Kotaku.com said some weeks ago that Sony will announce games for PS3, of which everyone thought they would be exclusive for other plattfoms. Nontheless, Microsoft made exclusivity contracts for Bioshock, which can't be broken that easily. Limited time exclusivity is possible, though.

If it's true then 2K and IG would know about it. For BioShock to be released on PS3 in September 07 they would have to be working on it already. My guess is it's a bunch of baloney.

    I don't know...this next generation is a whole multi-platform war.

Surely IG and 2K would know if it's true, but that does not mean that they would tell us.

Many games have been in development for PS3 (Like Assasin's Creed and the latest Devil May Cry) and then we heard that it has been developed for 360, too. Why shouldn't it be the way around?

The more you hear people whispering, the higher the chances are that they tell the truth. I somehow get the impression that the game comes out for 360 and PC simultaneously and right after release, 2K and Sony announce a polished PS3 version for half a year later.

Until we have a official press release, this is just another rumour...like all the ones before.

So is it a 'timed exclusive' or is it truly exclusive to PC/360 ?

i can't honestly see mircosoft paying huge bucks fof bioshock as an exclusive title if that period only lasts for the first month after the games release in august!

@Freddo: The link I posted in my first reply.....but I can copy the press release in here, too:

2K Announces BioShock as an Exclusive Xbox 360 and Games for Windows title

New York, NY – September 28, 2006 – 2K, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), today announced that BioShock, its highly anticipated and award-winning innovative first person shooter, will be released exclusively on Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games for Windows, the new brand optimized for Windows XP and Windows Vista. Slated for 2007 and developed by Irrational Games, a 2K development studio, BioShock will forever change the expectations for the first-person shooter.

“2K is excited to release BioShock exclusively on Xbox 360 and under the Games for Windows brand on the PC,” said Christoph Hartmann, President, 2K. “BioShock is the next step in the evolution of first-person shooters and a perfect title to push the limits of Xbox 360.”

”We expect BioShock will set a new mark in next generation gaming when it launches next year,” said George Peckham, general manager, global third party publishing for the Interactive Entertainment Business, Microsoft. “We’re thrilled that gamers will be able to experience BioShock only as an Xbox 360 and Games for Windows title.”

The Games for Windows branding ensures that consumers have a consistent, reliable gaming experience on Windows XP and Windows Vista with easier game installation, improved reliability, and support for key Windows Vista features. These titles will also support wide-screen gaming, can be launched from within Windows Media Center, will be compatible with 64 bit consumer versions of Windows and support the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows.

Taking full advantage of both Microsoft platforms, BioShock takes place among the ruins of an underwater utopia. After your plane crashes into icy, uncharted waters, you discover a rusted bathysphere and descend into Rapture, a city hidden beneath the sea. Constructed as an ideal society for a hand-picked group of scientists, artists and industrialists, Rapture collapsed under the weight of its own idealism. Now the city is littered with corpses, wildly powerful guardians roam the corridors, mutated little girls scavenge the dead, and genetically modified citizens ambush you at every turn.

BioShock is in development for Xbox 360 and Windows and will be released in 2007. For more information please visit www.2kgames.com.

Plus this answer, Kotaku.com has received:

UPDATE: 2K reps just contacted us to let us know "BioShock is exclusive to Xbox360 and PC Games for Windows."

Yeah, it doesn't matter. I'll be on the 360 but really everyone should be able to play. I just hate it when developers add specific console extras to entice; it's not that big of a a deal but sometimes one version will have co-op while the other doesn't, etc.

If your going to add extras, be like "The Darkness", which is adding more 'TV shows/art extra content to the ps3 version because of the blue-ray format.

I don't see any talk about any contract anywhere Or about Microsoft giving them any kinds of funds except for some promoting of it, which is in their interest as it's their console and they want to give it as much publicity as possible.

All I see is that the game is currently only announced for PC and Xbox360. Which could easily change in the future as it has with a ton of other games, like TES4: Oblivion.

Contracts are made in the background...they don't need to be mentioned in every press release.

And no, what you said is not the same: Oblivion has never been announced as PC/360 exclusive. There were just announcements that this game will appear on both systems (which is the difference). Thus, there is no contradiction if other plattforms will be announced afterwards.

Bioshock instead was announced as PC/360 exclusive.

And now the semi-official Sony blog has retracted its story:

Um, scratch what was said in the previous story about Bioshock. We’ll confirm either way as soon as we can. Meantime, consider Three Speech’s Easter eggs confiscated…

Addition to this story. There is currently no indication that Bioshock will come out on the PS3. Apologies for the previously inaccurate information. Steve Boxer will now not get any Easter eggs next year, either
    End of story.

Nah, it sucks already. Can't run STALKER at 2048*1536 with all options on, full dynamic lighting and all, and get consistent 60fps. Piece of ☺☺☺☺

Nah, I have a cat . I just wanted to pull down the rumour, since people seemed to register here, just to flood the boards with questions about it.

    I have nothing against Sony, I've got a VAIO laptop and a PS2 .

totally funny Raveness ! And an astute comment as well, given the activity surounding this latest false rumour.

I would omly care,if,2K suddenly anounced it being true afterall, and telling us that the game has now been yet again delayed for another 3 to 6+ months.

But of course I know this is not the case.

thats a gross exaggaration, especially seeing as there are only a handful of titles out for the ps3 to begin with. Actaully, I haven't heard a single exclusive go over to PS3 yet.
