When were plasmids invented?

In other words, did they happen before or during the civil war? I thought I heard that they came during the war, and were predominantly used for war reasons and then after that came altering strength, looks, intelligence, and other attributes, but a friend disagrees. Any comments?

Of course, some plasmids were probably developed specifically for the war.

ADAM was discovered before and also caused the War.

It was during the war that the ability to splice ADAM with Human DNA to create Plasmids was discovered.

My quess is the plasmids were first being made to improve work speed and those kinda things but the because of the war the ``aggressive`` plasmids were made.

I think the teleportation and telekinesis plasmids and also healing plasmids were probably being used. But during the war electrecution and incineration were probably discovered

Plasmids were there before the war since they are what caused it, and also i would that some new plasmids were invented during the war.

I'm sure they weren't discovered any time around the Civil War, but WWII.

I'm guessing only 2-5 years after making Rapture. 1948, if it was built in 1946. That would give the 10 years between the war and invention.
