make Mafia 3 but please DON'T listen to the fans

Oh yes, I agree with that. I don't think game developers should pay much attention to what the fans want, I rather think they should pay attention to the feedback/criticism they get on the product they made.

This is just me, trying to discuss a possible MAFIA 3 title. I don't have a "my way or the highway" attitude about liking a new title. Maybe they come up with something that might excite me, but still not be what I write about here.

No, the developers pay attention to their publisher/producer on what kind of game they want to release to market, weighing the development and marketing costs against expected sales. They can go for a 10 million or 2 million or 500,00 seller - that's up to the publisher to decide (and in what time frame). The budget and thus, the type of game (gameplay, setting, add-ons, etc.) are then set accordingly.

If there comes a Mafia III, there should be a build-in free roam mode because I don't want to use mods and stuff.
And you should be able to repair and tune trucks and busses too.

You were not able to free roam without mods and stuff?

Well yes you were able to free-roam, but you had to pick the right mission so you could actually do something else.
I was quite tired of having to wait for Vito to get up and call his mother before I could actually do stuff.
The free-roam mod did help out very well, but I think it should be build-in the game instead of modding it.

Of course there is no official work between 2K Czech and Rockstar Games GTA V. But! I think that 2K Czech sent a couple of good quality workers to Rockstar Games. Why not?

Its of course no need to make it official. It is a Rockstar Games Product but certainly witha little help from 2K Czech workers.

I hope all of you understand me

Anything is possible but if it was happenings i would expect 2k to say nothing, or maybe it's reverse psychology

No doubt 2Kcz have plenty of talent in the cutscenes dept but do Rockstar really need outside help with their resources? Not likely really......

Just found this, does anyone know if the figures are correct? (DLC figures are obviously wrong but can be found on the leaderboards easily)

    who knows, apart from T2...

but 2.5 global is probably about right given T2 said a while back Mafia series sales had passed 5million iirc.

I would be surprised if PS3 sales exceeded 360 though (even with the Japan boost) given the PS3 version missing some graphics features was pretty poor imo.

I would of thought that you would play as Vito again or something for example you could go to this "Celebration" and Vito pulls out a gun and you have to kill everyone and Leo runs away or something . . . And it takes the whole Mafia 3 to rescue Joe.

They should make a DLC for Joe and explain what happens. You can argue he may have been killed but because how it ended developers can allow Joe to live or die but instead of making a sequel DLC would save time and just continue on M3 but without a sequel

  15. Hopefully we'll see something at E3

    mafia 3=rockstar games.

I won't bother buying it from 2k Czech. If there is only one who could do this well, its Rockstar. They have the most experience here,so Take Two,make the right decision!!

  18. sadly it might end up that way, but what the heck half of the original team is gone anyways.

What decision should Take-Two make? :/

Mafia III = Story Action Game or Mafia III = Fun Ride?

Why won't you buy Mafia III if it was developed by 2K Czech? Why would you buy Mafia III if it was published by Rockstar Games and developed by a different gaming company? Why do you think that Rockstar has the most experience?

I guess that you want Rockstar to buy Mafia and make it a somewhat fun ride extreme with a large open world tag to it. What about the other sandbox games out there? Newer ones such as Grand Theft Auto V coming out soon? Or the ones that have been released long, long ago such as Saints Row the Third, Infamous 2, Grand Theft Auto IV, etc etc

How well will Rockstar do if they work on Mafia III? :/ The right decision I BELIEVE that Take Two should make is to PLEASE let the Mafia franchise stay at 2K's turf and not slip out elsewhere and be targets for many other mainstream public. Period.

You really must be upset that many things were chopped off from Mafia II's script, well it's the developer's decision anyways of why Mafia II went the way it did because of many other sandbox games out there. It's like many people want only Sandbox to run the market! Sure, like lostinmafia_heaven said, Mafia III might end up going along Rockstar's turf to which I highly do not agree ASAP. If you don't like the way the Mafia franchise is, there's always other games that has EXACTLY what you're feeding for and that's up your alley.

I would not buy Mafia 3 if it's a kids-like sandbox game. There has to be a market for more grown-up story-like game and not the crap that Rockstar keeps putting out.

Why I do agree that the story driven Mafia would be far superior, I am not sure if I would call Rockstar's sandbox games "kid-like" :\

Agree, It's more like mature content in a vast playground....

Take 2 already have an established sandbox brand so I'm hoping they don't get tempted into making another mafia game into a GTA clone, it would be the worst possible thing they could do IMO, the story would get lost in a sea of collectibles and repetitive side quests, putting a Rockstar label on the box on the box wouldn't save it.

Which is funny considering that a lot of the criticisms of Mafia 1 when it came out was that it was too much like a GTA clone.

By the way, "mature content" in a snadbox action game does not make a mature, quite the opposite imo. Apart from my bias about console games, the coolness factor in many of such games is to go around, kill stuff and do ☺☺☺☺. Sure it could be a fun diversion but don't tell me it's a mature thing to do.

Yes but only an incredibly stupid person would think that, there were just as many criticisms about a lack of things to do in the city and not being able to revisit locations etc, but they did try and resolve that which didn't work out too well.....

By mature content I mean sex, drugs, violence etc there's really nothing childish about the story, but it is a cartoon world. RDR was a more "mature" game compared to GTA, and Max Patne is about as gritty and dark as a game can get, L A Noire was not really for kids, they can do it but it doesn't suit GTA.

Let Rockstar touch the games that doesn't go against what they do to such as the Infamous series or other open-world games.

I may be diverting from the conversation a bit, but I think I had an awesome idea for something that COULD be integrated into Mafia III, should it happen and should the developers pay attention to the forums. Just saying, I saw a video today on youtube. This guy was talking about how Mafia III should be more open world. Their should be more side quests or at least things to do. I totally agree. After beating all of the dlcs, taking tedious hours to collect all of the wanted posters and playboys, pimpin' out ever car I could get my hands on, hauling ass around the city and smacking up my ride and then spending tons of money on fixing them. So, here's my idea. What if in your spare time, you could train your character. If you had something like stats, but on fixing cars, upgrading weapons, or even taking on odd jobs around the city. You could train your character on fixing cars with Mike Bruski, that way you could collect things around the city to put towards fixing your own rides. You could rob every other shop, why not robbing mechanics? Or you could collect things to upgrade your own personal arsenal. Even the idea of taking on odd jobs. You could take on a job fixing weaponry or cars. I think it would make the game more submersive, and make it more and more realistic. The idea of interacting with more and more characters and maybe even libraries and other stores seems awesome to me. Any opinions?

This is something that belongs in GTA V or one of the Saints Row games. The thing with the MAFIA series is to have the city as a backdrop, not being open for exploring as much you might be used to in other similar games. And it shouldn't be over the top with anything. The series benchmark is its cinematic storytelling. Side quests and such should be held back to a minimum and instead there should be More emphasis on the story. If however they find some clever way to implement side quests into the main story without interrupting the flow much (like in MAFIA and the early gameplay footage of MAFIA II where you would 'bump into' characters when on a main missions) then I think it will work out fine.

Stray anymore in the open world territory and I will have it difficult to see it as a MAFIA game.

    What he said.

Mafia should be about a cinematic experience, I understand the idea of value for money in open world games but they all rely on repetition to pad out the games clock, but unless you are really interested in achieving 100% completion there's not much value there at all, you're just doing the same thing over and over. Put more effort into the story and you'll leave players with more.

    See Mafia 1 for example

Not against things like buying clothes, customising cars but the usual open world padding should stay where it belongs.

    My thoughts?Really?Okay..

Fix the bug/glitches of police roadblocks(When killing police defenders and take the police car, a nowher police car spawned with 2 cop outside...)
Police officer should NOT die when the car is background
You should still can let the police siren turned on when leaving the car...
You should NOT get arrested immediately when pulling the cop outside of cop car
Gravity was so...stupid and dissapoint...Nothing flying...I would like MAFIA III cars can fall off bridges, city to sea
    People should be able swim
    Helicoptersd
MORE POLICE WANTED!(1-6(Or 1-10?Including soldiers and riot shield cops if needed))
    Also more police cars
Multiplayer(Important to make the game fun)

And the last, decrease the releaste date :P

...meanwhile back on planet earth. lol

Makes me laugh when I see posts with demands about a game that has not even
been officially announced. The danger is that if the Mafia franchise goes on too
long it WILL become like GTA, and to be honest that would kill the independence
    of this game.

As much as I know it would be nice to see a third instalment I just don't know if
that really would be a good idea, what we don't want is a "let's keep churning out
    Mafia games"
    mentality.

(btw, that does not mean I would not buy a third Mafia game,
but I am not going to lose sleep if it does not materialize)

  32. That ☺☺☺☺ made me laugh, oh yes, this game needs moar heli's

At least 2k's boss said they wouldn't be rolling games every year or so, the series has sold 5+ million now so that's suggests a 3rd game is possible but I doubt they would want it to take 5+ years to make

If its going to happen it'll probably have to be within the next 2 years or MS and Sony will be pushing out the next next gen and they'll be back to Mafia 2 development hell again

Not fussed either way, would actually prefer H&D3 but like Mafia 2 it's inevitable that'll be a shadow of its former self.

Hello! I'm new around here, but fairly aged when you're talking about games. I'm playing games since the 90's,The Terminator console,Sega Genesis,Dreamcast,Nintendo 64,all the PS consoles and 360,are the platforms on which i played over the years Enough with my introduction , I enjoyed and finish both Mafia games, the first one was a itsy bitsy more realistic( the garage system, the shooting mechanism, etc),both games had a strong story with strong and believable characters, which delivered a special atmosphere. The first Mafia was the surprize, but overall Mafia II is the better game(soundtrack, voice acting, visuals, game physics, etc).I'm looking forward for mafia 3.Cheerio!

Mafia is a game about organized crime. I was reading the comments here, and all i see is people who ask for MAFIA III to be set in 60's and 70's in Vegas.

I want to offer something for Mafia players. as you know besides the italian mafia there are a lot other organized crime groups.. such as the Russian Mafia (thieves in law) or the Asian Organized groups (Yakuza/Triads) I am tired of this italian mafia. I bet 90% of the folk here don't even know about mafia. they assume that they do by watching a few movies like "the goodfellas" or the "casino" guys please! the best stories are the untold ones!

Here's a quick Russian Mafia Lesson for you guys.
there is a term such as "Vor V Zakone" a Thief in Law. those of you who dont know who they are, these people are the equevelant of the godfather. you can't simply become a Thief, you have to earn respect, and then later be coronated as one. three other thieve's have to vouch for you. i suggest you guys go watch some documentaries on russian mafia and how it originated so you guys understand better. in the 1990's there was a huge Mafia War going on in Russia. The Thieves' were fighting for their rackets and extortions. just a thought, wouldnt you want Mafia III to be set in those times? in the 90's when soviet union just perished. with soviet cars, with Ak-47's!! I mean come on guys. there has never been a Russian Mafia game before. Let me know of your thoughts please.

There's a lot more to both games other than organised crime, that's just the back drop to the rags to riches plot and how it ultimately effects both central characters.& the people around them, from a story spelling pov that's more interesting than going into great detail about how the Mafia really works and creating some sort of Mafia sim.

Don't find the modern setting at all appealing regardless of where in the world it is set.
