    Cancelling LE at Gamestop

Seeing as how there is not steelbook in the LE, as indicated by Elizabeth on the Cult of Rapture site (Just click all news and go down about half way) I'm canceling my order. The Big Daddy figure is cool, but I only ordered it for the case. So my question is, where is the best place to order the Steelbook from Europe? Is Game.co.uk a good dealer? They have the LE Steelbook up for order so I'm thinking of getting that. Any other places I should look into? Thanks.

Eh...you should have done the research earlier. Even I knew it wasn't coming in a Steel Case. It's because all these companies release their CE/LE with metal cases, that suddenly everyone thinks that's how they are all going to come.

I'm cancelling it because of the disturbing intel on how crappy the LE actually is. If a picture is worth a thousand words <_< Then I just saw a dissertation on the Mathematics of Quantum Neutrino Fields.

Well, on the bright side, NTSC > PAL.

Exactly! That's the main reason I'm buying the LE instead of DLing the torrent. I want that damn BD figure.

Should have done my research, what are you talking about? Posted by Elizabeth on the Cult of Rapture website on Jul 24 2007:

The BioShock Collector's Edition is available for PC and Xbox 360 and contains the game in a limited edition embossed steel case, a Making Of DVD, Soundtrack CD, hand finished resin figurine (14cm height).

I do not have a list of all the specific retailers as of now, but will update you with more details (including a finalized picture of the packaging) when I have more news!

And I believe what I see, rather than what I read. EB already knew what was coming in it, and had the picture of the correct box. If you're buying from them, it wouldn't hurt to look at what they are selling.

Lol Liz...boy are you gonna be getting some major heat.

Sorry, but I would have thought the people who are actually designing the LE would have more accurate info than an online store's website.

Plus, I could have swore the website said Tin Case or Steelbook when I ordered it, but it doesn't say it anymore as you point out.

Thats Europe's version. Notice the age marker? Nothing that resembles NTSC.

Man, people are getting way to worked up about this. I'm dissapointed too, but the LE is still worth the extra cash for the BD figurine. And no one should be blaming Liz for the error. She's probably not the one who made the executive decision on what the final box would be like.

Honestly, people. I'd still gladly pay 60-70 dollars for this game if all it came in was just a regular box. Don't get caught up in the goodies, get caught up in the game.

Why would you torrent this game in the first place...

  16. #16
I thought it was known that the LE wasnt going to have a metal case? It was the only reason I didnt preorder the LE a few months back so that information has existed for some time. I would gladly pay extra for a metal case (even PDZ) but I dont pay extra for anything else like toys or soundtracks.

at this point the BD seems to me like a cheap gimick to sell more copies.

most of the people here are getting it,they threw out the artbook and didnt tell anybody until the last minute. It seems like they created an inferior product when they made the gamestop version of the game, the least they could have done was make a cardboard or plastic box to make it at least a semi-permanent place to store the game. and the big daddy doesnt look so durable.

this is the most ghetto collectors edition i have ever seen. but im still buying it.

It'd be funny if it turns out that we still get a small steel case, but either way, I'm in it for the figurine, not some box I'll be tossing into a bookshelf.

"Limited Edition Embossed Steel game case" the game case is steel it only comes in a box because the big daddy cannot fit in the steel box if thats what this is all about.

I could care less about the case. I doubt i'll be staring at it long enough to be depressed that its not metal. Im getting the LE for the BD figurine and the extras.

the artbook was never going to be in the LE, it didn't get enough votes.

As for this whole "Steel case vs plastic" argument, the LE (which is the NTSC version) is a plastic case, while the CE (which is PAL) is a steelbox case. We were never deceived or lied to, you just didn't pay enough attention.

I don't think I've ever seen a Special Edition of a game come in a regular plastic case... Whatever, as long as my Big Daddy isn't broken I'm happy!

Well she said it came with a steel case so now you just get a single case with 3 disks jammed into it, and a big daddy figure that has a high chance of being broken.

off the top of my head, Rainbow Six Vegas and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. I think Madden 07 HoFE was that way, as well as Need for Speed.

So why is the U.S. excluded from the steel case?
