    Explanation please 2K

The BioShock Limited Edition will be available to US and Canada exclusively at GameStop and EB for US$59.99 (PC LE) and US$69.99 (Xbox 360™ LE). The Limited Edition will also be available in Europe and details about ordering a copy will be coming soon.
Just what is up with 2K? This is the second time (there may be more, I only know of 2), when you have released a limited edition of a game in certain territiories only. You did it with the Prey Limited Edition, now you are doing it with BioShock.

I would like an explanation and I would prefer the truth, whatever that may be.

Admins, please do not close this thread. This is not a discussion about the BioShock LE. This is a discussion about 2K's policy of releasing the LE for any game only in certain territories.

Well since PREY was region free I imported mine even though it was the WORST collectors ever made! Cheap and tacky and the DISC was pressed on the inside against the METAL!! but disc was ruined!!!

Yeh, I also imported a copy of the Prey Limited Edition which proved very expensive. That idea of placing the disc on a piece of rubber stuck on the tin was the worst ever. Usually the disc came loose and got scratched. The best thing about the Prey LE was the cool metal tin.

I asked for a while back and am hopeful that as one of our "Cult Member Perks" we will be able to buy the LE direct from 2K. No answer yet

To be honest,I'm really unsure about special editions in general, they seem to me,cynical easy money marketing aimed at the adoring fans who frankly deserve better than a cheap tin,a few stickers and normally a pretty dire making of dvd-I'm keeping an open mind about the bioshock one and hope its going to buck the trend.
in general most of the"exclusive" features on offer are readily availible for free if you look around,i certainly wont be making any hasty pre-order.

    Hi Laser,

Right now, we're in the works trying to figure out how and where to distribute the Limited Edition. I talked to 1Up yesterday about why we used only EB and Gamestop for distribution, and I feel that this answer also extends to your question. While many Limited Editions are planned over six months in advance, we've been pulling this together in the past month, before your eyes. All the details are not hammer out yet and we're working as diligently as possible to ramp up production to get the Limited Edition into as many hands as want them, but simply, it takes time.

I'll be sure to keep you updated on what territories outside of the US are receiving the LE as soon as we ourselves know!

I'm living in Malaysia, and I am really a big fan of Irrational games from the System Shock 2 times. I'm desperate to get the LE, and seeing as I just started working, I can afford the LE. But the thing is, is it even going to be available outside of the US? It's gonna cost like 20% of my salary and I'm willing to pay it, and from what I see on the site, it should be worth it. But it's gonna be pointless if my area won't be getting any. Overseas shipping is a bad idea. With the system and efficiency of my beloved country, it will never reach my hands. So I need it to be on shelves.. Thanks for any consideration =)

Funny how Elizabeth didnt really answer the question.

Well how about just make the game region free? Like PREY? I will just import it then.

Hey Bald what if the game is region locked? Then what?

Well and you wonder why we cross the river?
I'm from Mexico and its incredible we arent gonna get the LE here, we have the North American Free Trade Agreement but we never get anything cool in our hands...
why I say this, simply... My friends and I have been trying to get our LE copies of Bioshock from ebgames/gamestop.com but when we proceed to check out it says the product cant be shipped internationally, so I called the store's representative and after 30 mins waiting on the line ( no toll free number to call from mexico to U.S.) I was told to try from barnes & noble.
With Credit card on hand I go to Barnes and Noble and read a legend next to the pre-order button "These items ship to U.S. addresses only."

So, what the heck is this? Racism? discrimination? you name it.

I have 2 plans of action left.

Ebay ( and get scammed) or.

1.- Since my passport U.S. visa expired I'll have to get to the Rio Bravo.
2.- Swim across the river simulating I'm playing some stealth game like MGS or TC Splinter Cell and avoid the border patrol
3.- Avoid the crazy Minutemen monitoring the area (deadly as Vampire rain nightwalkers)
4.- Travel tru desert and find a city with ebgames/gamestop
5.- Purchase (if in time) a LE copy of Bioshock
5.1.- If out of stock (Kill everyone and appear on ABC news)
6.- IF I got LE copy - Play with my Big daddy and rush to any police station to be deported ASAP to Mexico and play my copy of Bioshock.

haha wish I had some plasmids to make my journey easier.
    Any way, saludos desde Mexico.
