Got some games in with Scottie a couple of nights ago. It's good to keep him in check and show him who still rocks amongst us old PS3 guys!! ;-)

the noobs were out in force last night. in the 1st, my mongols vs egypt w/collosus, i have no ai near me. i take out 3 barbs and kill his exploring warrior with a WA. a horse takes 2 more barbs far to the south-east and finds the japanese. its about this time the opponent gets in to republic. i send the WA and an archer up to try to camp some deserts, otherwise it will be over soon. i pull up next to thebes and they have an archer on a hill next to it. to my suprise the city is empty. he rushes an archer but i attack and win 4.5-4. he rushes another archer while i choose an upgrade. i can go march and attack immediatly 3-3, or inf and attack next turn 4-4. i choose inf and take the city next turn, getting a gg. he quits. what a waste of an empire. he had 3 deserts, 3 sea tiles, and a market.
in the next game its my english vs salty slade's america. between us is china and arabs. i go for tripoli and lose my WA 4.5-3. i start on horses and have 2 vet HA's almost to athens far away up an S shaped land bridge. america goes into republic, and is up 9-3 in tech. a wandering warrior of mine finally finds some american cities south of dc and flips a 4 pop w/library. he immediatly quits. how weak, in republic he could replace that city with 4 more in a turn or 2. play the game on easy and quit at the 1st sign of trouble. no wonder he's still a noob after playing 100's of times.
Played preyforme last night in ranked and I popped Angkor Wat and didn't get an wonder!! I checked and checked but no just a palace in there. Wasn't happy as I sacrificed an early 60g to get it which made getting 100g real tough and late. Anyone had this happen?
Thinking about it though I played a game as Rome the other day and got Angkor and it gave me 2 wonders! Great wall and HGB. Maybe it was just balancing itself out... Was a waste of HGB anyway jumping to 3 pop when I can 50 hammer it later...
I got no wonder, double wonders, and also loads of times my militia doublesteps into the sea behind the artifact and picks up a spy or a caravan outta nowhere, and then i can still pick up the artifact. I like those the most
The person who is ranked number 2 I think in h2h , it's gametag starts with GG, is another top 10 fraud. He/She tried city collapsing me when I took two of it's cities. How sad.
Pitty it was going to be a good game China vs China. I sent the fraud a text, and he is from mexico on his bio so maybe he doesn't speak english.
I choose china because the first game he one easy and I had a look at leaderboards and he has a chinese symbol, so I thought I would try and take 30 points off him, anyway just beware of this troll. I should just quit but I hate quitting to fracking top ten fake ass frauds.

I started playing again on the Jack0neill account. So im just noob bashing at the moment.
Played Glenneyre england vs enganld. I flipped his 100g city and won the game.
1 game against privatepile78 I think. My Spain vs his Romans.
The game was fun I took 2 of his cities and kept attacking him. I had a GS and it was looking like I was going to win, but I got soft frozen on my end and quit out.
Thats all really no other games are worth mentioning.

you mean the other jack - jackhall - I think. However jackhall may read this also of course. I believe he is playing a lot less now though.

sometimes its all about keeping your head down and waiting for your chance. i start as spain last night against zulu. ai was india, aztec, and russia. i settle 2nd turn with 2 trees and whale. i get out 2 warriors but before i could grab the barb 3 squares away i see a zulu militia. he then takes the barb down and i'm pinned without dollar 1. he stupidly leaves me alon and goes looking for ai. he gets no caps, but does take indias 2nd city. later i find aztecs and russians share an island north of me. i hammer a galleon and settler before going gold to get 100. i can see that he is expanding at a normal clip out of his 3 cities. i finally settle my 100 g settler and get a barracks in madrid. here is where the game turned interesting. i hear he takes the soc, and next turn i spy his galley that speeds away as fast as a galley can. i am going to try to sink it, but he offloads his crew and sells it before i get there. he then does what he thinks is a deathblow, but really it breathes life into my doomed game. he settles a city, settles a gs, and rushes collosus with a gb. its all hands on deck to get a fleet to him before he gets away. i'm still at 3 techs (iw from friendly) and he's gaining 1 per turn. i send a galleon off exploring while i put together 3 LA's and an AA. it finds aw and i switch to communism to expidite matters. if he knew what was happening he would have obsoleted that pyramid asap, but he goes to democracy 1st. i get into fundy and bring my armies to his fancy city. i take it and another, then switch to democracy. all of a sudden i'm doing 90 from that city alone. within about 10 turns i have both gold techs, and a cruiser fleet at his doorstep. if he hadn't built that super city i would have never got back into the game before his knights got to me.
Wow, that was strange. Zulus are all about the early game, and Spain is only going to get stronger if you leave her alone. Nice tactics, dan.
I've run into many zulu players like that. They don't bother with me and they end up paying for it usually.
yea his name is bareback and from what i hear he isn't really that good. as far as i remember he does have the phrase 2nd place in civ rev in his profile which is in english but he's a cheating punk and I won't let his cheating ways take first place.

Haven't read one of these in a long time, but this was great. I used to love making comebacks on players who left openings. Great job Dan, I am sure he was quite upset with that one. Hopefully, he learned a lesson.
I had two really hard H2H games this morning.
First spain against egypt. I settled with just 1 tree and whale. Not usually a problem but I didn't get 1 gold ever. Egypt got moscow and tripoli early. Also ark and school. I slowly built galleon and settlers but I was down 16 techs by the time I settled a few cities. Not looking good, but the other guy just quit? Maybe had something to go and do?
Next was a good one against brighton seagulls aztecs. I got 100 gold quite early but he got KT, so I was a bit too defensive. He also got a walk in on rome for col then took athens for democracy and paris. I stuck to expansion and he was too. Quite behind in tech again. He got the school and flipped one of my whale/3 tree cities, that hurt but I was good for production still. I sent a fleet and catapult armies to start damage and he used scientist for invention then steam. I took paris and another of his cities then sunk a cruiser and he left. I guess he put too much in tech and not enough in trees.
Pretty sure Jack O played on PS3 too? I will be back, just not sure when.

Seriously you don't remember? I think I was randomgab, but not sure. We were both indian and you were NE of the map and east of me. You thought you were on an island but it wasn't the case. It made you build a galley and a WA that killed one of my warrior while you were ''pillaging the coast with your viking galley (with WA in it...). Yeah, but everytime I have free time, I can't convince my game, that the best use of it will be with civ. There is massive protest going on right now here and I try to participate in it. I'm also doing a lot of photo and gardening. There is also big competition with other computer game.
Or I'm still depressed of the beating you and News (? not sure it was him?) gave me and Mario09 in our team games the last time I played

Well, I played a few ranked games.
First I galley drop ai paris and the guy quits.
next I find School in first 12 turns and the guy quits.
One spain v spain gave me fright though. Opponent got 7c and pyramids. I got india. He turned up with a fleet and vet warrior army in fundy. Luckily I done ok for gold myself and was able to buy a road and some legions to kill the threat, but then he quit. I had it under control, but he wasn't to know. He quit far too soon.
Freezers are lower than pond scum. That is all.
Something odd happened in one game today: A 4 flag barb attacked my militia in 3200 BC 0.5 vs. 1 and my militia lost. Weird ...
I don't think there are any guarantees when you're defending against barbs, only when you're attacking.
Took out my opponents cap and noticed that he was gone from the diplo screen. Game was still going so I had to take out all the AI caps for the win. Weird.
I've gotten that couple times before too. Was like game morphed into a player match.
Sometimes they can be helpful though. I saw a resync when my son was playing where he had 16/20 on Alphabet & was doing 4 tech/turn. It resynced. He thought he was done w/Alphabet but alas he still had 16/20. He was upset & finished it. However, the next turn, he chose writing & saw he had 20/40 already. So apparently, the resync had caused the 20 that should have finished Alphabet to be transferred to Writing. So the net result was a gain of 2 turns (he bumped up his tech/turn to 10/turn). Not bad at all!
So resyncs are random events that can hurt or can help although I'd say they usually hurt more than help but in I'm wondering if we are unaware of when they help because our negative bias. In the above example, he was upset initially until I pointed out the fact that he already had 20/40 on Writing. So I'm wondering if that doesn't happen in many cases & we are simply unaware because we are upset & don't notice.

Tell your son it was a pleasure to play with him. I got to learn a lot by watching him play. I personally think we were the best team(along with Duke and me and your son and Duke) to play.
