On my first run, guns only. Just like in SS2, blasting things to hell without using any of that Psionic stuff.

On the subject of a last boss, I wouldn't think Ryan himself would be it. Maybe some kind of genetically altered beast he created would be better suited?
Maybe he himself becomes a monster, just like the player can by the use of plasmids.

    It will be interesting.

Doesn't have to be necessarily the "biggest monster" but I believe it should be the most challenging bit of the game.
What's the use of having the climax in the middle and the rest of the game simple and easy compared to it? It would become somewhat boring.

Well if we are assuming that plasmids = psionic powers, then it must be stated no use of ACTIVE plasmids

Unless someone cleared up that plasmid and gene tonic mess and i missed it

I think that Mr. Ryan will not be the final boss, but I think you will have to fight him.

I will play through the game twice before trying it without plasmids, then I'll try it using only plasmids, if its possible.

I find myself wondering if the last boss's powers will vary depending on your own player-character's character development. If it is Andrew Ryan I'd guess he'd probably have the top of the line Plasmids, and maybe the ones he'll have fitted might be chosen based on the player-character's specialisation. Who knows.

    this is sort-of off the main topic but continueing one that has sprung up;

Whenever I play through a game the first time, I want to get the feeling the developers intended for you to have. Generally this means playing through on the "normal" difficulty, however in the case of Bioshock I plan to plan to play through using all the resources that are given to me. The replay value will be in going with a more specialist role. Sort-of an "Ok, I've done it with all of this... let's see how it feels when I only do this" thought-process for me.

I've developed the habit of playing through on normal and re-starting if it gets to the point where it's frustratingly difficult (i.e. if the game's not worth putting in the extra attention and effort to keep on going past the point that it requires extra attention and effort to keep on going).

If a game looks to be a little uninteresting (for me) from the start I'll play on easy.

I'll also drop it to easy if it means one-shot kills and not having to keep re-starting; or if it increases the game's realism in other similar ways (i.e. not everyone's a tank, your not reincarnated knowing what to expect around the next corner every five minutes etc.)

If I like the game and increasing the difficulty level makes some kind of meaningful difference to the gameplay (i.e. not just adding a ton of hit points to all of the enemies), then I'll play on difficult.

With BioShock, I'm guessing I'll play on normal pretty much the whole way through (since I'm imagining it'll have a good enough balance to sustain my interest).

I'd probably only play on an 'ultra hard' difficulty setting (and play to the best of my abilities) if there's some kind of meaningful unlockable at the end of it (something worth playing for).

Yes, you will meet him. Details, context, and possible outcome(s) of that meeting would all be spoilers...

This does raise an interesting question (which I'm sure has been broached already... but heck!):

How the hell DO you get out of Rapture?

You're assuming too much. What makes you think you can leave? *maniacal laugh ensues*

'twould be interesting if the player's motivation was finding his/her way out of Rapture, constantly progressing through goals to achieve that result, only for it to be sprung on you late in the game that the last avenues of escape were scuttled shortly after you're arrival. Bummer

14 people total, and it's fifty-fifty with seven votes a piece.

I didn't vote, but I'll probably give it a shot at some point, so I guess I should vote 'yes'.

The thing is, if we post too many duplicate posts they fill up the board and the moderators start hassling us to use the search function to find if the topics already posted.

Most of the questions covered by the fAQs have already been asked.

In all honesty - and I'm not flaming you Splicer - I've heard the question of "Will you use plasmids or not?" approx. one million times in various different forums. It's the first thing that people ask when they enter a discussion.

It's a fair question, don't get me wrong. And most people will likely say this:

"I'll probably play it using plasmids, but I'll also try without any at all. Or maybe a mixture.."

That's the beauty of games like this. You can, if you like, go ahead and play it a different way. It's really up to you.

Anybody that plays Bioshock just the one time is a fool, really.

What if the boss is Atlas? Like what if he is the City? or what if you find criminals that are still in hold of a mind but abuse it with evil, (sientest that want to be claimed descoverers of adam or plasmids, or are testing on splicers trying to make a cure to be rewarded but instead is enging up mass murdering everyone!)

The last boss will be Ryan and he'll constantly change himself into different species of sea creatures with different types of attacks and weaknesses. For instance, at one point he'll transform into a pissed off goldfish and he'll hurl painful 40's insults at you while twitching and struggling for air on the floor. And after you bested him he will present a last and monumental plot twist: "Dude... I, I am your father". And then you wake up and realize it was all just a nightmare and THEN you'll wake up again(!!!) and realize that YOU are Ryan himself and the whole adventure was luckily just a dream.
The final cinematic will show you walking out of your office, smiling at the wonderful people who inhabit this perfect city.

Well I'd figure at the end you'd find some type of jet ski or little boat. I mean, you only go there because you're stuck in water and have no where else to go, correct?

That'd be the obvious ending anyway, unless you rebuilt it or something of that sort.

The city was built on the 1940's or something...you enter it in 2007 (at least that is what I think) ....and at that time he was old...so the only way I think he could be there is in a Totenkopft from Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow kind of way....but I can be wrong

As someonw else mentioned, I'll try playing through one game with pure guns, one game pure plasmids (if possible), and one game with both. Possibly pure guns the first time through, which will depend on how the game affects me.
