    new research system?

okay, so basically you take photos of splicers and big daddies and you would learn their weaknesses and stuff. but know since you will be playing as a big daddy in bioshock 2 i think there sould be a new research system. well im all out of ideas, but can you think of a new way of upgrading without using a camera?

Funny thing, I just posted this somewhere.
I'm currently playing Bioshock again and just got the camera. I love it!
I wouldn't want them to take it out of the game. Besides, We get a lot of abilities from researching.

I'd like them to have research done in a different way, maybe if you can find dossiers on different enemy types or something, but if they research the same or even took it out completely, I dont think it will add or detract from the game too much.

I'm not sure, I liked it in the 1st game but i think there should be another way to get a upper hand on enemies.

Not that I really liked the idea of taking pictures of enemies while you're running around Rapture in the first place, it seems even weirder now that you'll be playing as a Big Daddy.

I think a better implementation would be based on how many of said enemy you kill (Or in the case of Bots, Turrets, Cameras, etc; Hack).

I like that idea better, or maybe they can just let us figure out what their weaknesses are.
You shoot a leadhead with a normal bullet, not much happens, so you try the anti-personal and it does decent damage so you use them more often, rather than being spoon fed the information (which i don't think is that bad either :P)

I really don't care. The camera was kinda annoying, but not ALL that bad.

I definitely want the camera to return, but I selected the wrong poll option.

Maybe it's built into his helmet, like the flashlight? A target analysis system to aid the prototype in defending Little Sisters against previously-unknown enemies?

This sounds most probably to me..some built-in system for analyzing enemies. Camera was great, it would be shame if they would remove research from game.

I think that the Camera was an addition that we could live without, and I didn't like the Camera missions. Ultimately, I don't care.

I didn't mind the camera one way or another. Besides the mission where we needed to use it, it wasn't required at all. So if you didn't like it you could ignore it.

I feel that since you are the original big daddy there would be no need to "research" anything besides the Big Sister. I mean, he has been in Rapture before its fall, so technically speaking, if he doesn't know what is hazardous to his health or how to defeat said hazards after 10 years of hiding..... Then I would seriously re-consider using him as the main character.

That's what I'm sayin! I love the camera, especially trying to get good shots. One thing they need to do is make an area in the options or start menu or whatever where you can actually look at the ones you've taken I always tried to get the best pictures. Especially for Cohen's masterpiece, and it looked that much better.

I was thinking that as well when I read the original question. Not something that is up all the time but maybe scrolling through your weapons to get to it like the camera but you kind of zoom in with a neato little interface where you can snap a few digital images.

I enjoyed the camera, immensely...But I can see where some research changes could be made.
Perhaps only use the camera on "organic" subjects (i.e. splicers, other BD's, etc...) For the turrets, cameras and such, you'd have to find mini-documentaries or instruction manuals on the maintennance, upgrading and directions for hacking and research level ups.
    Just a thought...

Good idea! that actually is a really good idea. Searching for info on the machines to learn more about them. I had never thought of that. Good thinking brotha. One main concern for me would be placement of the "documents" though. Hopefully not super random like Fallout 3 skill books if they did decide to use that idea. I really like it though.

im just interested to see if there will be new kinds of enemies to add on to the current ones. hopefully there will be and it allows for more research.

i dont think they will bring the camera back cause imagine it...a big daddy stopping to take pictures? yeah right. maybe something else in the helmet would work

if i had my way, there would be no research whatsoever. but ther would still be a camera, so you could upload cool pics and show them to your friends.

Interesting, never thought of it that way.XD.

But if we had to have a camera, I'd like it to be "installed" to the helmet, cause a Big Daddy with a Kodiak in his drill hand seems...odd...

I like the idea for finding instruction manuals on the security cameras and turrets.

Maybe there could be something in the drill or just something you carried around, that would extract the DNA from organic creatures (splicers, big daddies etc), then you would annalyse it somehow.

i like that idea. maybe you get the dna and need to go to a computer or give it to tenenbaum for analysis or something along the lines of that.

Well the first time I played I almost forgot about the camera till the end. Then when I replayed I started taking pictures.

I put meh I don't care but now that I think about it it was a pretty cool feature.

its good to have the camera but a newer research method would be great why not have two ways and the player can choose which one is suitable to their taste.

It may be good, but it's too similar to research system in System Shock 2 (you killed enemy, you found unknown organ in his body..if you have research skill high enough and had proper chemicals, you could start research), so I don't think they will use it..

I like the camera, but I would like something that allows me to keep track of what you have researched and your progress there.
