    Guitar Hero II

    Heya there,

Was wondering if anyone could share some impressions of Guitar Hero II or any version of the series? I've never played but I'm a big fan of Dance Dance Revolution (which really has no bearing on this, only brought up as another example of a physical music game) and have had the itch to rock like a god. So have any BS forumers played it? Worth the $90?

    Thanks for the replies guys.

I play real guitar, and one day i picked it up at the mall to play, and the fretboard is weirdly spaced and so the buttons were kinda between half steps and whole steps... well, if you really play guitar you might find this game a bit disorientating in its controller... but that was just my experience with it while testing the game out. It got really amazing reviews I believe.

It's great fun, but honestly at this point I would save my money and wait for Rock Band. The most fun I had playing Guitar Hero was doing the 2 player mode, with 2 guitars going, Rock Band is going to offer a guitar, drums and a microphone with upto 4 players. So you can have 2 guitars going (one being a Bass of course) someone doing vocals and someone else rocking the drums all in the same room with you. Or you can take it online if you've got no friends, or not enough money to invest in all the peripherals.

So Rock Band is done by Harmonix too it looks like...

Yeah I'd follow Jeff's suggestion and wait for that to come out. If you do decide to get GH2 get the 360 or upcoming Wii version (because of the ability to download songs - although there are "unofficial" ways to do this for the ps2 version)

I like the games because I don't have enough talent to actually play the guitar.

    Red Octane:
We have isolated this issue to two model numbers that can be found on the guitar's packaging. The numbers are 95065 and 95055. We are asking that customers who puchased their items from a retailer perform an exchange with that respective store (for a model number other than the defective two listed above). Customer's who purchased through our online story can complete an rma request for their defective item and we will exchange it for a fully function guitar controller. We do apologize for the inconvenience and will [resolve] these matters.
Anyone of you got the problem with the guitar controller?

I read about that as well, seems like a pretty big error.

Maybe? Dunno my ps2 got busticated at a party last month. Had a friend try to fix it (looked like an issue of re-soldering the power pin) and found out the board's cracked too.

Before that GH2 worked just fine though.

My sister got me the PS2 version for my birthday. It gets a little old after a while, but when ever you have company, it is a great game to whip out and "shred". I have to admit, that in these past few months, it is probably one of the games that I have played the most of.

My biggest beef is that the differnce between Medium and Hard difficulty is to large.

It's a good game until you get to songs that are boring or songs that are hard to beat (in other words, higher difficulties). Easy/Normal is pretty fun, Hard is obviously a big jump from Normal by adding the orange key, and Expert is a harder version of hard which I still havn't completed (the later songs kill you, seriously). It's a good game if you have patience to get good, but I havn't played it in a long time.

It is Fun I just started Hard Mode but I don't have the game my friend has it and I play it there, he beat Expert mode and stuff he always uses the Cheat Hyperspeed and now when he plays at normal speed even on Expert it is too slow for him, but I play on Hyper Speed on Hard, and then I quit Hyper Speed on Hard and it is still Hard.

Guitar Hero is pretty good casual fun to play at a friends place for some good laughs.

I had heard many good things about it, such as an awesome soundtrack, and great multiplayer. All these are true, and more. There are so many great things about this game, the soundtrack, the unlockables, and the guitar. The guitar has an excellent design, very true to the real Xplorer guitar. The buttons are, in my opinion, in a better position than the standard controller.

On your first time trying, you'll probably do pretty poorly, and that's fine for a newbie. Once you progress through the game and increase in skill, you'll have loads of fun. I highly suggest this game to anyone who likes to have fun. And I know a lot of people like to have fun.
