I think it becomes useless to fast maybe if it were obsoleted math instead of what writing it would be better? Of course this means that it should take longer to build like maybe 75 hammers instead of 50 what do you think

i dont think stonehnge should be obsoloete because no one really found out what it is for
but they have theories.....
when was it built?.....and why does it cause culture??? when it has a temple???
it be weird if you were the romans and you started with literacy, and when you went to medieval you couldnt construct it for half cost....because it wouldnt be their...lol
I've gotta agree, Stonehenge sucks, unless you're the Egyptians and start with it, then you get ark of the covenant. even then, it only makes 1.5 culture per turn in those tiny ancient era cities. In the first 30 turns or so, it's almost always obsolete, which is retarded. it could at least double or triple temple's output. It's gonna take ppl just as long to build it, and research ceremonial burial, then build or rush a temple (80 gold to rush it in ancient).
It basically will help you get your first GP earlier, then it's only use is the cultural milestone advancement and the +3 culture per turn it produces. Not worth the 50 hammers to build it and the 40 for each temple.
oh, and for expiring tech, I think it should be Religion, which equates to organized modern religion, which made primitative pagan and druid-like religions diminish.
I think they got the stonehenge bonus completely wrong. I don't think it has anything to do with culture I mean come on there wasn't religion back when they thought it was made. Perhaps it should give an ancient through medeival 50% tech bonus to every city that the civ has. Absolete by invention as well.
Oh It could also be absolete by engineering. I really dont' see stonehenge as a wonder. Maybe they just got 1000 men and actually physcially without and simple machine arranged the rocks.. they might have built a support stairwell or two LOL...
I think it should add a attack bonus to attaking units. Because I think it was used for ritual sacrifice's.
First of all they had religion back when it was made. After all the first known civilization on earth had religion. So when people have organization, and capability for building that, they have religion, especially since in its time it aligned perfectly with the sun. That just doesn't accidentally happen. =P
Anyways, I don't think any of the bonuses you guys suggested makes sense. 50% boost that expires at invention makes no sense since it had nothing to do with sciences so far as we know. O_o Likewise Engineering is a bad time to expire since there is already something that expires on that tech.
I think religion is also illogical. I mean we didn't know what Stonehenge was for even before the Romans got to Britannia. Also the term pagan refers to all religions that are not christianity, judaism and Islam, and is a purely Western term, for the record. If you ask me, the Stonehenge is as it should be.
I mean think about it. It was created near the beginning of civilization so far as we know. We don't know what its use was and likely it didn't do anything too major. Also very early in history it was no longer useable and just a relic of another era, more of a cultural thing then something used for its original intent. So! If you ask me it works perfectly. The only thing about it that I would change would be the temple thing. That doesn't really mesh with where it's from, or the time. I think a better option would of been for whoever has stonehenge gets a cultural bonus in all their cities. Then while it is in effect you wont have to worry as much about an early culture flip or anything like that and wont have to waste time and cash on getting ceremonial burial and building temples to use it. Beyond that though they got it spot on in my opinion. Not that it matters though since they wont change no matter how much you comment on it, since there's nothing wrong with it as it is.
It makes perfect since of why it would expire in engineering/invention. People didn't know how they got those things up there without engineering so once you study engineering it would't be so wonderful anymore. Invention could be out. Having simple machiens back then and alligned it perfect with the sun shows signs of being smart so 50% bonus to science.
Well no other wonder is based on science purely because a scientific method was used to build it so I don't see why Stonehenge should be different. Each wonder has done something in relation to what the wonder itself was supposed to do. In the case of Stonehenge it was probably sun worship of someone like lugh or something. So it makes sense as a cultural one to me personally. The people at 2k and Firaxis clearly agree since that's the way they made it. =P
Theres only one other wonder that we're fascinated about how it was built anciently with tools and thats the pyramids. All the other wonders basically we had simple machines and the modernized one of course heavy machinery and profession construction workers..
=P Ok so if no one cares about how stonehenge was made (since you clearly stated the only one people are interested in from ancient times is the pyramids architecturally) then we don't care about any scientific method that was used in its construction! This is pointless though, point is when push comes to shove I think they made it in terms of cost and the rate it becomes obsolete at just right. Only change i'd have made would of been it giving a small big of culture to all cities rather then just one with temples. Least then it could be utilized somewhat in that brief window of opportunity.
another thought..
if stonehenge had an obsolete it should be mass media
and stonehnge should be a gold boost because it is a tourist atraction
and when mass media comes with hollywood noone would care about stonehenge and just watch tv
I agree with Panquin.......Stonehenge shouldn't require the time and resources in building a Temple.
And, yes, let it expire as it is in the game.
It's just a cheap wonder to build to put you on the cultural victory path. Nothing more.
Lighthouse is much more useful and lasts until you get navigation.
