3rd times the charm, I guess

Ok, so I am slowly but surely going through Bioshock on survivor mode, Just yesterday I went through Fort Frolic, one of the best levels. And was fighting off Cohens splicers, this is what happened:

Round 1: Killed them all, but the last one could not be found, looked everywhere for it too, but it wasnt that big of a deal, I had saved right before the fight, so loaded it.

Round 2: This time I killed all of them, and cohen starts talking, I walk over and place the picture, as I already had it, and he comes down aplauding and stuff. Now I plan on going back to poseidon plaza and geting the weapon upgrade station thats there, I go upstairs start to pass the gatherers garden and.. uh oh, a red lighted big daddy comes tearing through, I actually stood frozen in shock for a secound, as he came towards me I naturally tried to take some pics, as I had for every Bouncer I had seen, and guess what, It let me, meaning that I had never seen this big daddy before. Strange, So now I run for my life, not prepared at all for a big daddy survivor battle, I have no Gernade launcher ammo, and few exploding buck, I think I'm screwed, and sure enough, after about 2 minutes of running and desperately trying to save my life, I die, and must reload my last save.

Round 3: Now, expecting the worse, I kill the splicers, and prepare for a battle with the upcoming big daddy... which never comes... So I go on and do all the stuff that I had planned and leave Fort Frolic.

    This happen to anyone else?

That's strange. If it was a completely unprovoked attack of course. But the same things never happen twice if you reload the game.
And it could also be that you left a few traps (prox mines, trap bolts) out and didn't remember?

Maybe the big daddy got mad at you because you left a proximity mine, cyclone trap, or trap bolt somewhere and it damaged him.

When I did this on survivor I could not beat it at first. Then I went up onto the balcony and I found a little corner where I was walled in on all sides except for right in front of me. I turned invisible and when the splicers were looking for me they always appeared one at a time. So one would come out of a door in front of me and just stand there for a second and I would shoot them in the face with a crossbow. I always had enough time to turn invisible again before the next one came. Then, when I had a pile of splicer corpses in front of me the last one never came so I had to go looking for him. I found him.

It's actually faster if you do what RTM did. You can finish off all the splicers in less than 5 minutes that way and you'll end up only using 2 to 3 first aids. This way, all the splicers will know where you are and come running to you. But if you remain hidden, then there will usually be 1 splicer that'll get "lost"... however, you can usually find him/her in a few seconds.

It could also be that you left a trap out but it was his LS that touched it (even though she can't feel it). In which case, he will come after you.

In my way you don't lose any health. You lose most of your crossbow ammo, but I never use it anyway so I didn't mind.

Survivor mode was brutal for me, in this case although not the bravest method as soon as Cohen started getting angry, I ran around the corner where the security camera is (that I already hacked) and stood still.

I had Natural Camouflage on so I vanished and just hid in the corner, the splicers came in sets of 2-3 or three and the camera caught them all while I hid in the corner waiting. I never encountered any un-expected angry Big Daddies so my guess is you ticked one off on accident somehow.

I guess some people prefer more subtle methods.
Although I'm not sure if any of them are fast. And there is no point in holding onto 2 or 3 first aids. You'll get them all back for free if you know where some "hidden" first aids are and loot everything.

yea im quite impatient and finding first aid kits isnt a prob but hypos are another story. It was quite the battle for sure, and I dont think I left any traps.

Cyclone Traps ignore Big Daddies. They just walk right through them, I think they shake a little, but the Cyclone Trap doesn't even go off.

The idea of a LS touching a Trap Bolt causing a pissed off Big Daddy gave me a thought...
little sisters can activate them, but I had already saved all of them in the level, earlier in the level, I saw a big daddy walk to the vent and thought- AH HA! I HAVE YOU NOW!! And went down that way to the eve's garden, hacked the turrets, and then placed some trap bolts, I got distracted somehow, and the little sister and big daddy started to walk past, And I thought, They'll Get away, hurry! So I aimed and then, WAM! A splicer hit me from behind, (houdini if you were wondering) I turn then hear the little sister yell, GET HIM! I turn back around and she walked through like half of the trap bolts I had laid. It was quite the fight, my little brother watched me the whole time, wish I could have recorded it.

Well, the thought I had was to post a ragdolling Little Sister event I had once in the oddities thread, but that works, too.

Wait, so the BD fight you were talking about in the first post is different from the one you're talking about in this one right? And I wonder why the LS was walking ahead of the BD? usually he's the one that charges first.

    1: Yes, different Big Daddy.
2: Little Sisters, usually, lead their Big Daddies. It actually makes more sense, that way. If he was in front of her, he could turn around to find her completely missing.

But why did she walk through half of the trap bolts? Doesn't it take only one and she'll be like, "Get him, Mr. B! ANNNND GET HIM!" Kinda wierd though... how a houdini splicer and bd can sneak up on someone. They're both really noisy and easy to spot.
