Thread: Favorite Voice Actor?

    Favorite Voice Actor?

Let me start off by saying that, IMO, everyone did an excellent job on the voice acting in this game. All characters absolutely sold their cliche's (Irish guy, Russian girl, Chinese Scientist).

But I must say that Fontaine took it to another level. The New York Thug drawl just screamed "low-life" and the subtle 50's slang ("Busto!") just made it all the more believable. Also, in the final moments of the game, you can really hear the anger inflect Fontaine's voice as you get closer and closer to bringing him down. Just brilliant.

Actually, the guy that did Fontaine's voice didn't do Atlas' voice. I heard an interview with the guy who voiced Fontaine, he said he had originally voiced Atlas as well, but they went with someone else.
But I must agree; Fontaine was just brilliant! It really did seem like a movie.

i really believe the man who did andrew ryans voice was great. He made you feel that andrew ryan was actually talking to you and it seems like it would be the voice acting in a movie. his speeches are done very well also. especially the speech when he says "A season for all things! A time to live and a time to die! A time to BUILD and a time to DESTROY!!" and also the "a man choses and a slave obeys speech". Andrew Ryan was my favorite character in the game and i think the voice acting had a major part in it.

I think all the voice actors did fantastic jobs. My favorites would have to be whomever did Steinman's voice, as he pretty much amped up the disturbing factor all through Medical Pavilion. Also, Diane McClintock had an awesome voice too.

For some reason Diane McClintock was my favorite audio diary person most likely because she was the first person you hear

Where is this interview, Mari? I always wondered about this. What did Atlas's original voice sound like then?

Personally, for me I thought the voice actors for Ryan, Fontaine and Atlas did an awesome job.

I really couldnt choose between the three voice actors for Ryan, Fontaine and Atlas. They were all amazing

It was thought that the same actor did both Fontaine and Atlas but wasnt so. Greg Baldwin did the voice of Fontaine while Karl Hanover was Atlas (though his name isnt in the credits, for some legal reason he had to go under a different name) Cant remember exactly where i saw this but it was around here somewhere

Armin did great work with Ryan (Armin Shimmerman, also known as Quark in Star Trek ) He made the speeches so good and realistic. Karl did great with Atlas, particuarly the sub scene which sounded so convincing. Greg was very good with Fontaine, just fit that character perfectly of the type of person Fontaine is

Those are just my fav 3. Every bit of voice acting in the game was done so well, even the random splicer mumblings. Think Cohen deserves a mention as well though. The voice actor for him did amazingly well at portraying Cohen's insanity

It just wouldnt have been the same without the high level of voice acting that was done. Great work to them all Hope the same voice actors are used in Bioshock 2 (depends if its a prequel or a sequel though)

and yeah could you post a link to that interview if you could Mari? I havent seen it. Would be interesting to see the 'real' Fontaine

    Easily either Atlas or Ryan.

Atlas voice actor during the sub scene made it sound so realistic, as if he really had a family in that sub and ryan blew them up. The voice actor sounded as if he was actually crying during the radio messages, just beautiful voice acting in general

Ryan, is like todays Martin Luther King, or Lennin. There speech makers, and there wonderful at it. His audio diaries are easily one of the best voice acting I've heard in gaming. He sounds so realistic as if he's not just talking through a microphone in a little sound studio, but if he's actually talking to the gamers with emotion and feeling!

Brilliant voice-acting all the way around, not one voice feels out of place in the abyss that we like to call Rapture...

I hope the voice actors will return in Bioshock 2, sometimes in sequels they get other people to do it.

    Edit: Found the interview :http://www.thefukerton.com/the-fuker...e-greg-baldwin

He read Atlas as a country accent. I really can't imagine that now.

I laughed when he said his son gets to kill his dad at the end of the game. I could imagine this happening - "Go to your room!" "Fine! I'll go to my room and you know what dad, I'll be killing you in Bioshock!"

    The little sisters' voices.
    They are my favorite :3

Atlas was my favorite. But, I also liked Tenenbaum. She's my favorite character in the game. The little sisters were creepy too, which I absolutely loved, but I think Atlas was voiced the best.

I must admit, I wasn't a huge fan of Tenenbaum's voice. While it wasn't bad, I thought some of it felt a bit too forced and unnatural. So while I didn't dislike it, given how much I liked the other actors' voice work, she sinks to the bottom.

And while he certainly didn't have a big role, the "Fontaine can do double!" diary never fails to give me goosebumps. The sheer emotion in the voice, combined with what happened to him as a result of his holding out... chilling stuff.

Here's all the voice actors for the game. You click their names to find out what other games they have been in too.

EDIT: Oh, and also- I like the voice of Jack(Adam Sietz) best, even though he only got like one line in the entire game. :P

I heard somewhere a rumour on here that it was T Ryder Smith (that did the voice of Cohen), but it was never confirmed.

They were all fantastic, but my favorite was Atlas. The sub scene and the plot twist where he says, "Nice work, boyo..."

They're all perfect. How's that for an answer? I can't think of any other game where I even wanted to know who the voice actors were.

I liked Ryan a lot. I think his best moment was when he mockingly read the contract to Langford while he gassed her.

Mine would have to be a tie between Sander Cohen and Atlas/Fontaine. They sound very life like.

Thanks for the link Wolf, finally got a chance to listen to it. Great interview I actually thought he'd have a New York accent lol so he did great voice work. Yeah i cant imagine Atlas with a country accent either as he read a few bits, wouldnt have sounded right. He said they edited his voice up a bit afterwards but he still did good work

He said himself if they bring Fontaine back then he will be happy to play the part again Cant imagine anyone else doing the voice unless they sounded exactly like Greg did so glad that he would do it again

Bet his son is popular having Fontaine as his dad lol. That would be so cool getting him to say some lines and stuff

I have a feeling that they probably manipulated Armin Shimerman's voice like they did with Greg Baldwin's. (Made it sound deeper I mean)

Yeah i think they probably did. His normal voice isnt as deep as it is as Ryan, unless hes good at putting it on but it was probably still edited up a bit as Greg's was. Greg said they made his voice a bit slower, and sounds like a bit deeper as well. Probably edited them up a bit for the final release of what we hear in the game. Still did amazing work though

Would be interesting to hear their unedited recordings to see just how different they sound to what they are in the game

I have a few favorite Voice Actors, Fontaine, Steinman, Atlas, Cobbs, Cohen, Finnegan(sp?), Ryan, Mcclintock. I guess those are my main favs, lol.

Like everyone else has said, each and every one of the actors did a completely amazing job!.

BTW, Excellent Interview with Greg Baldwin!!, I loved it!

I think McDonagh's voice actor was brilliant, personally.
