Cannot connect on Borderlands

I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong section...

However:

I bought borderlands today, installed it and played it until I got to level 7. Then I got stuck on a quest that a sniper or Siren would do me wonders.

My problem is that when I go to online, and go to join game, my game crashes. Alt f4 doesn't work and so I have to open task manager.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm running vista, I tried turning off my antivirus and running in administrator mode. And my computer CAN run this, on max settings too.

Ok, I figured it out, because of Vista (I think) you have to run it in compatibility mode. And then it works.
