Bioshock PC Demo bug preventing the game from using all the system resources?

Since downloading the PC demo, I've been having a pretty weird problem.
My system is well above the recommended specs(Core Quad, 8800GTX, 2GB RAM, running on Vista), I launch the game, everything works fine in the menu. Then I start up the actual demo itself. I get a black screen with a hint of the actual loading screen, and Bioshock just hangs up. I tried pretty much every suggestion I had seen, from disabling high detail shaders to lowering the resolution.
Nothing really helps, save for one thing: running the game in windowed mode. It runs, but then, I get very low(5-20) FPS everywhere, horrible jerkiness of the screen, et cetera.
I noticed one weird detail: the CPU usage listed in the Windows Task Manager never goes above 25%(it apparently uses only one core for some reason), and the memory usage doesn't go above 370MBs, which is weird as well.
So, how would I fix this particular problem, or is there any kind of hotfix planned for the final PC release, which I am still eagerly expecting?

Oh, and just so to note, I've tried the new NVidia drivers already-which didn't really help me any.

Did you not read the post on The Cult of Rapture that warned to WAIT to download the demo until 7PM EST? This problem may exist because you downloaded a leaked version. The warning clearly says that the official demo release is timed in juxtaposition with graphics drivers, and what you are having sounds like a graphics problem. At least wait until people are actually supposed to have the demo before citing bugs, update your drivers and see if the problem persists.

I`m having exacley the same issues m8.
Although the demo starts when the plane crashes at the begining i get inside the tower then the intro bit comes on in the lift.
It then goes to a loading screen but nothing mine crashes after that
I`m going to install this dual core timing fix which come with the demo package.
If nothing else works i`ll try updating the direct x, If still no chance i`m stuck
    My rig is......

7950 gt ko 512 mbs card
    4400x2 amd cpu.
    1 gig of ram.

Looking at your comp m8 you should max everything without any problems.
Try that with the direct x could be an issue?
Hope some peeps can help us out here.

Good point it could be that?

Well, while that's true, however, the drivers are already out, and as I said, they didn't help at all. I doubt the underusage of system resources is related to them too. Though, yes, I will try and redownload the demo once it's officially out.

    The drivers are already here:

    Or did I misunderstand something?

Ok, seems there is a solution to this: set the game to run on admin privilegies. Open properties for demo shortcut->go to shortcut tab->advanced button->check run as administrator.
Also, run it in windowed mode.
That helped me, I'm running it now in DX10 at 1600x1200 with everything on full at a smooth 60FPS framerate!

Im having the same problem, demo installs fine I can access/change the settings in the menu fine but after I select a difficulty to load the game and play it just hangs and stops responding. Its mostly black with a hint of the loading screen barely visible but nothing happens and task manager reports it as "Not Responding".

The only when I can play it is in windowed mode, but I dont wan't to play in windowed mode. Got the latest beta Bioshock Nvida driver, latest dx10, everything up to date. Ive reinstalled the demo twice from two different locations as well as the Nvidia drivers and its a no go.

    Please help!
