What is your strategy when sharing/selling Techs?

I'm curious if anyone tried selling techs to a civ right before you declare war on them and take them out.

Does that work? -Because it would be awesome if you could sell them all your techs for a few hundred gold and then completely destroy them the next few turns.

Does selling a tech cause you to lose your tech?

    Thanks,

Nope, you don't lose anything, and it's a good way to suck some gold out of someone you're about to wipe out!

You dont lose the tech. I do it all the time, not only when Im about to attack. The AI is so dumb they wont do anything with the tech. Maybe some techs can be dangerous to sell but in general its free money.

    Good info thanks.

Do you ever pay one civ to attack another civ and find it effective?

Do you back it up with an attack of your own?

The only time I used this effectively is when I paid the Germans to attack the Zulu and got both the Civs spread out pretty well after 5 turns and I took out the Zulu's and took the 1 city the Germans took from them.

Every other time I paid a civ to attack I felt like it was money down the drain.

    Thoughts?
