    Bioshock 2 Gameplay Music - Enjoy ;)

Hey everyone, I'm an instant massive fan of Bioshock, everything about this game is just absaloutly perfect, the mechanics, graphical style, the time in space setting...everything right down to the last detail is absaloutly 100% perfect! Anyway, I came along a really nice tune which was used in the gameplay video for BioShock 2, unfortunatly it was too short for me and only seemed like part of a full piece of music so I managed to grab the tune from the video and I tweeked with it a little to make it seem more of a full piece, non of the background sound effects such as miss Dr. speaking or the flash light and shreaking water effects are repeated atall, I hope somebody will appreciate this, I'm not fantstic with audio engineering programs.

That was very nice, it had a slow peaceful feel to it, it would fit well into different situations.

Yeah! I love this music, I saw some of the comments on youtube about the piece, they were saying this piece was "gay" etc... some people just cannot appreciate real art, if it ain't mainstream they won't have anything to do with it :S

I'd like to know what exactly this music is called and who wrote it, I've heared that it's a remake of the song SleepWalk by Santo & Johnny but I prefare this one 2K can you give me some details on this please?

Note: I've spent quite a while learning all the notes for each instrument on this piece so I can cover it, I hope I won't get into any trouble for playing this at a gig some time

Nevermind, I just checked to see if other people do it without getting punished. And yes, it is allowed.
Sorry for the misunderstanding and rash action on my part.

I haven't finished downloading the file yet (I hate Rapidsource), but are you guys by chance talking about Dream, by the Pied Pipers?

EDIT: You're not, but I think might know what this is... I'll try and find the name.

Anyone figure this out yet? I think quite a few of us would love to know the real name of this piece of music.

    Hey hey hey!!!!!

look where you link take me:

Yeah I'm curious to hear it as well, and if the music is going to be written by Gary Schyman this time around, then I'm sure it's going to be as memorable and brilliant as the first installment!

Very interesting, I assumed this was just Sleepwalk by Johnny and Santo when watching this video but you are correct, it is a different version. I am not sure if this is from the game or somethign that a gamespot editor just put there.

O.o That's not that much of the upcoming score. Garry sent me some of the other songs that were being considered for BS2 before they were actually bought (so he gave them to me before it would have been illegal to do so), and they were really good. I think you'll all be pleased with the upcoming music. (no I will not share them with you seeing as how it'd be illegal if i did)

You are saying that Garry has told you some of the licensed music that they are using for Bioshock 2 or he has let you listen to some of the music he has composed?

I've been friends with him on MySpace since I found out who he was =P and we chat every so often about music. I ask him to listen to my composition sometimes, and he's nice enough to actually listen to them and tell me what he thinks.

I have one better. The OP said that he's uploaded this to YouTube (he said people commented on it calling it gay). Can you please link us to the YouTube video you made instead of this useless rapidshare crap?

Since it won't let you guys download, here is what the song covers:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJZYU...FQJ-xgodIT9SdA

It is covered more gently and relaxed in the BioShock 2 version (They are really similar though). It contains a snippet of what sounds like radio dialogue (maybe Tenenbaum). It also has some chatter type noise in another part. I think the song is really nice and my mom walked by and was like, "What song is that? It is really relaxing and hypnotic."

Gives me a tropical island feel. Can't stop listening to it.

I listen to a lot of older music, so my mom is always commenting when it's playing how I have such great taste and it really takes her back to when she was a kid.

Ever since BioShock, I play the old stuff (I always love scores, for many movies and some games including BioShock, but BioShock has my fav liscensed soundtrack) and she loved hearing Beyond the Sea.

I remember hearing this covered by Brian Setzer about a decade ago. Great song.

If anyone's looking for more music that's thematically similar to the licensed songs of Bioshock, I'd look at what Fallout 3 has. Lots of the same artists and the same decades covered as well.

So the two licensed songs we know of are Dream and Sleep Walk. Perhaps a theme emerging? Proto Big Daddy undoubtedly had a lot of sleeping to do...

Yeah that is a good recommendation. Fallout 3 is inspired by a 50's interpretation of the future. So soundtrack reflects the roots.

That might just be a pretty big theme in this one, which sounds cool, but I don't know how much it will rank alongside the theme of man/slave.

Also, great call with Fallout 3. Hoping to try it out some time ^_^

Of course, it's obvious that all the events of Bioshock 2 will be a dream from the mind of the PBD. Then in the third game we'll actually PLAY as the prototype. The true reason all the songs have to do with dreams.

On topic, I'd find it surprising if songs changed at all. Obviously they will, but how? Just because the big sister is back the splicers are receiving new music?

We'll be exploring new areas of rapture. Probably the music is different in different places. Or are there still sane people in rapture? I think there are. They would probably get sick of hearing the same music a lot and would have found a way to change it.

Are you just joking around? or is this for real?
If you're being serious, I'd like to know how you knew BS2 would be a dream in the eyes/mind of the PBD. And where did you hear we'll be playing as the PBD in BS3. Just making sure, because it's not always easy to detect if someone is joking or not (especially on a serious forum like this one).

Maybe some songwriters and musicians survived? And then they wrote their own songs and recorded them (before and after the fall of Rapture)? Or there might have been a few people who horded a huge collection of records (before Rapture fell) and you can select them from a shelf and play them one by one.

Ooh, sounds fun. Maybe along with Audio-Diaries we can collect records? That could be cool. I'd imagine that if we listened to piece that the musicians of Rapture wrote since the fall, the music would be very depressing and angry.

I remember my favorite music moment from the game, fending off Security Bots and Splicers in Olympus Heights to Perry Como's "Papa Loves Mambo!"

We'd better still have party songs ^_^

Lol I used to love that song. Things didn't seem so gloomy whenever that song came on. I hope we have party songs in BS2 too, it would make the despair in Rapture much more bearable.

Heh, sorry Ureh, total joke. It is quite difficult to read emotions through text and words, I apologize. Something as huge as that wouldn't be known to just one or a few people.

Probably should have put a little smiley or something. In fact, I shall!

Hey guys, just for the record I never said I uploaded this piece of music on youtube, I basically ripped the video, took the audio, tweeked with the piece a little turning the unloopable tune from the gameplay trailer intoa piece you could listen to on your ipod or something

I did this all in good cause, the reason why I'm using rapidshare is so that you guys can have the actual mp3 file rather then listening to youtube...

    http://rapidshare.com/files/26480736...Music.mp3.html

I'll upload the piece to youtube though dont worrie, then you can have it all you like if the rapidshare file does run out.

UPDATE: here you go everyone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0a1z5H-H6bs

Hey, thanks man. I've already got it via rapid share, but it's really considerate to put this up too. You did a great job with the audio, by the way.

I am still of the opinion that this is not necessarily a song on the Bioshock 2 soundtrack, and may be something added by a Gamespot editor. The original song came out in 1959 which is late for a Bioshock song, considering all of the music is supposed to be records that people brought with them.

Hey thanks man, I did my best to make sure non of the looped parts were noticable, I think this piece came out great considering I used free software 'Audacity + lame plug-in'
