    Exclamation God, I'm Pumped!

I can't wait for this game. At first I thought the BioShock 2 idea sounded atrocious, but now that I read the GI article, I think this game is going to be better than the first. The prototype idea sounds kickass! Playing as a Big Daddy that has free will sounds enthralling and immersive. You must be able to sympathise with your character to truly immerse yourself, and under these circumstances, it sounds even more immersive than the first. Imagine: playing as a Big Daddy hanging on to the last strands of humanity it has left! Wow! I can't wait to step into those boots.

Hopefully the game is better than the first. If the second game has better gameplay than the first, I would only need for the story of the second to be good to push it over the top.

I thought I had heard all the news from the discussions here, but when I finally read the article myself I had the same reaction. The whole thing blew me away!

I had my doubts at first (and I still have some doubts) but I must agree, I am really excited for BS2.

I still have my doubts on how engaging the story will be compared to the first...

but I'm psyched for the game nonetheless...

Here, now. Have faith! 2K won't let us down! If they do, I will lose all my faith in mankind . Okay, maybe not, but I'll be pretty pissed.

    I have to agree...

The idea of being THE proto-type big daddy is starting to sound good. At first I wasnt sure. This could really be epic.

With the Big Sister in the first teaser looking over the ocean with the song playing, and the 2K site with all the clues and newspaper clippings, plus the knowledge that you will be her arch enemy in the form of the proto-BD...another great story is already starting to emerge.

Like above, I was skeptical at first. But seeing how 2K has handled both the teaser trailer and the viral site I doubt that they'll drop the ball on this one. After all, 2K Marin is made (for the most part) of the people who worked on the first game.

I guess the majority was skeptical, but as I said in another thread, I don't want to get too pumped, and get my expectations too high, because depending on your expectations the game could be better than Bioshock, and you still would be disappointed.

But it is kind of inevitable, after reading the GI article, you will get excited, because it just sounds too good.

Kevin Levine has stated that he has confidence in 2k Marin, so I will too.

the only thing people should be worried about is the missing of the Levine touch, aka the midas touch.
other than that, 2k marin hasn't messed up anything, mainly because they haven't had the chance to.
clean record, means you can't judge.

Clean record means you can't judge? I'd have to disagree with that, and with 2K Marin being considered a clean record.

A clean record in this case would be a new franchise. 2K Marin is going to be held to the standards of the original Bioshock.

And beyond that, this is their first game (as far as I know). This is what people will judge the entire company on.

I hope if anyone from 2K Marin reads this that they relax and realize they are epic and its not problem. But for mere mortals, the pressure would be on!

by clean record i mean their first game alone.
i understand they have to live up to bioshock, [and they damn well better, no pressure 2k]
but they still have never shown any work alone, without ken levine and his crew.
    so, goodluck.

I agree. I 'm pumped as well! I wouldn't be too worried about htis game. 2K Knows what a great game BioShock was and all this time they have been taking to get everyone fired up like with the teaser site and such is just looking promising. Even though there is very little info out, the more that I see the more that I am getting stoked! Good Job 2K

I don't think that Kevin Levine would entrust Bioshock 2 to a group that he didn't have confidence in, so I am fairly certain that they will do a good job, cause if they don't, they can expect the backlash from the entirety of Bioshock 1's community

    Rolf.

2K Marin is probably looking through the forum. "God, I'm Pumped!" sounds like a good heartwarming title for a thread about our new game!

Then they look through the messages and its all death threats XD

Would he really say anything different? Even if he wasn't confident, It's not like he'd ever say it to the public...

I agree with AspirationRealized, just because a similar team made a great game, it doesn't automatically pave the way for 2k marin to hit it out of the park.

Not to discourage anyone...just trying to keep the expectations realistic...

Yeah, that annoyed me a little bit. Julie Langford, Tenenbaum, the "Lady Jane" splicers, and almost every female corpse had the same model and texturing. The only original models were the Andrew Ryan and Sander Cohen models.

Me niether. Fall never felt so far away... I feel like I'm a 10 year old waiting for Christmas. Let's hope it doesn't get delayed like...gulp...GTA IV. I was so pissed. I pre-ordered for October, but I ended up having to wait until April. Here's to hoping that doesn't happen.

I don't know the exact day because I only got to listen to the podcasts after some time, but Elizabeth says in the first podcast "...this is the week of January 14th 2007..."

The first Bioshock 2 podcast will be released on April 13th, along with some other Cult of Rapture exclusives

I was asking because I was wondering if the first podcast for BioShock 2 will be coming out around the same time frame as the first podcast of BioShock 1.

Everybody just needs to CHILL OUT. There will be enough copies for everybody.

Speaking of getting a copy the first day, if any stores are doing a midnight release for it, I might have to do it. This would be the first time I would be doing it for a game, too.

I can't wait to come sail away in Sea of Dreams!
With lots of blood and gore... And child slavery... And insane people...

I guess that song isn't nearly as fitting as I thought it was originally. For some reason the angelic piano chords don't seem to go along with the literal and metaphorical dementia and genocide that is Rapture.

I agree thrall, and the more media I am seeing, the more I am liking this. I think its story is turning out to be even richer than Bioshocks was!
