointed, because the director had simply filmed his favourite scenes from that game and bolted them together.

Anyway,i wish you the best of luck-be inspired
