    Favorite Weapon (And Plasmid)?

Well, I was originaly going to make this into two separate threads, or let someone else make the second one about plasmids, but why would I let anyone else have the fun? So, basicaly what will be your most trusted weapon in the game. (Also plasmids)

I will probably use the Tommy Gun (because it is awesome)
I'm not really sure about what kind of modifications the weapons will have, I would think it would be cool to have a silencer, or a flash hider or something (as unrealistic as that maybe, but hey, I'm resourceful)

As far as plasmids go, two words, Bee Arm. That was the coolest part of that trailer (which is done EXTREMELY well done).

If I were going to use a melee weapon I would use a wooden baseball bat with a nail through it!

My good ole boomstick and some various "-kinesis" plasmids (telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and cryokinesis)

Favorite weapon is the Tommy gun, and my favorite plasmid is....all of them.

Honestly haven't got a favorite, I like them all

Too soon to say, but I generally like silenced pistols for 'surgical strikes'.

Shotguns are sometimes fun, if there's enough ammo.

Micro-uzi, if fired one shot at a time, with controlled bursts if absolutely essential.

Favourite palsmid— probably the one that lets me interact with the Big Daddies and Little Sisters.

    Weapons:
Flamethrower – along with using various chemical elements, could prove interesting to witness different combinations and their result on the enemies

Crossbow – as long as it’s more versatile than the HL2 version

Catapult Mine – booby traps are a favorite gimmick of mine. Should make for flexible ways to take down Big Daddy’s when combine with other plasmid effects.

    Plasmids
Chameleon Blood – hoping for a Predator-like effect, with shimmering reflections while in motion

Iron Gut – could offer up some interesting combinations with other plasmids

Pyrokinesis – we all remember the awesomeness of the flaming teddy bear

Iceball – We can smash splicers to pieces ala the T1000. Hasta la vista, baby!

Hornet Arm – Visually the most impressive plasmid to date. Could make for some comically panicked enemies

No sound is as satisfying as the "BOOM-click-click" sound of a shotgun if done right. The flamethrower looks awesome too.

Favourite plasmid? All the ones for making enemies kill eachother.

The sound of the re-loading gun in Alien Breed (that was something else!)

    I forgot Chameleon blood

How about the 'instantly configure it just like Hitman' plasmid
(I know, it's not going to be like that )

it modifies your appearance so you can camoflauge better into your surroundings. eg: makes you dark when you are hiding in a dark area, so that little light reflects off your skin (someone back me up on this?).

As far as I know that's it. Also— I think I heard a rumour that it only works while you're standing still.

I love well designed pistols, esp. ones I can upgrade because I'm a good shot and as long as Bioshock has body specific damage some heads are gonna be rolling for real.

After playing so many survival horror games I always kill enemies by their lowest common denominator if that even remotely makes sense. If it can be killed by my weakest weapon then I will use it to conserve ammo of stronger weapons for stronger enemies or back against the wall type situations. Usually by the end of resident evil games I have all magnum rounds, grenade rounds of various types, and a fully stocked up and loaded medium powered weapon (automatic rifle of shotgun), and end up beating them with tons of crap left over. Its like the boy scout motto, "Always be prepared."

And as a sidenote, I'm interested to see how you can use plasmids, does that use adam or is there some sort of mana/magic/plasmid power gauge that refills slowly or with pick-ups? That will probally help determine how much I use those powers too, but I'm partial to telekenisis for now because it looks to be able to yield some unique defensive properties as well as being in combinations for some devistating offensive attacks.

It costs Adam to equip the Plasmids, but it costs Eve when you use them

Too right man, the marathon dual shotties were a treat for the ears.

On topic: I have to say I like the look of Tommy Gun

But to be honest i'm more of a plasmid man (ala psi powers SS2) so i'd have to go with the telekenisis, cause when you can teddy-bear an enemy to death, you just know your gonna have fun.

How do you acquire Eve, or is it like a Mana pool that regularly regenerates itself, albeit slowly?

From the preview vid and some screenshots I think it's gonna be a syringe, much like psi hypos from SS2.

Yeah, you can see it in the GameStar video on youtube, search for "gamestar bioshock" there, it should be the first one. I won't link to it because it's there against GameStar's wishes.

in the Demo #1 in the bathroom a bottle of EVE HYPO is on the ground... you see it for just a second, but that is indeed what it says

Thanks for answering guys It sounds like Eve is equivalent to Psi from SS2, and Adam is acquired by means of the Little Sisters. Was it confirmed that Adam can be obtained ONLY via Little Sisters?

I hope not, because that would mean the only way of obtaining adam would most likely be the termination of the little sisters. Which would force the player, rather than making it hard to find, which would make it the players choice.

  22. #22
nah, killing Little Sisters is only one way, helping them nets you some Adam, you can find Adam on dead bodies and in containers, and it will most likely be given out as rewards for quests similar to cybermods in System Shock 2

Sounds like they are modelled after cybermods from SS2, difference being they are used as an activation cost for the plasmids rather than a statistical upgrade gimmick.

How much Adam is required for activating a plasmid, meaning is it a large pool that a single plasmid will take a little bit away from, or will using a plasmid deplete the Adam reserve greatly?

Could the amount of Adam being used to activate plasmids be dependant on the difficulty level chosen?

Is there a player stat that reduces Adam consumption, or even a plasmid itself that used in conjunction with others reduces Adam cost (similar to the Power Recirculator of Deus Ex)?

As I thought. Not that I wouldn't kill the little sisters myself, but it's not very fair on the goody two shoes players.

i think one of the things they're trying to do here is "starve" your resources, so you're going to be using whatever weapons they're giving you ammo for...so you'll get to use em all. Sounds like fun to me...

Hmm, not in the context of flexibility. If Adam is globally a very limited resource, then you're essentially removing any chance of a "plasmizard" style of playing through the game. Maybe that is where the Shooter 2.0 philosophy comes in, and we will not have as much versatility as in SS2, but more than most shooters.

Still, if resources are to be starved, which I agree they should, all of them should be equally dimished (ammo, Adam, Eve hypo's, gun variety), or perhaps their amounts contextually determined. That lets the player decide on the approach taken when they step up to the PLASMI-QUIK* station.

...and how could you live with calling it Gene Bank It sounds like that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer has to keep his blood cool cuz the Blood Bank refused him. I don't want to be rolling around Rapture in a beat-up car carrying my genes in tupperware.

It's my understanding that the little sisters extract adam from human blood by ingesting it. I'm not sure how eve is created.

but...in one of the demos (i think it was the one where the Creator did a commentary walkthrough) there was adam in a cash register =s

if you can only get adam from little sisters...then that pretty much just kills the morality of it because you then HAVE to kill her. are you sure you dont have to just look around for it?

favorite weapon will be the shotgun i shall create...with acid...AND a scope. and a chainsaw at the front. the ultimate short-range weapon.

little sisters are the only source of adam, since you're not big into spoilers I'd suggest editing your post right there, or else someone besides me is going to see this, not remember that you're a spoiler freak, and answer your question which can only be answered with various spoilers.

But yes, Little sisters are the only source of Adam, no, the "choice" is not destroyed and the moral options are still very prevalent.

Even though we have been given sound reasoning behind LS's being the only source of Adam, I still have major doubts about the gameplays balance if they are the only source. Even though they are a major part of the game, I don't want to have Bioshock turn into a gimmicky "how do I deal with the next little munchkin" linear experience, essentially turning LS's into quasi checkpoints.

Well, I doubt LS are the 'Only' way to get Adam. At least, I hope not the only way. It seems like you should be able to find some along the way as well. Medical Wing, I imagine, would have a bunch...

Um, as for weapons and plasmids...

Wrench + cold. I'll probably play through it using whatever the first time, BUT will want to try just using the wrench at some point in time. Just for fun.

    Peace,
    Cor
