    BioShock DLC Region Question.

Hello everyone!! , I got the Region 2 Bioshock, but my PSN account is American, I would like to know if the DLC PStore of America, works with the Region 2 of the game?

Pretty much every PS3 game out there requires any DLC to be from the same region as the game. If you have an American copy of the game, you need to get DLC from the US or Canadian stores. If you have a Euro copy of the game, you need to get it from one of the Euro stores.

It's easy to get access to other regions' PSN stores, simply by creating an account with a fake address. In your case, you'd create an account using a fake address in the UK. However, you can't add funds unless you've got a credit card that matches the country. So a UK account needs a UK credit card to add money.

So sorry - unless you've got access to a UK (or other Euro country) credit card, you won't be able to get the DLC.

Yes and thats the problem with the PS3 why have a machine thats multiregion and plays games from around the world then region lock the DLC the xbox 360 dosent lock DLC so why does sony. Its pointless having a region free console then region lock the DLC.

As far as I can see, it's to do with testing the DLC. Each region has different languages, and the DLC needs to be tested in each supported language for each region.

US games are typically English-only, so the DLC only has to support English. Euro games need English, French, Italian, German and Spanish (English + FIGS). Japanese games obviously need Japanese and possibly English, and Asian games are probably Cantonese and English.

Breaking the games and DLC into regions helps publishers to get it to market quicker. Rather than having an all-in-one package which has to be tested for all languages worldwide, you can send out different language packages to each region. If the game is Japanese only, the manufacturer doesn't need to translate everything into French, Italian or Spanish.

It is a problem, but only as long as there's paid DLC. The free stuff is easy enough to get, and some games are expansive enough that they don't need DLC at all (e.g. Oblivion).

They only have to release one version with all languages your console will display the content that corrersponds to the region of your machine. Theres no excuse xbOX 360 can do it so can PS3.

You're correct Sir. That would simplify things. But it would make the DLCs twice the size, since there is matter of NTSC vs PAL format. Also it's not entirely true that the PS3 is region free. Most (all?) PS3 games are but that's just because the producers and Sony decide so. Still, if they want, the option to region lock them is there.

Anyway, since this thread is talking about DLCs I'd like to understand something. Reading around I understood that Bioshock for PS3 "as it is" should have some extensions compared to the X360/PC one. Is that true or that happens only buying the DLC?

PS: Actually I noticed now that the DLC price is only 8 euro. I thought it was 20 before. Did 2K drop the price? Is it worth it anyway? Is it suggested to start a new game with it or I can keep playing and i will make use of the DLC anyway?
