Civilization Revolution 1.30 Change List

As many of you know, we have been working on a comprehensive patch for Civilization Revolution on both the 360 and PS3. The patch is currently being QAed by both Sony and Microsoft, and we’ll be announcing a release date soon. To get you ready for that release, I have the current Change List for 1.30.

Please note: This list could change, as the patch is not through final approvals with Sony and Microsoft. If that happens, I will update this list and note any changes.

Civilization Revolution 1.30 Change List

New Game of the Week Leaderboards Added
New leaderboards have been added to the Game of the Week competitions. The new leaderboards sort players according to the type of victory they attain. The original leaderboards combine all of the different victory types together and will still be available under the "Combined" tab.

By pressing RIGHT or LEFT TRIGGER, you can scroll through the information about each players' victory - their leader, victory type and the year they won. By pressing X, only your friends will be displayed on the leaderboard. By pressing Y, you will display your own best victory on the current Game of the Week for the board you have chosen.

Game of the Week Improvements
A number of improvements have been made to increase replayability of the Game of the Week. On the Chieftain level the Game of the Week remains the same, but at the Warlord level and beyond the AI civilizations receive new bonuses based on the difficulty level.

Using the "Find Me" Option Before the User is Ranked
Previously, if a player selected the "Find Me" option on one of the leaderboards before their game had posted, it would simply take them to the end of the list and show them another user. Now, when the player does this, a warning appears.

Leaderboards "Find Me" Functionality Improved
The "Find Me" functionality on the leaderboards has been improved to allow for a quicker response time and to fix a non-functionality error.

Incorrect Civilization Icon Appearing When a Player Loses a Game of the Week Match
Previously, players who lost a Game of the Week would occasionally see an entry posted for their name, but with an incorrect civilization icon. It would occur when the player would reach the year 2100 in the game, but with an AI player in the lead when the game ended. This has been corrected.

Fixed Game of the Week Matches Failing to Post to Leaderboard (PS3)
If someone played more than one ranked/Game of the Week game during a session, the subsequent games would not always post their results to the leaderboards. This has been corrected.

Fixed Old Scores Appearing After Player Completes a New Week's Game of the Week (PS3)
Previously, if a player completed a Game of the Week match one week with a high score and then the following week completed the new Game of the Week match with a lower score, their older, higher score would not be overwritten in the leaderboards. The result was that the entries in GotW leaderboards appeared out of order. They should be sorted by the year the game was completed in increasing order, which has been corrected in this patch.

Multiplayer Pausing Exploit
Previously in multiplayer, when one player paused the game the other players' games paused as well. This meant a player could continually pause and un-pause the game, making the game unplayable for the other players involved. To prevent this situation, players now can only pause the game once per turn in multiplayer.

Rushing World Bank/United Nations Exploit
We have corrected an exploit that allowed players to rush the World Bank/United Nations.

Absent Multiplayer Exploit Fix
Previously in multiplayer games, players had been able to walk away from their game, but leave the game running, forcing the other players to have to wait until the turn timer ran out every single turn, slowing the pace of play significantly.

If the player has not been taking their turn, and the player is the last to have not completed their turn, after roughly five seconds, the speed of that player's turn timer will increase.

This means that if the player has stepped away from the game, they will not slow down the pace of play. If the absent player begins to perform actions again, the player's turns will return to normal.

This only begins to happen once the game has progressed 40 turns (reached Year 0).

Democratic Players Ignoring Offers to Cease Hostilities
Previously in Multiplayer games, if two players were at war, and the player not using the Democracy government attempted to contact another player who was using the Democracy government, which normally would force the Democratic player to declare peace with the other player, the Democratic player could simply ignore the non-Democratic player, making it impossible for the other player to force them from war.

Now, when a non-Democratic player attempts to diplomatically contact a player using the Democracy government, the Democratic player cannot ignore them until they leave the Democracy government.

Democratic Players Being Able to Declare War
Previously, when a player with the Democracy government actively began Diplomacy in a multiplayer game, the option to declare war still appeared on the list of diplomatic options. That option has now been removed.

AI Players Randomly Give Techs
Previously, when players demanded a technology from an AI player, if they rapidly pressed the "Accept" button in certain situations, the AI might have randomly given them the tech they previously refused to give. This has been corrected.

Selling the Same Tech to AI Players Multiple Times
Previously, there was a rare situation where it was possible for players to sell a technology to the same AI civilization multiple times. This has been corrected.

Repeating "Production Complete" Sound Cue Bug
Occasionally, when a player completed construction in a city, the "Production Complete" sound cue would play multiple times. This has been fixed.

Wonder Music Bug
Occasionally, when a player built a wonder, the music would be exceedingly loud because the music was being played multiple times overtop of itself. This patch includes a fix for that bug.

Space Victory Sound Not Playing
Occasionally, when a player completed a game via a Space Race victory, the music would not play. This has been corrected and the music now plays.

Modern Era City Focus Recalibration
Once the player reaches the Modern Era, if they change their city's city focus to Gold or Science, their city will no longer produce Hammers. Instead, they will produce extra Gold or Science respectively.

Great General Bug
Normally, Great Generals would attach to units and not be able to move independently of their unit. A bug, however, allowed some Great Generals to separate from their unit. This bug has been fixed.

Main Menu Input Crash (360)
Previously, if players left their controller in a state where a button was continually being pushed for a long period of time on the main menu, then the game would crash. This has been fixed.

Improved Multiplayer Quick/Ranked Match Functionality (PS3)
We have fixed a number of bugs that had reduced the ability for players with different network connections to join the game. Improved NAT negotiation handling and the addition of a temporary failed connection blacklist will allow players to connect to Ranked or Quick match games more reliably.

(change list continued)

Inviting Players into Multiplayer Games from Title Screen or Dashboard (360)

Previously, if the player was invited into a game from the title screen or dashboard, they would be unable to select a storage device before entering the game. This has been fixed.

Inviting Other Players Within the Game
Previously, if one player invited a second player into a game, and that player was already in the middle of the game, the invited player would be bumped out to the main menu, rather than directly into the game. This has been fixed.

Preventing Non-Host Players from Inviting into Multiplayer Games
Previously, players other than the host of a game could invite players into a multiplayer game. This has been removed.

Hang When Host and Additional Players Leave a Multiplayer Match
Previously, when playing a three or four player multiplayer game, if both the host and another player left at the same time, a hang could sometimes occur. This has been fixed.

Combat Progresses Faster in Multiplayer
When the player enters combat in Multiplayer, the resulting battle has been sped up to facilitate speedy gameplay.

High Capacity Multiplayer Lobby Fixes (360)
Previously, when more than ten games were present in the multiplayer lobby, the game names present on the first page of the lobby would be repeated on the second page and be unselectable. This has been corrected.

AI Improvements
Improvements have been made to the AI. AI players are now less likely to war on the player and more likely to war on one another.

Version Number Display
The current version number of the game is now displayed on the main menu.

Custom Worker Management Cursor Color Corrected (PS3)
Previously, the custom worker management cursor appeared to be black because of a missing HDR profile. This has been corrected.

great job elizabeth. now we can get these things fixed. if it stops the freezes too, i will be a happy gamer. here is what i am looking forward to the most...

-Combat Progresses Faster in Multiplayer
-Multiplayer Pausing Exploit
-Democratic Players Ignoring Offers to Cease Hostilities
-AI Improvements
and my absolute favorite....Misc Optimization and Stability Fixes!

one question though, what does this mean?

Modern Era City Focus Recalibration
Once the player reaches the Modern Era, if they change their city's city focus to Gold or Science, their city will no longer produce Hammers. Instead, they will produce extra Gold or Science respectively.

BTW, when should this hit 360?

Same question, I don't understand how it would work really. However great job.

The nickname is the same of who was the second. However maybe you, crazy squirrel or BIN LATEN (with the fourth account maybe in this forum), haven't followed the game, because I was first 3 months ago and BIN LATEN started his race only a month ago or 1 month and half, but I remember almost every good player. BIN LATEN isn't the best of thw world and he wasn't first since 3 months, only few weeks.

This essentially means that you can now "turn off" production in a city during the late game. Instead, a city will producer pure trade. No more city screens constantly popping up to remind you to build something.

Absent player & the Fast battles adjustment sound great! I didn't notice any diplomacy exploit fix (might have overlooked it), this being when people conduct diplomacy to mess up your turn (similar to pause bombing) - a function not allowing diplomatic request after one rejection per turn woudl be an easy fix.

I wasn't even aware of half the bugs listed, but its good to know they are fixed.

The elimination of the non-host player invitation is a surprise, as I didn't think this was a problem. It was a nice option to be able to get more players, by expanding the friends pool, in a game considering the typical low volume of online players and tendency for players to drop.

Improved Multiplayer Quick/Ranked Match Functionality (PS3)
It troubles me a little that you didn't mention player/custom match functionality, hopefully its implied to be fixed in the "Misc Optimization and Stability Fixes".

Overall sounds great though, I think it was a great idea to get the problems out of the way 1st and then possibly in the future we can see some other tweaks/features.

The one that I think is big one that I can understand was not added here since its an addition and not a fix would be to be able to tell from the online game list if a game has been started or not (i.e., in process, waiting for players). I think that is a huge needed feature actually.

Another minor tweak i thought would take a little frustration away is in the friends list where you have to scroll down a huge list (varies per player) to see whos online to invite, a simple sort function having the online players on top would make things much easier.

And last some sort of in-game chat box, at least in the select character screen while waiting to start a game - trying to type in peoples names in the ps3 menu to text using the ps3 system chat is not reasonably easy thing to do given time constraints.

This essentially means that you can now "turn off" production in a city during the late game. Instead, a city will producer pure trade. No more city screens constantly popping up to remind you to build something.
Almost forgot this is an EXCELLENT adjustment, this fixes possibly the most annoying problem in a late game.

Maybe I missed it, but

Will it address the leaderboards not accurately keeping wins/loses/ranks? I played 10 games last Saturday. It counted all 5 loses, 2 of my 5 wins. The 5hours i spent playing the 3 games I win apparently didn't happen.

Will this be fixed?

WHAT!!!! I thought it was supposed to be black, why didn't anyone tell us it was a bug, think of all the whining and moaning we lost

On a more serious side...

What about the histogram Elizabeth? You told us a couple of months ago that the piktograms would be removed in 1.3. But it's not mentioned in the post.

2 of 2 so far have been free which are extra maps, the 2 they charge $ for are scenarios. Coming soon are three new packs with new wonders (3-4 bucks a pop for 5+ new items in the game each).

so we got the stuff that can be put together with a map editor for free. From my understanding the latest wonder packs were available for free as a gift from certain retailers.

so all these months of frustration and disappointment are to be erased by a patch and free maps. Forget about getting any content with substance as a form of compensation for the raw deal.

90% plus single player game that alone is one of the best games on the PS3, dlc given to you for free and it would seem all your main gripes sorted...but still not enough.

Add you like some others complain about extra dlc that costs 75 bleedin pence....

Some sick joke the last bit I must say.

That dlc even if it only gives 3 hours fun per download a go is still cheaper than a can of strong beer, a bleedin burger in Macdonalds or a short bus trip!!!!

Who needs customers that are this ridiculously stingy, complaining and such a pain in the ass?

The dev team puts some work in gets it on the PSN network for a nominal fee, almost subsidising players and you still moan?

How about you put time and effort in for such minimum return just to get abused?

And are they demanding you buy it?

What you are doing is akin to paying someone less than the minimum wage for producing good work and then *****ing at them, that in fact they shoul have worked for free!!!

If you hate everything so much (including it sounds future dlc) then why don't you take your spoiled self outta here and give us all a break.

P,S

Lord only knows what you lot do if you watch a movie you don't like or have to actually pay for the work of others.....

Great game , Great DLC, I am sure more Great DLC to come and probably a good patch....

Thumbs up Excellent Patch Notes!

Thanks for the detailed patch notes, Elizabeth. They are greatly appreciated.

And for those who are still complaining even after reading these patch notes, please do all us CivRev fans a favor and, assuming 1.30 works as advertised, realize that the pendulum has finally swung from the "Doesn't Work As Advertised" side to the "Works As Advertised" side. If you hurry to Gamestop, you may be able to pick up a used copy. I'm glad I kept my copy.

that is a frankly embarrassing amount of bugs to be fixed after two patches have already been released.

Still, at least it is getting fixed.

Hmm... This is rebuilding some credibility. At least for me. Good job. I just mist one thing: has the freeze pressing triangle (PS3) when a great person appears been fixed? I know it should belong to misc and stability but being a very well known freeze that is VERY annoying and I think it should be reported.

Is this going to fix why I always host in FFA ranked on the PS3 and no one joins, I asked about 10 hours ago without reply.

It's the only reason I still own the game, if I can't get on the FFA ranked games without little problem, it will not be getting played again. I won't trade the game as I would'nt want anyone else to go through the same frustration as I have. Always loved sid meier's games, but been let down BIG time. If this patch doesn't work the trust will be gone and so will any purchases of any future 2k games.

The reason you aren't getting anyone is A) the bugs that prevent it and B) Everyone (including me) is waiting for the patch so we can truly enjoy mp games.

Hang over

First of all, Great patch info! Finally Do you have plans for another patch? Can you give us any info on further future plans for the civ series?
Is there any plans to 'upgrade' the game, with the many suggestions made in various threads?

and now...

I know you are a bluff, just arguing for the sake of arguing. The way you argue says many things about you, who you are, you probarbly don't even have a job.
Fact: The game is broken. Morale: Make up for it. How: Good question, many suggestions.
If it was a bad tape of a movie you rented, you'd obviously get a new movie, maybe even an extra for the inconvenience of having to go there and the spoiled time.

So it's moraly right to make up things for the spoiled time we have endured.

gg

Threads about new content and patches have been turned into a complete abuse and moan fest by some people.

You have been afforded your voice by the 2K forums and allowed to express your opinions even where those opinions have been derogatory and abusive.

Some people have got sick of the attitude and nature of these postings (me being one of those people) and I have simply voiced my opinion (something which is equally aforded to people who disagree with what you have to say about this game and the issues involved).

I have at all times kept my critisism levelled at what you have had to say, the fact this is something you are unable to do is an issue you have that isn't worthy of further comment.

I will not be posting any further in this thread.

P.S

Elizabeth looking forward to the patch, please thank the dev team and colleagues at 2K that have helped get it together and thanks for all the updates you have provided along the way. Some of us are very appreciative of the game and all that is being done to improve and support it. Sorry for going off topic and being drawn into the mire.

It seems to me that free DLC is making up for that. In addition, 2K is releasing previously limited (albeit for a few bucks) content (that includes wonders etc) in response to our asking for it. And they aren't just releasing one or two but all of the previously limited content.

Plus, a new patch that fixes the problem (patches always are free). As I have said before, I would rather have a patch that addresses all the concerns (ie patch 1.30) than one that is rushed out just to appease a few hot heads that have no inkling of what it takes to make major media (ie Movies, books, TV shows, video games.)

But, hurray for patch 1.30. I am really looking forward to playing mp games now!!! It addresses all the concerns expressed on this site PLUS things we haven't worried about such as timing MP games.

Gamespy recently did work on their servers (I just got their update for Comrade) and things seem to be looking up (if not perfect).

@2K Elizabeth

Are you going to play online now? (I bet you're very good at the game)
i play online quite a bit, but under a different user name. i'll try and hop on my 2K name when the patch comes out -- i currently only have a PS3 at work (come Christmas, i'm giving myself one for the home!) but i play on 360 when i have time at home.

What about the histogram Elizabeth? You told us a couple of months ago that the piktograms would be removed in 1.3. But it's not mentioned in the post.
the histograph is being changed as i described weeks back -- the images are being removed, as we decided they were confusing and not necessary to what we were trying to accomplish. i know some of you didn't like this decision, but let's not rehash that here (you can do a quick search and dredge up the right thread if you really want to!) that fits under the "misc fixes" category.

This fix has been my personal pet peeve. Thanks for addressing this.

Can you please stop playing the devil advocate? It's getting boring.

And YES, it's easy to understand you are NOT Sid Meier. You write too much in every post. So be yourself.

A "devil's advocate" is someone who falsely takes an opposite position to their own in an argument in order to demonstrate the strength of their actual position. I don't think Nice1son is playing devil's advocate here. There *is* a lot of abuse and moaning going on in these threads.

I have no idea what you're talking about with the Sid Meier bit.

let's not derail the thread. feel free to express your pleasure or displeasure with the upcoming patch, but be sure that when you say it, say it once, say it well, and then next time you say something, add something new and fresh to the conversation. don't just rehash the same point over and over -- that's spammish and against forum rules. (and both positive and negative comments are spam if you say them repeatedly, so whether you love or hate this change list, say what you have to say, and then next time you post, say something new!)
