GG man!
well done my pet well done.
best game i have ever seen you play, i do have excuses but we dont wanna hear em! first time i have played a long game witcha. gota say my wife was not happy
My Romans v. The French. Picked up two friendlies, settled two tiles from Aztecs. Rushed warrior to hill but next turn their warrior retreated to their cap. Decided not to risk it so I rushed two more and took them out with a WA. First barb shows me the KT and nets me a caravan which finds a Spanish caravan—awesome.
I walk by a sweet oxen spot on the way in so I go for HBR. Rush my first horse and take out a French warrior. Send my 100g settler to the oxen spot and rush a galley to pick up the KT and try for the Spanish. Send my WA back to the hill by my cap.
Looking like a great start... feeling really good.
Rush another horse in Tenoch when he flips it. GAH! I quickly move my WA to retake Tenoch, but before I do, I see my new horsie skip on over and take Rome. Just like that, everything disappears.
Man, that was awesome. Sometimes this game is all about timing.
Did you not still have your 100g city to hammer more horses and protect them with the KT? You could of put a warrior on the hill as bait for your WA to kill his horse/ha and worried about Tecno later.
Hadn't quite settled my 100g yet... that's why I disappeared.
Brent flash is back, sitting at #99 with Aztec 7-0. Watch out.
Ha ha yes it hasn't gone unnoticed that it is indeed an anagram of I am Slutty (which to be fair isn't too wide of the mark!)
But if you really want to know my full name is Liam Sutcliffe and all my friends call me by my nickname (Sutty). I've just always used LiamSutty or some variation of it for gaming.
Seriously DENIED, how hard is it just to send a GG?
You didn't get 'raped' there were 3 even and close to even battles, I lost the first, then you lost two, thats just chances, not getting screwed.
Anyway, if you are in on the 'american rank experiment' you're out.
I didn't take the points because I dont know if you are ranking up and I dont think it's fair to hit you for 30 on an account that I experiment with, but take it like a man or next time my mongols beat your america i'll think twice before leaving when you have nothing but an empty cap left![]()
I'll just restart again, just started playing yesterdaywanted to see how long I could go without losing, but you put a quick end to that. How was that a good game? There can only be a good game if it goes past 20 turns. BTW did you get a naming tile to? Next time take the win, don't try to hold it over my head cause I won't do the same for you.
No, just a hut.
Ok, agreed, not a particularly great game. But still.
[QUOTE=ITZ DENI3D; .....wanted to see how long I could go without losing..... [/QUOTE]
That must be why you immediately jumped out of the H2H ranked match this morning when you saw my gamertag waiting to challenge you.![]()
Ha, glenneyre- you smashed me 3-0 the other day
I've been having a lot of fun again in ranked with the mongols on second account. At least 6 or 7 disconnects but its cool when you don't care about the points. A few great games (mismatched) but fun, a few shockers too vs Zulu - close starts that I would be raging at on my flash account.
Anyway, played a great one vs spain, tough start where I only got 3 barb towns, eventually took aztects and started expanding but couldn't find spain. I catch up in tech around 14 and get cruisers first, find spain has covered 2 big islands and go on the attack with knights. He gb'd oxford for flight and killed off my attack, I had industrial so gs'd combustion, I eventually lost 4 vet cruiser fleets just against the odds trying to get my tanks to his island and gave up. Should have tried eco.
Just had a great Mongol v Mongol game with REM.
I though I had kinda messed it up at the start, delaying HBR in order to take London. I saw the borders while walking, but only had 10g and nowhere good to settle, so moved on 4 spaces thinking I could get them at 3100 but they walked toward me and I lost my first warrior against them in the field. So I slow built an army which thankfully got me 3 pop London and monarchy, from there I had lots of good luck.
Get my first HA out and get Feudalism from a hut, had just met REM to my south so built a knight army then went for irrigation after growing 3 barbs and 7 cities total I think.
Now im not sure expepsive knights are the correct play that early, REM, smart as ever killed off my first army but not before I took out one his barb towns getting nav (he got madrid). Anyway, REM stayed at 4 tech while I think I was 8 with irrigation, but all my cities were pretty good with production. I dont think a turn went past without a fight somewhere, but to be honest, he had me under pressure at my own karakorum for most of the game after flipping the barb city (or was it a galleon drop?) Directly next to it. I eventually take it back but then he flips it again (SOC) with my vet KA in it! So I had to kill that with another KA. I find 7 cities and get a cannon from templar, the gold let's me get a vet fleet to take the fight to him while the cannon keeps him occupied for a few turns at his own cap.
Once my fleet and knight army are on the move I thinks its just to much for him.
One of those rare great games full of fighting that I love this game for. Thanks REM.
You played it really smart, had the tables been turned, I think I would have crumbled!
Sometimes it is funny how similar starts are. I had a "bad start" like you too. Seeing Madrid early, but not enough gold or trees. I also wanted to walk in past 3500BC, but I bumped into their warrior which took a barb down - no go! So I slow teched HbR and made the army with the barb that was between us. You got London a bunch of turns before I got Spain, but I thought Nav > Monarchy. Unfortunately you had good cities and got Feud from hut. After holding off the first wave I thought I could win since KAs are very expensive and I had the galleon advantage, but then 7cities ruined that plan and I did not notice that you got Nav from my 1 pop barb city.
My last hope was that GA. I galleon dropped your barb city next to Karakorum. After I flipped your vet KA, I hesitated and should have just moved it onto the galleon. Bad move! Then that cannon bothered me at just the right time. In the end I decided to send my vet galleon fleet around the world with my HA, which worked and I took one city, but you cleverly sent our own fleet w/ KA over to my stuff and that was that.
GG Flash.

Played ranked PS3 today. My opponent quit and I got the loss on the leaderboard. Any idea how that happens?
He reconnected right before you left at the victory screen. Seems more probable for a person to re-enter a game after the games finished on ps3 than at all on the xbox.
How does one reconnect after quitting, and is there any way to combat that?
It's easy to reconnect. Person just looks for another game after quitting and sometimes it puts them right back in your game before u leave. The only thing u can do is watch the screen closely for about a minute before leaving game to make sure they don't reconnect. If they do, then DON'T LEAVE GAME UNTIL THEY"VE LEFT AGAIN. U should still try to wait about a minute or so.
How would you know if they've reconnected when you're at the victory screen?
Then again, maybe it's not so simple. I just took a major dive in the Leaderboards for some reason after i got a win. I thought i was watching screen close enough but apparently not. Don't know why else i would drop out of top 30 all the way to over 1100 after getting a win. Really ###### me off.
Just played Unbeatendoja. My Aztecs against his Zulu. We both walk for few turns. I get Washington. He gets Paris. Fortunately, i learned which way he was going to be coming from early. So, i put a unit on a hill to lookout for his arrival. I got HBR from a hut and got a vet HA together within a few turns and sent it to Madrid. I declare war on Spain a few turns before they get BW so they'll stop teching and i'll get Nav instead. Which i do soon afterwards. I'll already know where SoC is so rush a galleon to get it. We both get our 100 gold at same time. Soon after i take Madrid Doja shows up with a vet impi army but retreats after seeing my scout on hill and a few other units. Guess he didn't want to risk losing it and instead put it on a hill a few tiles away as a lookout. I attacked it with my march HA but lost 9-6. Normally, i'd be pissed but i at least had Nav now so wasn't quite so upset. I got 2 GA from SoC. I used 1 to flip a 3-pop dye city. Doja got Steam really early with a GS. At this point, i started to get worried. I was putting together an attack force from my 9 production barracks city. Was afraid by time i got a galleon to where i wanted to go (Paris) he'd have a cruiser waiting there. Fortunately, when i get to Paris there's no naval force for me to worry about. Was teching religion and just before it's completed i drop my attack force on Paris's doorstep. It was a CA and LA with several archers. All vet. Doja just has a single pike in city which i take easily and pick up steam in process. He has an impi army close be but my militia is in his way. So he attacks it and loses 4.5-2.5. So he concedes. GG Doja.
This may not apply in my case, but yesterday when playing a ranked match I had the screen flash and I got a message stating I had disconnected from XBox Live. This happened as I was sending bombers to his cap. It sent me back to the Civ Rev opening menu, but it still showed that I was connected.
If I went to chose a ranked player match at that point, would I have reconnected to the game?
Went for horses yesterday and got aztec'd pretty quickly. So today, I meet Aztecs again and just focus on warriors. Settled next to a hill, got walk in on Rome for CoL. Meet Aztecs and plant a WA on a hill towards his territory. Sure enough, here comes the HA. I attack from hill but lose. Argh. I get my hundred gold, settle the city and keep building warriors. He takes Rome then heads for my cap. He takes it for CoL, but this time my WA gets the job done.
I'm out of gold and he camps my tree with an archer. I'm in trouble. He puts AAs in his two caps. However, after a few turns I realize he just put down his controller. I remember reading that if you attack a dormant player, you'll often get a freeze. Is that true?
So I expand out and decide to go Econ. I think I get to about 10000 gold when he comes back and quits. Yeaaah.
