PCGamer AND GamePro Magazine News! (Might contain Spoilers!!!)

Ok so I went downtown and found them both! Anyways here it is!

    PCGamer Magazine:

    This is on the multiplayer:

-Set a full year before the first Bioshock during the civil war that devestated rapture.

    -10 multiplayer maps

-Quoted from PCG: "Congratulations, citizen of rapture! You've been approved to join the Sinclair Solutions team as a product tester! We'd like to invite you to test our home defense product in the field and tell us how you feel! With your continued effort, you'll soon earn access to the exclusive Bronze Club benefits! So get out there and start earning those rewards!"

-Starts you off in YOUR apartment(Person you play) The above sinclair thing plays on the radio and you are introduced to your starter pack consisting of a Pistol, A shotgun, and three basic plasmids, Fire, ice and electricity.

-Your apartment is like your menu, You can check leaderboards, coustomize your character, etc.

-You can chose to go through the narative which explains your role in rapture and in the war or skip it and go straight into matches.

-(Awesome way to start a match) You enter your own personal bathysphere and pull the lever and the match begins.

-In every match you accumulate Adam based on your preformance- Kills, assists, hacks,Becoming a big daddy, killing a big daddy, and a whole bunch of unrevealed stats. With enough adam you rank up. When you rank up you recieve a new upgraded pack of weapons, tonics and plasmids and Sinclair Solutions(SS for short my hand hurts) send you another audio tape that advances the story.

-Matchmaking puts you with other players at your level.

-All modes support up to 10 people.

-Elemental plasmids can be CHARGED for an extra kick.

-Apparently you can use the Circus Of Values in multiplayer matches.(Only for EVE from what I can gather)

-There are points in the map that contain turrets, rocket launchers, etc that you can hack.(No minigame just a time bar)

-Each of the 8 playable characters have their own melee weapon. Same damage for all though.

-You can become a big daddy via a power-up(Finding a suit and putting it on) in the level. Full access to rivet gun and of course the increased strength.

-You can switch weapons and plasmids durring loadouts while you wait to respawn.

-New plasmid (EXCLUSIVE TO MULTIPLAYER) Aero Dash which is basically super speed.

-Lots of points for killing a BD.

-They reveal 3 out of 10 playable maps which are: Kashmir Restaurant, Mercury Suites, and Point Prometheus.

-Another new plasmid: Geyser Trap. a prototype of the original cyclone trap its basicly a gush of water from the ground which you can use as a jump pad or like the usually slamming dudes into the ceiling.

-You have 3 swappable loadouts. Per loadout you have 2 weapons, 2 Plasmids and 3 Gene tonics.

-Each weapon has 3 possible upgrades. i.e the Shotgun can be customized to have either Wider range, Longer Distance or Bigger clip.

-They have a few pictures of multiplayer in action

    OK FOR GAMEPRO:

-Dear GOD the picture of the prototype BD we play is absolutely STUNNING!! I take back EVERYTHING I said about it not looking super awesome!!

-Apparently, Cyclone Trap is Hmmm how to say it.. the tramp of the plasmids. It interracts with ALL other plasmids.(Tornado of bees fun!)

-The maxed out drill turns the tip into diamond for carving up baddies in armor ALSO hinting to splicers with armor and tougher BDs. The maxed Rivet Gun can shot super heated rivets that set enemies on fire.

-Telekinesis + Rotating Drill = Awesomeness!

    -Exploding Rivets

-You(Prototype BD) Actually slept through the events of Bio1

    -Playable Flashbacks.

-(Rumor Only!!!!!1111: Bioshock 3 MAY revisit Rapture.)

-Dark secrets about Tenenbaum, Andrew Ryan, Big Sis and "worse" of all You.

-DLC for BS2 is hinted to.

-Your character starts off normal and starts to mutate the more you splice.

-Hmm I dont know if it's a spoiler or not but You're basically trying to restore your memory of who you are and what your place was in rapture as you explore its halls.

-The prototype BD suit looks wwaaayy more muscular and lean than I was expecting.

((The above is just the bare bones of the articles. Basically the main points of the magazines.
Below is the more detailed articles in their full magazine context submitted by MegaScience))

They said that becoming the BD works LIKE a power-up. If you find the suit, you put it on and become the BD.

Loving the playable flashbacks: Will be very immersive and interesting to see Rapture in it's full glory then zoning back to it's decaying ruin

Seeing Andrew Ryan speaking to the people while just out of view Tenembaum drinks a cocktail in a bar=Heaven

We need the different magazine sections distinguished so we can tell between the when looking for information on one...

(When I asked the store, they said they'd get Gamepro on Monday, but you got it in store before, so...I just want the Gamepro info)

Thank you so much! I can't even imagine how awesome this game is going to be to play. Everything there sounds beyond amazing and these few things sound extra good to me:

Set a full year before the first Bioshock during the civil war that devestated rapture.

Your apartment is like your menu, You can check leaderboards, customize your character, etc. (Customizing my characters is my favourite thing to do )

You can chose to go through the narative which explains your role in rapture and in the war or skip it and go straight into matches.

Each of the 8 playable characters have their own melee weapon. Same damage for all though.

My excitement levels are goings crazy right now.

Ok the thing that gets me most, as amazing as that article was and as spectacular as all the news is.

TORNADO BEES! BAHAHAAHAHAAHAHA! Sorry just think of the hilarity.

Seriously though, multiplayer sounds one thousand kinds of amazing. I am so flipping eager right now.

Whats this about Bioshock 3 being not in Rapture though

Anyway just a rumour so lets stick to whats at hand. Everything sounds so freakin' brilliant.
    I am seriously overjoyed.

I am looking forward to living in my virtual art deco Rapture apartment of awesomeness until my body withers and dies too. What a great interface, I am so in love.

Hey, don't tell anyone. I got bored slaving away in that workshop and some jerk kept coming in my office stealing random junk.

I am looking forward to Bioshock Multiplayer as much as the single player. Infact I think I'll play the multi first...

I bought the PCGAMER yesterday, and it does sound awesome! But I need to find the Gamepro, even though you put this up it is always nice to see the information in the magazine. But great summary, you must have really put some time in that.

You know, at first, I was rather skeptical of the multiplayer. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't screeching "RUINED FOREVER" like some people were but I figured it'd be a tacked on, Metroid Prime 2-style thing and if not, I figured it'd be just another festering cesspitt for the typical Halo/Counter-Strike crowd.

I am so very, very happy that I've been proven wrong.

    So happy.

Really, this sounds like seven kinds of awesome, the only down side at this point is waiting until November.

I really like that Geyser Trap is a prototype Cyclone/Plasmid Trap, though. I makes sense, doesn't it? And it makes sense why they'd replace it too. Seems like blasting seawater directly into the city might not have been the best idea.

-Your character starts off normal and starts to mutate the more you splice.

That's pretty much it. Added to the things in my first post. I was kind of relieved that it was a bunch of lies about major plot killers. Anyways if I do find more i'll surely keep you guys posted .
thank you, nice to know they lied about major spoilers

Figures. I guess they have to sell their magazines somehow. I guess we wait for E3 for some more information.

Thanks for sharing, Parasite. I couldn't find the magazine anywhere and it apparently had some interesting things in it.

Yeah, take any headlines that say "MAJOR SPOILERS AHOY!!! (buy our magazine, please!) with a grain of salt at this point. Remember, 2K isn't dumb. BioShock 2 has plenty of great buzz already, so they have zero motivation to release anything to the press that will ruin the experience for the player.

Once the game is released? THAT is a different matter. Then if a magazine mentions major spoilers, it's probably true.

Thanks again for posting all this, Parasite!

All they could comment when asked about a DLC is that they know DLC's are important to players. They could be saying "Sure, we'll have one" or they could ALSO be saying "...There won't be one...PLEASE DON'T HURT ME!"

    Gamepro Information:

    Page 52
    - Image of your Prototype Big Daddy. 2 lights on the neck seem to function as a flashlight, although no confirmation information in the article.

    Pages 53-54
    - New Images and Old Info

    Page 55
    - Maxed-out Rivet Gun fires super-heated projectiles that set enemies ablaze. (This was probably determined off a special ammo type, but unknown.)
    - Fully upgraded drill is diamond-tipped for carving through enemy armor. (Not Necessarily Splicers with armor)
    - Weapons and Plasmids can be used in conjuncture. (Use Telekinesis to pull Splicers into your Drill)

    Page 56
    - You will meet the classic Bouncer and Rosie, as well as several new designs.

    Page 57
    - "In BioShock 2, you'll overhear conflicting tales about the fate of original protagonist Jack Ryan from characters who alternately mythologize and demonize him."

    Page 58
    - The new antagonist of Rapture "...may also share a mysterious history with the Big Sister..."
    - "...your Big Daddy prototype, a living experiment that somehow slept through the events of the first game." COULD suggest forced hibernation, but unknown.
    - You lived through Raptures history, becoming a Big Daddy through mysterious events.
    - "...you'll experience playable scenarios set in Rapture's earlier days..." Although details on these are closely guarded, they have confirmed them to be playable and interactive.

    Page 59
    - Old Images and Old Info.

    Page 60
    - The third multiplayer game mode will use Little Sisters in some way.

    Page 61
    - Old Images and Old Info

    Page 62
    - "Multiplayer begins safely within your apartment on Rapture, a fully realized 3D space that you can explore at your leisure. In the next room, an intercom buzzes into life..." Your apartment does not seem to be the only room of the multiplayer menu.
    - Circus of Values vending machines will restock your ammo and Eve.
    - Turrets "...protect select hotspots." This could suggest that areas where players may have a high tendency of collecting will be discouraged by these security measures.
    - Health will slowly replenish, presumably over the course of gameplay.
    - Plasmids will interact with traditional weapons in satisfying ways from player to player.
    - Online matches and Combat Challenges will help you unlock more powerful plasmids, weapons, and other rewards.
    - These upgrades will be doled out over 20 ranks.
    - When asked about a DLC, a general, openly interpretable answer was given. "We understand that it's important."

    Page 63
    - "Once proud citizens of Rapture, the Splicers have turned to ADAM as a way to protect their families from the growing civil war."

Note: Old Info and Images are relative to PC Gamer Magazine and earlier.

It is very interesting reading all this information, particularly the multiplayer stuff which I have been looking forward to. It sounds like an excellent concept so far, starting out in your apartment which you can view leaderboards and upgrade your character and then entering a bathysphere to take you a to a match (which I hope will not take long to find one). It sounds like it should have a lot of depth with choices of 2 weapons (I'm assuming one weapon may have to be the pistol), 2 plasmids and 3 gene tonics (how many will be in the game is the question? Will they stack?).

10 player maximum will sound like the maps won't be that big and I can understand that. But it would've been awesome if it was 12-16 player and chaos was thrown all around the maps.

Sounds good so far, still deciding whether to get this on PC or on the 360.
