Pictures and stuff that reminds you of BioShock

Ever come across pictures or stuff that just remind you of BioShock? If you have, post them here. =)

I came across this AWESOME private library that just screams BioShock. Here's a few pics.

That private library is gorgeous.. You have great eyecandy taste, Mari. I especially love the glass ball overseeing the place and the gadgetry!

Let's see... I'll get some photos but.. Well what reminds me of BioShock, I always jump a bit when I hear the name 'Jack'.. XD;; The underwater-based hotel and theme park in... ****, I forgot where at.. There's more but your ol' pal, Tele, is a bit off her knocker today.. Ow.. ::rubs belly::

I'll get back to this when my button-happy hands isn't so hellbent on firing-up the GameCube..

The guy that owns it is an English man named Jay Walker. Here's the link where I found it.

Lol. Thanks Moon. I'm really into this kind of stuff and if I was wealthy, I'd have a huge library like that too. Hell, I'd build a house to look like something RIGHT out of Rapture. Lol. I've came across a lot of pictures that just yell BioShock. I'll post some later.

There's this Art Deco place in Victoria, AU. that has some GREAT stuff to see. I'd like to go there.
Hector Rodriguez (one of our members) has been to it and I'm sure he has more info about it. Here's the site.

This picture reminds me of Fort Frolic though.

    http://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/artdeco/im...and_600jpg.jpg

And a few more I found on Google and DeviantART:

    http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/6...5marinehq9.jpg

This one reminds me of that huge elevator:

    http://fc48.deviantart.com/images/i/.../deco_NiMo.jpg

    http://fc28.deviantart.com/fs10/i/20...n_by_Docca.jpg

This one reminds me of Medical Pavilion:

    http://fc73.deviantart.com/fs9/i/200...phildeloup.jpg

There's so many. Lol. But these are a few good ones.

I agree! That really well made fantrailer for the Bioshock movie uses a lot of clips from movies that look alike like Rapture. The clips used are from, "City of Lost Children," "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow," "Casshern" "Dark City," "Cast Away," "James Cameron's Aliens of the Deep, An IMAX Film," "iRobot," "Silent Hill," and "Artificial Intelligence."

Nice pictures, by the way! I can't wait to see City of Ember

That's what I said! I feel worried because if and when the Bioshock movie becomes a reality, movie snobs who haven't played are going to turn up their noses and say,
"Well, they're just copying City Of Ember"
    Oh well.

I was in Orlando last week, and my family ate @ Rainforest Cafe. While there, my oldest daughter noticed that the fountain (which is in every restaurant) looked like "that statue that's in that game you're always playing". Surprisingly, it really does. Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera with me, at the time. But I have found a couple of nice pics online of the fountain. Enjoy.

Wow that is so Bioshock like, especially that 'Electricity' plaque I'd love to go back to New York again some day.. I was only 12 when I was there before so I'd appreciate it more now. Has to be my fav city. I've always loved the Chrysler building, saw it when i was there and was up the Empire State too Don't think we saw the Rockefeller building though... might have but dont remember. I love all the deco stuff in NYC, just dont see anything like it around here

    Wink

I don't know if anyone remembers this but...

When I was a kid, there was a ride at Epcot in Orlando called "Horizons" and on it, there was a section where you went through an underwater city. It was a bit more 50's-futuristic than Rapture but it piqued my interest about that sort of thing at a young age.

That ride doesn't exist any more (so says wikipedia) but it made me think about how awesome it would be if there were a Bioshock ride.

Metropolis. (no, not Clark Kent's. Fritz Lang's 1929 movie, which in some ways is more like Bioshock than Atlas Shrugged.. Watch it, it's worth it.)

Yeah, New York is filled with Art Deco. I've never been there, but I'd love to someday. I love Hollywood as well, it just screams Art Deco. Like the Argyle Hotel in L.A.

    Haha! Nice!

  36. Not wishing to plug my own site or anything, but I recently did a piece on some of the hidden symbolism in the game.

The more I research, the more I'm amazed at the sources and literary references 2K Games managed to cobble together into one cohesive whole. In fact, I'd be willing to go as far as saying it's a work of art.

Anyway, anyone notice the 'Iceman Cometh' reference in Fort Frolic? Well, turns out a Dutch artist by the name of Folkert de Jong did an art exhibition called 'The Iceman Cometh'. Here is a picture where I compare Folkert's work with that of Sander Cohen's art:

    http://popularsymbolism.files.wordpr...cometh-big.jpg

Not only that, but this art gallery was exhibited in 2001 in the James Cohan Gallery. James Cohan = Sander Cohen, get it?

    Another one:

    http://popularsymbolism.files.wordpr...lighthouse.png

I have done several blog posts on BioShock. Check it out if you're interested.
