    Jacks Last Name[Spoilers Incuded]

What is Jacks last name? Is it Jack Ryan? Maybe something we learn in B2: SOD?

Everyone knows, that his name is Jack Ryan. Jack Ryan was the analyst of CIA from Tom Clancy's novels. Therefore Andrew Ryan considers Jack as the CIA agent.

Well, wait. Were Ryan and Jasmin Jolene married? If so, his name could be Jack Jolene too (if Jolene really is her last name).

It meant 2K games made an allusion to Tom Clancy's hero.

I so perceive any law organizations of registration of marriage were missing in Rapture. Therefore it is possible to consider somehow.

It is extremely more likely that it's Jack Ryan rather than Jack Jolene. For one thing, men still were considered mroe powerful than women and got most of the say-so's. (Women weren't even considered actual people until 21 years before this game took place.)

How can Ryan think its from Clancy's book if the book was written in 84? The character was born in 50 but made up in 84! Also even if Red October was written in the 50's why would Ryan believe in a fictional book?

    >_< So what if Fontaine "bought" him? He's Ryan's son, and that will never change.
    Jack Ryan FTW!

But then again Fontaine does talk about how Jack was like a son to him.

The novel was written in 1984, and the game was made by 2k Games in 2006. 2k Games have used some allusions. For instance, the movie The Sweet Life (La Dolce Vita) was released in USA in April, 1961. In this movie the character Paparazzo has appeared for the first time. Then this name have been changed to Paparazzi and became common noun. Why in Rapture was there already an journalist with name Paparazzi? Jack came in city in 1960 only. Jack Ryan, Paparazzi, Atlas are allusions. Objectivism by Ayn Rand began informally in the 1950s, and Ryan built his city in 1946.

I assumed it was Jack Fontaine as well, as Fontaine was the one who programmed him. Or it could be a completely unrelated name. I guess we will have to wait and see.

That is, if Bioshock 2 will continue with his story. I don't really get it, what is so important about his last name anyway?
In his own perception, in his memories of pre-crash 'life', his last name probably wasn't Ryan or Fontaine, but the name of his non-existing parents, who were programmed into his mind.

Well, naturally it would be Jack Ryan, since his biological father was indeed Andrew Ryan. But who's to say that was the last name he went by? After all, he didn't even know his father was Ryan. Hell, he didn't even know he never had a real life. Whatever name he had before Rapture, only he would know. That is, if a last name was even included in his 'fake memories'. Maybe it was something that was never included in his memories so he was just simply Jack.

It's not that it is important, it's that it's interesting. People woud like to know the trivial things about the game they love. And maybe they won't ever answer it, or the writers never even thought of it. But it's still fun to guess

Off topic, but how many of you only played te PS3 version? It's the only version I played, and I wish there was a limited edition for the PS3 too I really want that figure!
