@ Crouton.....Agreed.
Comon' 2k. The weekend is here. Two of my buds just picked up the game at Best Buy earlier this morning. I have no plans this weekend as the weather is miserable where I live. I gotta a case of beer chillin' in the fridge for later this evening. Don't leave us hanging with what is currently a drink coaster.
GIVE ME WHAT I NEED, BABY!!!![]()
Well if anyone can tell us something its probably Liz. so i guess all we can do is wait on a post from her.![]()
What's really sad is that two of the genres that Borderlands borrows most heavily from (First-Person Shooter and Action-RPG) were both initially developed for and thrived upon the PC gaming platform.
Yet here we are roughly 15 years later and not only is the PC version treated as an after thought (console-style menus Gearbox?!?!), but the PC-gaming consumer is obviously seen as nothing more than a potential console-gamer convert.

I take that back. We aren't treated as an inconvenience. We're treated as perpetual crooks.
An Email response I got back concerning the early release. I hate the be the bearer of bad news.![]()
I don't understand why this hasn't been said other then, they are riding this HYPE WAVE. Thank you everyone at 2K for your efforts in this matter. Just let the cat out of the bag tho yea?
"Dear Sir/Madam,
We did set the release date for the game at the 27'th. Unfortunately some retailers and online shops decided to sell the game before that date, creating the activation issue.
The activation server will not go live until the 26'th, so I do apologize for any inconvenience that you have with the game.
Kind regards,
Kim
Technical Support"
PS. feel free to post this on the gearbox forums, I am not even going to bother registering for the forums. I prefer the Lurker mode.

Hmm, well if the activication servers are going online on the 26th then 2k should really tell steam and other digital distributers to unlock the game on the 26th for people in Europe rather than the 30th..
I'm just as ticked as you guys . trust me . which has probably cost 2k my business for years to come
but this is a post of another kind
do you realize that if The amount of people getting mas over broken release dates, a company making 1 class of people suffer to extort money out of 2 other classes of people for more money
Lies
wow .. kinda sounds like ...
The Government :-)
and if we had this many people that were active for and against things going on in the government . well . I think alot of the issues we have today would be non existent lol
its like a militia we got going on here .. im just glad my address isnt known to everyone lol
She's a customer service representative and likely doesn't know anything about this whole situation. She's just following protocol and saying what she was told to say from the beginning. The higher ups seem to be considering changing the date, but the are sure taking a while to let us know what's going on.
not necissarily, thats just a tech support response.
if the decision came down to release early, it would change everything.
on another note.
You know what bothers me most about it being released on the 26th?
according to steam, its being released around noon.
now thats just uncalled for and immature.
That's such bull****. Where's the activation requirement on console versions? Where's the DRM? They create these ****ing hurdles for us to jump through for no good reason other than to discourage us from gaming on the PC.
Hell, even Microsoft is ceasing development on Flight Simulator (which, although a niche genre, has always been their quintessential PC contribution) on their own operating system. This is just another indication that PC gaming is being phased out by the industry plain and simple.
2K Games may not have caused the release date to be broken but they sure as hell are responsible for
-PC delay
-DRM
-activation
-no CD key
It's all a bunch of bull****. Just go out and by a console today and get it over with. We're up against a bunch of apathetic *******s with money to burn.

Let's hope we get a response soon. Also do those of us in the gaming public have to make another No DRM statement like what happened to Spore?
Well, unless they give an official response to say otherwise - I'll be getting my money back through Steam for my 4-pack (none have been gifted yet). Not that they will mind me doing so, but at least I'll have my peace with it. The gaming industry is really starting to go down the drain.
I do have them to thank for saving me about $140 :P
Also i forgot to mention, I am for the early release. If the game has no patch in development and we are only waiting on the DRM... well that is just silly right? Plus all the research i have found points to 2K being the final decision. So please 2K put a smile the PC crowds face, you wont regret having us as fans...

Apperently randy pitchford also says there's nothing he can do

So I really doubt there gonna do anything about this. 2K really doesnt care to much about PC gamers.
Bio shock had this exact same problem of early PC release, 2K just blew smoke up our bums about them trying to decide if they were gonna unlock early and just made us wait till the release day anyways.
It's pathetic, PC is for the real gamers, but we are squandered
2k has lost a customer from the way they've handled the situation.
No one at Gearbox was ever believed to be able to change the release date, that is the entire purpose of contacting 2K Games. Unless a moderator returns to tell us that they will not unlock the game early, there is no point in guessing as to if it is over or not. The 27th, also, isn't even the correct release date for the game.
It's bloody ridiculous that there's no official reply on GBX's or 2K's OWN FORUMS but rather on some games news site.
At least tell steam to unlock the game on the 26th for Europeans, otherwise I'm not taking this bull**** and I know a lot of people that are going to pirate it the SECOND it comes out while they're waiting another WEEK for NO REASON AT ALL.
I'm going to think very carefully about it, next time I think about buying a game published by 2K.

At least give us this apparent "F*** you" straight into our faces here and on the GBX forums instead of running to some outer source.
I lost almost all of my hope now but I'm going to wait for a reply by Elizabeth or ennui before I completely loose my mind.
Hey guys,
Yesterday we learned that a fraction of the PC copies of Borderlands were accidentally sold to consumers in some countries but that gamers could not activate their copies yet. Since we learned of this problem, we have been looking into the issue to find the best possible solution for everyone.
I'm going to be completely honest with you guys right now. It is not possible for us to move the planned release date of the game forward. We could not possibly get the games into stores worldwide and out for digital distribution any earlier than planned. Less than 1% of all copies were sold, and if we unlocked the game today, illegal versions would most likely appear on torrents by the evening. I am sure all of you want our PC launch to be as successful as possible, and we simply won't be able to manage that any earlier than already planned.
I want to apologize for those of you who have gotten the game ahead of our release date, and ask for your patience and understanding. The game will be ready in the US and Canada at midnight eastern standard time on Monday, October 26th, and internationally by Friday, October 30th.
-Elizabeth
God damnit..
At least bloody push the steam release to the 26th. I can tell you that EVERY European that bought the game is going to pirate the versions that are going to be on the net starting Monday/Tuesday. Those that bought it and aren't going to wait for arbitrary reasons and those that didn't buy it and just pirate it without supporting GBX.
And those are going to be a s***load of people.
