Who would you like to appear in BioShock 2? (From SitS)

    Just a curious little question.

Mark Meltzer - The main character (of SitS) , looking for his daughter.

Celeste Roget - The former Lutwidge believer / friend (?) of Mark.

Orrin Oscar Lutwidge - The man who may have known Andrew Ryan

Cindy Meltzer - I'd figure she'd be more likely to be in than Mark.

    xD

I also searched the forums to see if there was a poll quite like this...
    didn't find any.

I'd favor seeing Mark and his daughter -- perhaps Mark as a optional mission source and Cindy as the proverbial damsel in distress...

Do they have to be alive? I wouldn't mind just seeing a deceased Mark w/ an audio diary. Cindy tho must live.. i want to save her and have a cutscene where PBD puts out his hand and she grabs it like the video from the first game.

Although I'd love to see all of them in the game, I voted just for Lutwidge.

I don't have any particular attachment (oddly enough) to Mark or Cindy...Mark is an interesting means-to-an-end character, but SitS aside, I can't see myself becoming too attached to him unless there is a major shift in the depth and contrast of his character. Same with Cindy. She's just a girl. Albeit blonde, in a gaggle of brunettes.

Celeste is also intriguing, though Tenenbaum, (who - is - going to appear in the game, and who I already have fallen head-over-heels in love with), satisfies my desire for crafty/manipulative/strong female European characters.

Then there's Lutwidge. So many possibilities. So, cha, go Lutwidge!

well i want to see Celeste.
I would like to protect her :P

and in an interview in either OXM or Xbox World 360 one of the captions said that you would use the video on your helmet camera to connect people that cannot get to eachother
    Cindy and Mark?

This is exactly what I'm going through too. I can't decide between OOL and mark.

They're both such awesome characters. O.O.L with his twisted tricks and traps, Mark, with his desparation, you sit there cheering on his every sucess and boo everyone who trys to sabotauge or stop him. I still can't decide.

I think they're all a given with the possible exception of Celeste, who probably won't risk another wild goose chase after the one Lutwidge already sent here on.

Am I the only one who thinks Lutwidge would be a good candidate for a boss fight? He was obviously a big part of Rapture, and perhaps still is. Could be working under the service of the Big Sister. On the other hand, maybe the Big Sister has him captive for some purpose, and it turns out you rescue him. Oh, the possibilities...

As for Mark, I sort of wanna find his corpse. Yes, I AM rooting for this guy, but finding Meltzer's body alongside an audio diary would throw EVERYONE for a loop. They can't all be happy endings, guys.

I voted for Mark and Cindy, i would love to see an ending involving them too. Reminiscent of the good ending in BS1, heart warming and tender with an epic orchestral score.

The fact of the matter is that we are guaranteed at least one surface dweller to make it into Rapture. Lets face it, it the teaser site going to have Mark find rapture and then just sit there twiddling his thumbs? No not a chance. The second he can pinpoint it he's there! No questions askese thred.

OOL is there for sure as well; the teaser site suggests multiple times that he went in search of "true rapture". And he found it alright.

Cindy is also there too because the big sister gave her a nice ride to the bottom of the ocean.

Even thought I voted that i would like to see Celeste there I don't see it happening yet with the evidence that we have been given; we shall see though.

Now considering that those three are there for sure then it would be stupid to not have some part of the story revolve around them. I'm pretty sure we won't be dissapointed and that we shall find Mark, Cindy and OOL in the game. It may even be upto us to reunite father with daughter, or, in true Bioshock duality, kill mark and force Cindy to be a little sister forever (or even just harvest her).

== Wishful Thinking part of this post ==
This is assuming that 2K has not somehow tricked us and we end up actually playing as mark. I still get a sneaking suspicion that the Prototype Big Daddy is Mark; even though that does not make sense on the surface...maybe prototype is meant in another way.

I just find it so difficult to believe that anyone could survive in Rapture post-Fall for ten years without becoming either very crazy or very dead. I'm not saying it's impossible; I'm also not saying that 2k won't put it in, but yeah, I would regard it as highly improbable. He might be there, but not in any form like he used to be.

I find Lutwidge to be such an uninspiring character. He's just a boy with a toy. At least Ryan and Fontaine built AWESOME DANGEROUS TOYS.

I vote Mark, so I can beat him over the head with my iced-up wrench - I have zero sympathy for the man.

    OH, SNAP!

Agree with you, I've expressed the same opinion a few times to not very favourable reception but I do believe the proto- part of proto-BD is a somewhat of a large red herring.

Re: Lutwidge in Rapture - one Question that struck me is if Lutwidge has access to all the resources that are/were in Rapture after the demise of Ryan/Fontaine, does he have or require the personnel to assist him ? i.e. has he taken any of his cronies down with him if he is in Rapture, i.e. the missing then found crewless Vulmea ship and/or has be press ganged any other missing boat crews into working for him, or even possibly conscripted non-splied sane citizen's left in Rapture to do his bidding ?

It might even be possible that Lutwidge having reached Rapture could act as 'saviour' figure for what remains of the non-spliced populace of Rapture, or some of them, who don't themselves have the brains or means to better their existence/escape Rapture ?

Maybe with the assistance of the BS, voluntarily given or coerced or even blackmailed, he could have a ready made slave force available for him in the non-spliced citizens of Rapture with the BS and possibly any cronies he took with him acting as the 'heavies'.

Re: the BS in that paragraph - it assumes for the voluntary or coerced part that Lutwidge has or can provide something that the BS can use, i.e. returning Rapture somewhat back to the way she remembers it, I don't suppose it would be possible to blackmail the BS, but that could itself serve as a powerful plotline, freeing the BS from the leash of Lutwidge ?

Overall I do believe that Lutwidge is a suitable 'genius' figure to take the place of Ryan/Fontaine in Rapture, but to what ends he uses/twists the science in Rapture too is anyone's guess and will in itself be a rewarding and interesting experience to face in BS2

Man, you give so much more credit to Lutwidge than I do. I think the man is a massive nancy-boy loser. And totally not a genius in the same way that Ryan and Fontaine were. They were a pair of crazy, power-hungry LADS. He might be clever, but Lutwidge is just a lackey following in the footsteps of greater men.

And if he's such an awesome kind of guy in Rapture, why is there ZERO mention of him in BS1? I refuse to believe that Lutwidge is any sort of (anti)hero figure. He took a wrench to the back of the neck in 1960 from one of those Bible-bashing splicers.

    'nough said, eh...

Meow .... incidentally I've just posted this thread/theory http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43688 which would in the absence of Ryan/Fontaine give Lutwidge the opportunity to step into the power vacuum that Jack created and left.

    Mark all the way baby!

If Mark is actually a major player in the game, Cindy will have to be as well.

Think we'd see some Lutwidge too.

honestly if we had to choose only one it would actually be Cindy. Just because that is why what we are searching for anyways! I would like to see all though, they all provide very cool story/gameplay possibilities.

I actually think that OOL is controlling the big sister so that he can restore Rapture and he can be the leader but thats just my opinion

oh and i want to see OOL
but a nice cameo appearence with Mark when you are walking around with a random little sister that happens to be cindy would be pretty cool. I could see meltzer threatening to kill you and you have to make a choice to kill meltzer or give up cindy and get no Adam from her

If I could only pick one, probably Cindy (who seems to have a pretty high chance of appearing in one whole piece and alive). I'd protect her even if it meant losing my weapons, adam and money.
I'd also like Mark to appear (but we can only pick one ) alive and well too. That way if we find the Meltzer duo, we will be able to reunite them. Then protect them till they get back to the surface.

I remember you get to make hard choices, so maby one of them is deciding who to save at one point, Meltzer, or Cindy. Like maybe there going to get crushed by a falling pillar and you can only grab and save one...? I'd pick Cindy

Maybe Cindy is another Big Sister. They never said there was only one.

Mark is in the proto-BD suit, and Cindy's the BS!

Well cindy is like around 10, (I forget the real age) and the BS is like 30 something I would guess. Maybe she's could be an apprentice, but I doubt it...

Unless someone exposed her to a rapid growth Lot (just like Jack), I don't think Cindy can be a Big Sister. Since she'll only be around 9 years old (assuming the game starts in 1970), she probably won't be old enough to be a Big Sister.
I think I also prefer it if there was only one Big Sister. It gives me the impression that her power is unrivaled and makes her look/feel more unique to us.

Assuming the average age of all LS in the first game were around 7 years old. The Big Sister will only be around 17 years old in the second game.

Agreed. It would cheapen the effect of the Big Sister to have more than one.

Tenebaum *with an irish accent*: "My name is Tenenbaum, and i aim to keep you alive boyo"
hows that for a Halo-like plot twist, referring to the series not seeming to be very creative in the plot
