Thread: No motion-blur?

  1. #1

    Exclamation No motion-blur?

I was looking through the options, is motion blur not enabled in the 360 nor the PC version?

It doesn't seem as though there is any motion blur. Sorry.

Motion blur in most games is pretty unrealistic anyway. Real-life motion blur is very subtle and it doesn't look like the aftermath of a half-dozen beers and some strobe lighting.

From what I've seen and played it's perfectly fine without motion blur.

Motion Blur would just ruin this game, look at San Andreas for PS2, WOW it was horrible!

    Ah alright.

The PS2 couldn't do motion blur.

Good motion blur is a great addition, and adds to the realism of games, just go watch some Project-Offset videos.

I hated motion blur on San Andreas, on Dead or Alive 4 it was good though. I still think this game is perfectly fine without motion blur.

PS2 couldnt!? i thought it could, because San andreas had all these lines with lights, and it was just bad....

Vice City on PS2 had motion blur (not played San Andreas) and it looked great at night - the car lights and neon signs would create cool looking trails. During the day it looked a bit rubbish though, but you could switch it off. No motion blur on the PC version though.

No need for motion blur in Bioshock - as it's a first person shooter I think it would look a little odd, and with all the colouful lighting would probably create obtrusive light trails. Gears of War is third person and fairly... grey so motion blur somehow looks natural - plus it only kicks on when you swing the camera around at full speed.

i agree, vice city did look good with it but San Andreas just tried to hars, and Bioshock would look bad with it

If you think the PS2 had motion-blur, you apparently don't know much about motion-blur.

Well an effect similar to motion blur then. I don't care how they did it, a few games had motion blur like effects.

Go here, watch and see good motion blur.

As far as I've seen, the only good usage of motion blur in a current game, was the "Low" setting in Lost Planet.

    Or Gears of War.

First person shooters don't really require motion blur for any means of realism, and it too often causes motion sickness.

If it's in motion and it's blurry it's motion blur. The PS2 just did it in a crude way using the entire screen rather than the edges of the screen like Gears of War.

And Project-Offset. Great technology, boring looking game. Get them to license the tech to Irrational/2K and we might see something interesting, instead of a blue troll being shot through the head with a crossbow bolt.

Motion Blur - what for ?
This is not a racing game, besides here are so many more different, better effects than Motion Blur so who cares.

Go watch 3d animated movies with and without motion blur, and you'll know why.

This is also why 2d animators (like old Disney movies) did their frames on the even, whereas WB and some other studios did their frames on odd numbers, more spreadout, etc. therefore it was harder on the eyes to watch the animated movie.

Same thing in games, Lost Planet, even when it's in 30-40fps looks about as smooth as other games at 60+fps that don't have motion blur.

lost planet was a good example, but it wouldnt fit into Bioshock with all the action taking place, it would just get you sick

Yeah but Bioshock looks great at the way it is now so it's ok for me.
