    Mysterious Ghost Figure...

    Hola,

I was playing the demo and about the second time through I found the fire plasmid, but before I took a right into the bathrooms to grab the plasmid I noticed the screen was going fuzzy and sort of black and white. I thought it was a clue to pickup the voice recording or something, but when I took a right into the bathroom I saw this zombie ghost like figure of a woman. She was at the sink talking to herself.

I think its like foreshadowing to something even greater of a problem or story later. My friend says that its the girl who was on the voice dairy downstairs in that area, the one who was alone and suddenly everything went wrong. I will play the demo later today and listen carefully to what the..zombie lady is saying.

Also, if thats from the girl... I bet theres going to be a lot of other dead people and voice messages. Theres going to be a lot more then just getting through there, but Atlas does plead for your help too.. "You're the only way I might be able to see my wife and child again." It's going to be great, and were only 6 days away till release!

I've yet to play the game, I've only seen videos so far, but can the ghost be spotted before you get the audio recording or after? I couldn't tell in one video since the player picked the audio file up first, but the screen started going black and white as he was walking up to it.

someone mentioned that plasmids may retain some of the memories of their former users and one of the plasmids you picked up may have been hers at one point, and that is why you see her as a ghost

The ghost lady looked as if she was all burnt sorta, she like had no skin layer or what ever. I'll take a better look next time, but that sounds like an explanation.

I am sure there is some sort of semi-logical explination like there was in ss2.

did someone see her without get either plasmid? Does anyone know exactly what she says? I'd would try to find out more myself but I dont have the demo

Umm guys they did the exact same thing is SS2. Its just a short mini-cutscene to help explain what somethind is doing or show something you can do around the environment. Like how in this case it explained what the plasmid was doing just lying around.

The only bit I can remember is "I'm too spliced up"

are you saying the LS sucks your soul out with a big syringe. Isnt your soul supposed to leave the body immediatly after death? are you saying that little DNA rings take over your soul?

    You should probably keep the

She says "I'm too spliced up....I'm too spliced up....no one will want me...." and cries. It's just a way to pull you deeper into the feeling of the "Utopia" gone "Dystopia", by giving you a look in the past without actually bringing you there.

    Sigh.

First off It was only a brief thought at the time of posting. I didn't say soul, I said 'soul', I don't personally believe in all that, but maybe it's tied to the adam, you know the glowing bit she can see inside you. Maybe I'm wrong or maybe it's because I'm a new member, he assumed I mean't after I had harvested the bodies, not the LS.

nah, Im fairly sure that they are there to add to the atmosphere, like that one that shoots himself in SS2, and all other things are secondary

Im thinking something along those lines but with memory instead of the soul

That was really creepy when I first saw it, I didn't know what the hell it was. I guess it's just there for atmosphere.

Well I'm assuming its not. It would take a lot of work to do that and have your view completely change because of the ghost. I think it builds-up later in the full game. Maybe you keep coming across these ghosts. I'm sure it fits into the plot somehow.

I guess not many of you guys played system shock 2?

  23. #23
    I too saw this...

In the review on OXM it says that these "Visions" will be explained fully later on.

I swear I heard her say that she is "Too spliced" and that "No-one will like her" - anyone confirm this?

Mclintoc's diary was interesting as well...

Well, the detail in that scene still makes me think that is more than just atmosphere. I think it happens more than once.

I thought it was an amazing touch that ghost. She was worried no one will want her because she ruined herself (Although she could get facial reconstruction at the Medical Pavilion) but its nice to see the characters have sides to them other than "the enemy"

We see a human side, she was sad, upset and worried and this adds personality to the splicers, they have feelings and you understand that, I no longer see them as just an enemy and feel sad for them.

Cheesy exposition? Concept ripped off from other games that probably should have been left there?

Suddenly he is psychic of something? The effect was well done in the Darkness when the lead character was remembering the past, but here it definitely feels like a creativity failure that should have been reigned in before release - maybe a remnant from an older conceptualization of the game that didn't get totally removed.

Personally, I found the game had enough other ways to communicate story line without it, and what was conveyed didn't really add anything to the story or environment feeling for me.

its to add personality to the splicers so you dont want to kill them its about adding moral choices just like with hte little sister

For me, he was like, "I just wanted some company!"
