These weapons are in the game for sure:
    - pistol
    - shotgun
    - tommy gun
    - crossbow
    - grenade/rocket launcher (I'm not sure which one)
    - wrench

Ofcourse, for example you will be able to put a mini flamethrower on the shotgun .

Yes, you can modify every weapon in the game. Except for the wrench, I think.

Into what? An uber-leet wrench of pwning noobs?

I'd rather see just a better melee weapon at some point.

Fire axe, katana, something like that... chainsaws are cool, but have been overdone recently I think.

I want stealth plasmid (gene-tonic?) and a Garrote (the player character could take a piano-wire from the piano in the lounge/restaurant).

And it's probably too late, but I'd like it if the splicers would hesitate or react if I raise a weapon (but I guess it's not that type of game :/ )

Feedback on the weapons (Xbox 360)

I hope the Weapons feel beefy and I mean like Serious Sam 1 beefy so when you fire certain weapons you can feel through the vibration in the controller that yeah its got some kick to it.

I'd love to be able to "modify" the wrench by like securing a huge lug-nut to the end of it (vicing it in) or covering it in fuel of some kind and lighting it up before smacking somebody, that would rock. Realistically it's probably not so cool for the game itself, but it would be sweet.

Will the game have a Mini Gun? Its one gun I would love to have and it was awesome in Serious Sam 1! :-D

If you could grip a grenade in the jaws of the wrench you'd probably be able to throw it a lot further with a lot more accuracy, but I'm not sure what kind of practical application that might have. Maybe if you combined those two things it could give you a visible trajectory ark for more difficult (and important) throws. If there were a limited number of wrenches it could be good.

I don't know (I haven't heard mention of one). I find miniguns are generally amongst the most underpowered of weapons in games, in terms of the relative damage they should do, so I tend not to use them, but having said that the minigun in Riddick was excellent.

    This kind of looks 'rapturesque'

Too bad we can't mod it to a crowbar.

That crazy Gordon Freeman and his crowbar skills...

  15. #15
I don't know if you can mod the wrench, but with one of the passive plasmids, Frost Aura, you do freeze enemies that you whack with the wrench, so you can kinda mod it with supplementing plasmids

looks like there will be some sort of larger machine gun other than the tommy gun

and I am so happy that the flamethrower/chemical thrower is still in

I think you'll find that that's the modified pistol. There's actually only five weapons on that page.

Isn't there a flame thrower also? (That might be a plasmid used by an AI though... the same guy who looks like he is blown up with bits of AI chunks and blood in the air... it like disapates and comes back together somewhere nearby... short range teleportation!)
And I KNOW there is also a Machette/Pipe toating splicer type thing

(In the images there is a blue guy holding a large metal pipe with blue electricity on his hand o.O! and in one of the treailers there is a guy holding a Machette... I might be wrong though)

  21. #21
there is a flame/chemical thrower in the game

It is both (probably) because it is likely that there will be multiple ammo types for it, and as such you should be able to use things like acid as well

  22. #22
speculation by someone else, though I do believe it was based on the name chemical thrower, which is an odd name for only firing flaming napalm

Flamethrowers date back to the Greeks (would you believe it?) and were used in both world wars.
    Napalm was developed in WWII.
The citizens of Rapture had the technology, and I'm sure they could find the ingredients.

Prolly not gonna be in the game (As they'd more fit a steampunk-type game)...but anything based on Tesla's various designs would be sweet.

He did his stuff in late 1800s/early1900s so it'd fit with the timeline if some enterprising Rapturian decided to finish some of Tesla's ideas...

Unless you're blind you'd have to have noticed from the video's that some of the weapons have steampunk mod's on them. Hydraulics and gear mechanics are essential for a steampunk weapon, and weapon enhancements in Rapture's setting would definitely have a steampunk edge to them.

EDIT: After seeing the Prestige's inclusion of Tesla's work, I would love to see some sort of small-arms version of the Tesla Coil from Red Alert. The energy requirement for such a thing would be immense though. Miniaturization(sic) of energy containment was not a well developed field of expertise back then. I mean they had computers the size of a warehouse.

What's with the hostility? (I usually think of steampunk being set in steam-powered eras which is why I made my earlier comment)

Actually I'd love to see the telekinesis plasmid explained through Unified Field Theory...

Lots of goodies in there...even something as simple as wireless power to the various lights though would make me happy.

Hostility? None intended mate I would have said something like "You bleeding blind dickless twat" elements of steampunk are quite visible, even if it's not a steampunk setting. (remember Ken's mention of Thief inspiring some of Bx)

I wonder if there is any plasmid whereas you could contain an AC electrical charge within yourself and discharge it via a pool of water, system of pipes, or metal gratings/floors

I remember reading an article about how Tesla's theories were the foundation for directed subatomic, heavily-charged particle rays.............Death Rays, essentially

"Blanka rules Rapturedome!" - actually an intriguing idea. Would it come with an ability to detect electric charges or would that be a separate passive plasmid? (How would you display that sense on the screen anyway - I remember how disorienting the "pheromone sense" from AvP was...)

And I got chided for wanting to wander away from Rapture without proper supplies?

Actually, if you believe the History Channel, flamethrowers date back to ancient China. They used hand-pumped rolling canisters that ignited kerosene with gunpowder fuses.

in one of the videos, you see there is not a ton of ammo and a minigun eats it up really fast and dosnt do alot of damage

the weopens (when modified) are freakin sweet

I just think it's cool that you can add parts and customize them completley and that they actually look different when you add parts to them.

Latest interview (the one on 1UP I think) details this somewhat. Enemies will react to what weapon you have, and might even run away if they feel seriously outgunned. Not sure if there will actually be a key to raise/lower a weapon. Such action makes sense in RPGs (NPC interactions in games like Oblivion tend to go better if your weapon is sheathed) and stealth games (in Thief, you are more visible with a drawn weapon and passerby may get scared of you and call guards)

one of the interveiws levine said somtimes they will not attack if you are way tougher than them. example:you have shotgun they have a wrench they might hesitate or you have a grenade launcher and they have a wrench they dont need too think too know not too attack unless forced too say you shoot at him/her/it.

    so...

*walk into a room with wrench*
"come on, come on little buddy..."
    *splicer runs at you*
    *rapidly switch to shotgun*
    BOOM!

yeah they also said that if you both have a melee weapon out, like a wrench, the splicer might taunt you, which is pretty cool
