Game will not start

I have installed bioshock multiple times. Each time it ends with the game using the auto update feature. However, afterwards when i click on the .exe file or try using the autoplay feature on the disk..I see the starting bioshock logo, and then the game crashes. How do I fix this? I meet all of the system requirements that are stated inside of the manual.
